  • The Airport is seen here operating close to capacity with International flights and lots of private jets coming in and out. There are some interesting ATC dialogue with British Airways as well as the controller seems to had his hands full when they landed. Happy New year to all and enjoy this video !!!

The terminal on Saturdays is chock full with all this traffic! My sister was heading back to Atlanta on the day that I think this was filmed, and she said it was standing room only at departure time! Those flights are jam packed at Christmas: forget about the airfield side, the terminal is sooo busy. I'm happy that this is our predicament! This is a far cry from my days in college when the only way for me to get back to the US after Christmas break was a flight through SJU (the horror!). It's time for a terminal expansion, and jet bridges.

+Gavin Hamilton we have come a long way my friend...a very long way.....but traffic in the future will determine future expansion :) !!!!... money again is always a issue.....Antigua has been talking about an ew Terminal since the year 2000....look when it was actually built.....time will tell :)

+Rupert Haughton ATC was dealing with a other matter at the same time so he was under stress i guess.....where the US Airways A319 parked is where i challenger was ready to head out....so he had to tell the pilot don't let out there passengers yet...the airport is packed and finding space to park BA at the same time was an issue to

Nevis. But I work I've been working atc for about 6 years in South Florida. Love your channel, good to see the aviation industry grow but they desperately need some tugs and trained drivers. I've seen tugs fit 6 planes in spaces designed for 2 or 3

    • @skbenergy

+Geoffrey Rhymer not really ATC was dealing with a other matter at the same time so he was under stress i guess.....where the US Airways A319 parked is where i challenger was ready to head out....so he had to tell the pilot don't let out there passengers yet...the airport is packed and finding space to park BA at the same time was an issue to

  • @mizzyroro

I mean that's really embarrassing. There are a few issues here.
    -More ramp space needed.
-There needs to be a separation of passengers and moving aircraft. It should not be possible for passengers to move in the same space as moving aircraft.
-Not sure if tower has a clear view of the ramp and what is happening there. While it is good that the BA captain stopped his aircraft because of a situation he deemed unsafe with his moving aircraft, however, this was a responsibility of ATC which they did not perform. It is no excuse to say they were distracted or under stress. When you don't do your job correctly as ATC for whatever reason, people can die. Perhaps it is not in their operations policy, but ATC has to be mindful of passenger and aircraft movements and control these as well to ensure there is adequate separation and no possibility of conflict for safety reasons.
Sorry this has taken away from your great video recording but this I think highlights a serious problem.

+uriahms The Airport was much much smaller than this....the apron was doubled in 2007 in term of size....before we could only park 2 jets at the most...we have actually come far lol. ATC and ground handling have there own roles as it was made to me.... i know many of the ATC officers and have spoken to them about what happened hear. Ground handling is responsible for parking the plane not them....i was told if anything happens on the ground it would not be there fault....but in this video the US Airways A319 was park in-front a private jet that was ready to go...ATC was mad over that and spoke to the US Airway pilots that the ground people were doing nonsense and do not let there passengers out yet... BA just landed at the same time to add to the stress. ATC has a clear view of the apron....there are suppose to be ground people there to guide the passengers to walk in front the terminal behind the white lines....i am not sure if there were doing there job in this instance !!!!
