RETRO- I remember the Mirada, I was 13 when they were first out in showrooms I thought they were about the only HANDSOME cars back then when everyone else was driving Ford Escorts... these cars had very comfortable seats and optional stereo sound systems that were really great!
The Dodge Mirada is an unusual car, I was drawn to it primarily by its sharp angular design. It looks like a razor blade.
My first car was a 1981 Dodge Mirada with a slant six engine. I loved the look of the car but it was a mechanical nightmare. I had to constantly get it repaired.
There's something about it that's too angular, too sharp. There's something about it that draws you in, probably the razor-sharp front end of the car.
LOOKS MORE LIKE THE SMALL VERSION OF THE THUNDERBIRD STICK A OLDER 383 IN IT THERE EASY TO FIND AND WAS A GOOD MOTOR WHAT THE OLDER ROADRUNNER HAD IN THEM AND I LIKE TO PUT A ALUMINUM HIGH RAISE AND PUT A NEW 396 QUDROJET ON IT RUN HEADRS WITH STRAIGHT PIPE
I well remember a TV ad for this car showing a woman putting the car in gear, hitting the accelerator and it spitting gravel--my guess is they did this on gravel because there's no way this car with any of its available engines could break the tires free on dry pavement! :D And maybe it's just me but those angular lines of the car while looking pretty good especially for its time appear to be a close copy of certain Fords of the day e.g. the Lincoln in the picture in this video sitting beside it!
I agree with you that the design of the car looks a bit like the Ford Mustang RSX, Ford Mustang IMSA and a bit like the Ford Microsport.
I disagree having owned one with a slant 6 I could get the tires to break on dry pavement but you did need to powershift to do it. I do miss that car but the New York salt killed the body
