    I had a viewer send me a generous contribution and this link. If you guys need a replacement heatsink you can find one here from their shop. parts-hq.com/shop/5h40s19962-heatsink-thm-with-fan-847882
    Ebay and Amazon are usually good sources as well.

      This fan assembly, with heat sink and everything costs $52 on Lenovo's site, and it is OEM. The site you linked wants $150 for it... wild...

    MIN 25:48 that part that bends is like a plastic tape if you peel it off you expose the center of the fan, I put some oil on it and it's working fine, but that's half a solution because now you need to seal it back 🤷‍♂...btw thanks for video!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  Год назад +2

      Nice! Most laptop models aren't designed like that, so I didn't check. Haha

    • @CrimsonStrider
      @CrimsonStrider Год назад +2

      This was actually a really helpful comment, because you don't need to remove the heatsink at all.
      When you peel back the tape there is a tiny hole on the edge of the fan right where the blades meet the middle. You can see some copper wiring and perhaps a plastic bit where the fan rotates. Maybe a circuit board at the bottom. Something that looks like the end of screw in the middle.
      I wiggled some lightweight oil into the hole (difficult too do). Need to replace the tape. We'll see how long this holds.
      Did you try destroying the junk fan after replacing it to see if there is a method to repair it a little easier?.

  • @bruzote
    @bruzote Год назад +1

    Thanks for this helpful video.
    Did you know that the cost of the fan for this model is OBSCENE! One can get used versions of this computer model for *less than this simple part*! Yes, such computers are used, BUT THE COMPUTER ONE IS FIXING IS ALSO USED. So, it is LITERALLY cheaper to just buy another computer rather than the fan. That situation should not be. It seems extremely artificial and forced on the market. I suspect Lenovo did this on purpose or at least allowed to happen with disregard for the consequences felt by their customers.
    Good god, this enrages me. If I had known Lenovo would screw over its customers this bad, I would not have bought it. Consider me an HP customer from now on!
