- Hey guys. Just a little video showing how to reboot The display in the new 2018 or 2019 Honda Accord. It takes a couple tries to get it but once you do it’s a great way to solve problems that you might be having. Just like computers, sometimes all they need is A reboot to fix issues they might be having. Thanks everyone for watching

Hi Jon, I just wanted to follow up my last comment. I watched your video yesterday and it was great. I got my new Accord 2 months ago and have been enjoying Apple CarPlay. All of a sudden, today it stopped working. Said it couldn't initialize it. It was working fine. Well, I tried everything with the phone, reboot, shut off CarPlay in the phone and started it again. Nothing worked. Well, I remembered your tip and tried it and it worked on the first try! It fixed CarPlay. I was so excited. I had visions of having to go to Honda Service etc... Well, you saved me a trip. Just wanted to thank you again, the tip came in really handy.

This is insane! I have an Accord EX 2019 and it had 1,127 hours of uptime! I ve had connectivity issues that I had to unplug and plug again thru the USB cable in order to connect successfully... now that I did this trick to reset the pc of the car, boom! Magic. It connects super quick and even feel the screen faster. Thank you man!

Push button transmission tip: as soon as the car starts put it on reverse and wait untill you see the reverse camera on and then put it on neutral and that should do the trick. You only have to do the reverse part fast and then you can put it on neutral once you see the rear camera on the screen, that's what I did on my 21 touring

@@rain_24 then you may have a very different problem. Your reverse camera should come up every time you shift to reverse

It worked!! Thank you so much. I had the 2016 Honda and all I had to do was hold the power button for 10 seconds which was easier but the 2019 you have to follow his directions. I’m telling you it worked. Thanks again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS!!! My wireless Apple Carplay wouldn’t recognize that my phone was connected to it, so I “forgot the network,” and then, my phone was no longer detecting my car’s WiFi network. I did these steps a few times, before it finally worked, and then, my Wireless Apple CarPlay instantly connected to my phone. I appreciate you taking the time to make this quick video.
My usb stopped using my apple car play so I use this to reset it, took me 3 times to do it. Fixed my issues thanks for the help

FINALLY! Thank you. I looked in forums and watched a bunch of RUclips videos. I tried all the normal things but it was this one weird gearshift trick that fixed CarPlay on my 2022 Accord. I was this close to getting a wrench and just disconnecting the battery.
It worked! My Android auto stopped working for about 3 months now and all of this time I thought it was the cord. The dealership said there was nothing wrong with it. Why couldn't they think to reset the computer. Smh! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for your help. My heads-up display and instrument cluster weren't showing any navigation prompts even though they were on the infotainment screen. Your reboot fix engaged in the first try and fixed the HUD and the dash. Wish I could buy you a beer. Thanks and cheers from FL.

Thanks ! My update had froze and I couldn't clear out out of it, so I tried your method and got the engine start up on 2nd try and got update installed.. I smashed that like button 4 ya! :) Saved me a trip to dealership!

After lot of research on Internet I found this and it worked. My GPS was not finding any satellites and so had to find a way to reboot the head unit.
Thank you so much for this, I've been having bluetooth connection problems and would always have to either restart my phone or factory reset. This method is so much faster and keeps all the other settings intact.

Wow this fixed my Bluetooth issues. It keep switching between phone and bluetooth so nobody could hear anything on either side of the call. The up time was at nearly 463 hours. Did the reset and calls are fine now. On a 2018 Touring, thanks a lot!

Thanks, Honda Jon! My USB loses connectivity intermittently. I assumed it was a cell tower handoff issue, but I will give your solution a whirl. Have taken the car to the dealer 2x without luck. This problem is maddening. Losing calls mid-conversation without warning is the worst. Was able to reboot on first try. Fingers crossed this works. Thanks again!!

In the 2019 and newer versions without the volume knob, you can just hold the audio on off button for about five seconds and you’ll get a prompt that says “do you want to reboot?” The serves the same function and will also solve most problems

Hey Honda Jon, thank you! I have a 2018 Accord Touring 2.0t with the buttons. Worked first time. I waited for the car to register the button in neutral, then put it in reverse right away. Reset from 574 hours 45 minutes and some seconds. I haven't played around with holding the power botton to confirm if that can do a soft reset.
Again, thank you. I think you fixed my annoying problem with my car telling me my girlfriend had texted me when it was actually my landlady. Not my favorite issue to have. 😂🤣

I had almost 2000 hours! Took me about 6 or 7 tries with push button transmission selectors but ultimately got it. Hoping this fixes my connectivity issues!

Cool fix. Got it on the second try. My head unit would play my iPod, but it kept saying "Loading" with the spinning circle on the screen. This fixed it. Thx, dude!

my CarPlay in my Honda accord was bugging for a while it kept disconnecting from my phone and I thought it was my cable or usb port that weren’t working but I tried this method and now its working without disconnecting. thank you!!

I have a 2018 Sport, thanks for this my Bluetooth has been taking forever to connect lately. Android auto was not responding at all when I tried to plug in my phone, it used to be all instant. My up time was 1114 hours no wonder it was messing up, this seemed to fix the issue my Bluetooth connected to my phone instantly like it should thank you
I have a 2022 and it rebooted itself after watching this. It went back to zero and everything. I don't know what kind of voodoo was that but it did rebooted by itself.

I have a 2021 Touring Accord for reference.
It worked great on my 2.0 with the button trans selector. It took a couple of tries.

Hi Jon. Can you backup your custom settings on a USB thumb drive before performing a Factory Reset and then restore the settings after the reset is finished? It looks like there would be some way to do this. Nobody wants there settings wiped out when dealer service is performed without having a backup/restore custom settings capability.
I doubt Honda would make that possible.

I wonder how it’ll work in newer Honda’s that have button activated gear controls. I have a pilot and don’t have an actual gear stick.
I have a honda insight 2020 (which has buttons only) and it worked. Took me about 10 times. Not sure if if that helped, but I kept holding down neutral at the end of the process

How did you even figure out the sequence to clear the status hours? My Apple CarPlay literally disappeared earlier today and I was losing my mind trying to figure out why…found this video and tried it as my 22’ Accord Touring was showing 651 hrs. and as soon as it reset to “0” CarPlay connected immediately. Fingers crossed this is a permanent fix. Thank you very much!
