This Battlefield war story will go down as my all time favorite war story. I get tired of trying to explain to people that not all Germans were evil. The allies were evil as well and frankly seeing the emotion of the Tiger crewman humanized and contrasted the difference between German regulars and Nazis in the German military. The soundtrack for this war story made it even more memorable for me.
Given he was loyal, and his devotion was heartbreaking from a certain standpoint. But he singlehandedly killed the whole tank crew. Sent Hartmann out which led to his death, killed Kertz when there was no hope left for them, and then (maybe) killed Peter when he surrendered.

The truth is never clear, perhaps it never existed. For all that is right and wrong is only chosen at the end. Because when we go to war for what we believe to be right we join in innocence but in the end we don’t fight for what is true. We fight to survive. When the constant threat of you being next is present you no longer care if your enemy is wrong. You don’t care what is right. For in war all you hope for is that you live.
