Both are great to drive! GR86 has the manual! 230 is faster but the 86 is tighter handling. So depends if you want power and practicality or handling and mechanical feeling
Excellent review! I own this model without the MSport pack and it’s still great. Fun drive around town, as a daily it’s very comfortable and gets super gas mileage. No need for more power with this car.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed - I agree but there’s not much to buy here yet. They have a M240 coming in soon it’s available for $56k. That’s like my car plus about another $20k with taxes etc . Not sure it’s worth it. This 240i was only $40k.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed - My 230i was $40k and the M240i is $56k. $16k more for more power… which doesn’t affect the fun to drive. The handling and quality is so good for the 230i.
Great review! As a sidenote, you can match climate control settings by simply hitting the menu button on the climate control which then takes you directly to the iDrive screen where you can then synchronize both zones.
Ahh thanks for the tip! I know other BMW models are weird with that, and you have to go into the screen which I didn't see! They need a button visible, would make it easier!
Oderer a 230i a month ago with dynamic handling and m sport with a sun roof delete and it was under $42K! This car was na absolute bargin of a car and I highly recommend others take the jump. New WRX will be around 40k with a couple of options, as well as the Elantra N and GTI. Just pay a little more and go BMW and you get a lot more in return! was considering the 240I but I dont want the added weight and dont need AWD. seen a vid of a 230i getting to 60 in 5.1. This car is quick enough for me.
It's a great BMW for sure!! Very fun and economical and it defintely needs the packages you got to be fun and enjoyable! I'd go with the 240i, but this is great for the price!
@@dodgers4121 on FB many people are saying the wait is around 3 to 4 months. Unfortunately that is the day and age we live in. I’m just happy I won’t be paying some stupid mark up price. I’m fine with MSRP.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed These small sporty cars would do really good in the mountain roads with a torquey diesel engine, add a 6 speed manual with a M suspension package and people will buy it.
Id love to be in a position to complain about the volume knob is hard to reach when you have a bottle in front of it despite having a volume knob at your fingertips(steering wheel)
Just pointing out observations with the car. Water bottle does get in the way of that knob. It's a fact. Don't let a fact offend you lol. Yeah the steering wheel button will be easier to use anyways. But I'm just pointing things out that I noticed while driving this car.
why do American versions on the 2 series coupe come with such low spec and options compared to the UK? dynamic "packl" is standard, digital dials are standard, handling pack is standard
Depends on if you have money in the bank or not. Also depends on how much you spend vs how much you make. You can buy anything on any salary. It your expenses and savings that determine if and how you can buy this
Got mine in May and I fall more in love with it everyday 😊
Oh sweet! Yeah these are really good cars!
Great enthusiast car, as expected from bmw. Well done
I agree! Good solid option for an affordable price
Which is more fun to drive : bmw 230i or gr86?

Nice review, as always!
Thanks! Fun BMW to check out!

It’s definitely a fun car! I do like the m sport package though, for me I would have to get that, but it is a great daily!

And then the Euro goes worthless just like Japanese Yen. Then what are you going to do when something breaks on the BMW?
I ordered on Feb 16 and I am still waiting for it........

Can you do mini cooper reviews
We did a few years ago, but don't have a Mini dealer to work with at the moment!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i hope soon😭
Can you do a night time drive video on this vehicle I’m curious on how well the interior and exterior lights perform!
I won't be able to, I only had this car for a week and the camera really won't pick up all that right properly to show that!
I’d have the full M240i xDrive.
I hope we can check one out at some point!
It is a good looking car, would love one with a small turbo diesel engine as a daily driver.
That would be interesting to see! We don't get diesels in our BMW's here!

Are you sure you aren’t taking another the M240i? This is a lower trim level so options are available!
6:30 "Its not a fast car" 🤔🤔
I would consider this car fast.
It’s not really quick, but handles very well!
The M240 would be a fast car, this isn’t really fast.
Fast enough at 5.4 seconds to 60 for most people.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed 0-60 in 5 seconds is fast lol
I’m currently making $13/hr as a software engineer, can I afford this BMW?

just curious, where is your job now?
