I commented the same thing on your instagram when you posted about working out in public with your drawing desk/easel... but I absolutely love it and think it's one of the coolest and most unique ideas I've seen in a while!! I love that you featured it here! I definitely want to try it myself, but I am not sure where I'd even set up. 😆 I live in West Virginia so it's a pretty small place, but I know it's worth a shot!

That question: “Did you go to Art college?” I hate that question - I have heard that countless times.
Personally I did not go to art college- I went to nursing school and took many art classes (as a stress relief- that should have told me something 🙃). I have never worked as a nurse but I have been a commercial artist/illustrator.
People do not understand that art school doesn’t really prepare you for an art career- it teaches you how to use supplies, how to implement certain techniques etc. Artists learn most by spending time practicing and honing their own skills. It’s not merely talent either- often people will say “you are lucky to have talent “!! No it’s not luck (certainly it’s a blessing from God to have these inclinations and abilities to learn) but it’s time and effort to hone the skill. Talent will take an artist no where if they don’t work at it! I feel we are rewarded for the amount of time and effort we put in with more & more skill. Just like a violinist- they may have a unique ability to understand and hear the music but they just can’t pick up a violin and play well without practice…. Unless of course they are a savant- same with Art!
I have had to remind myself that people walking by are probably just merely curious to know if I’ve been to art school. I think sometimes these people are artists or aspiring themselves and want to meet someone else with a similar background doing what they want to do.
You are so sweet- I really enjoy your content- you are definitely an artist who has worked to hone your skills!!!
