- Here it is, Finally got the time to upload it. Enjoy! - To Clear things up guys. The song was most certainly written in a spiritual way, but its left open to be interpreted in anyway. The band mates are christian, but they separate that from their music in terms of a 'genre

my history teacher played this while we worked in class. This music will forever remain in me.
Woooow, this song defined my time in my church's Youth Group, circa 2004-2005.
My church’s youth group used it in a missions trip in 2005 how crazy! Haha
@@IcedSilver46 it's such a banger!
Does it really matter if they are a "Christian" rock band or not?! These guys freaking rock...enough said!
The song that lifts the spirit
The one I grew up listening to support the many sorrows of my youth
The melodies of my chreerished motivation
The perfect surrender for the thousand times I've found no reason to breath unless you are in the air .
I can't explain it, but I love the way Paul's vocals are mixed in this version more.
I like everything about this version better. Especially the drums
Also, I saw MuteMath live back in April of '06 (surprising how empty the hall was). Paul said he wrote "Control" while on a flight. He lost his cool and penned this song while praying for a safe landing. He now uses Valium when he has to go on long flights. :) Also, many bands with Christians in them will not want to be labeled as "Christian" because of the obvious presumptions made about Christian bands and the narrow genre into which they fit.
I saw them back in 2007 and was lucky enough to run into Paul and chat with him for a bit. Incredible musicians and just great people all around!
I met them. By listening to them on the radio.
This has always been my favorite Mutemath song, so why haven't I heard this version sooner? It's incredible!
This song is still killer
For any of you who may doubt the band's origins, take a look at EarthSuit. This band surfaced 11 years ago with Paul Meany and Roy Mitchell Cardenas as two of its members. In the "thanks" section in the liner notes, Paul states, "Thank you, God" and Roy states, "Thanks God for your everlasting love and mercy." This band was Christian, and stated so plainly. Whether or not they (P&R) still believe in it is between them and God. God gives us a choice: take Him or leave Him.
Matthew Lorthioir saw them back in the day at Christian mega concert for 4 days in Monterry, CA
I love this song so much cause it teaches us that we humans are in control of our lives , what we think. Say and do.
i love this song sooooo much its like i get goose bumps when he says "such a beutiful surrender" deep and very cool sounding.
This is the first time I listen to Mute Math, and I seriously already love them!!!
Take control of the atmosphere
Take me far away from here
There is no better loss than to lose myself in you
In a parachute to glide, I am captive in your sky
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
You can take my world you can fill the air
Take control, take control
It's such a beautiful surrender
It's such a beautiful surrender
It's such a beautiful surrender
It's such a beautiful surrender
Move me up through the darkest clouds
Till I've lost in the sun every shadow of doubt
There is no better find than to find myself with you
In a fog you are all I see
I'm inviting you closer with each time I breathe
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
There is no reason I should breathe unless you're in the air
Take control
Its such a beautiful surrender
Its such a beautiful surrender
And I'm calling out
Would you take control
And I'm calling out
'take control of the atmosphere'
best part of this song ^^
Oh, God bless you! I've been looking for this for forever!
wow, i haven't heard this song in 5 years!! What a great song :)
Exactly how I think and feel of Yahawahshi though I knew this song before I came to know Him.
This song was my summer of '05. And it's still my favorite MuteMath song, if not my favorite song period.
I love this song!!! Just heard it on the radio for the first time. Thankyou Lord!
I believe this song is definitely about God. It's beautiful and I love it so
wow this song really tugs at strings long forgotten
Love this song... Free will is a gift from Our Heavenly Father Jehovah. He grants us the right to choose how to live but whispers gently to us how amazing our lives will be if we only allow Him in...
i wish they still made music that sounds like this EP. by far my favorites songs from them were from this time
I watch this guys playing this song in live at ROCK AL PARQUE and it was great.
They are great....! i love them so much, all of their songs are a rush of blood to the head.
They blow it (your head) in just a second and even more when they are on stage
Thanks for finally posting it!
This is probably one of my favorite MuteMath songs.
I have 3 favorites.
It goes:
1. Progress
2. Control
3. Noticed
this is LEGIT. i love it's best: meaningful, simple, and complex all in one.
I remember watching them in Glasgow (Scotland, UK) and this song stood out for me. Was i an intimate venue aswell. Brilliant.
That base is godly.
This song, Peculiar People, and Noticed are one of MuteMath's most powerful songs. And even though they don't directly sing about God in their songs, those three are undoubtedly Christian. Pay attention to the lyrics.
God and MuteMath ftw
Melhor banda de todas
There are pretty much no words for how much I love this song.
such a beautiful surrender.....
this is the song that started MY muteMATH journey. the live version of this (6:56) is really fantastic. they have gone through some major changes for sure and IMHO have maintained the course. genius players no doubt, but most important< brothers in the Lord.
I'm so glad i was introduced to this band!
This song... It's so beautiful.. that bass.. ❤️❤️
music should be open to interpretation, so if people think it's a Christian song or a love song, let them think so. Don't force what you think on other people. especially since we're on the youtube and no matter what you say and how long you argue, no one is going to change their minds, so let's close our eyes, appreciate these beautiful lyrics, and live and let live :)
this song really helped me through tough life situations.. thx mutemath
@MrMadpackit Yeah... The same thing happens to me with Reset and Obsolete...
I love this songs!!
@30stmred21 "We're obviously a band; that's really all we ever wanted to be from the very beginning without catering to any particular genre or political or religious agenda. We just want to make music with no barriers." -Paul Meany, mutemath's lead singer
I think what you all need to learn here is everyone is supposed to interpret a song for themself. Some might think this is about God, a girl, whatever. Love it either way, because MUTEMATH is awesome!
Beautiful song. Love it
One of the best bands out there, goddamn I want them to come to Italy to see them live.
Song is cool
Oh for cry out loud people, get a room. This is no place to argue, this is where we listen to this beautiful. So buzz off.
what a beautifully written song..
everyone of there freaking songs is AWESOME I LOVE THEM!
Great music!
Love this song! I thought it was Switchfoot the first time I heard it. Such a talented vocalist.
Best song of all time!
Awesome song!!!
I ♥ this song. I first heard this on the Effect =]
I like this song so much that i dont want to share it with anyone... Havent any of you had that feeling before?
Thanks for posting this.
@Biggestmutemathfan
"For us, we just try to keep it simple. We're obviously a band; that's really all we ever wanted to be from the very beginning without catering to any particular genre or political or religious agenda. We just want to make music with no barriers" - Paul Meany -
Go to one of their shows, it will clear everything right up. Just listen and enjoy the music people. It's damn sure better than other mainstream shit. (Gaga, Bieber, etc.)
HAHA yes!! I love this song!!!
This is killin me. A few years ago when I had first discovered the greatness that is Top Gear, a fan had posted a music video using this song as a tribute. The song & video were perfect! If you had never seen top gear, or heard of mute math you'd think it was MM's official music vid. Yes, it was that well done. If anyone knows where I can find it do tell... It was taken down and I haven't found it since. Still a great song though.. with or without vid. :)
Best song ever
actually its a great way to address the problem . just because it doesnt work foryou doesnt mean i have to change
This song rocks!!!!!
@Biggestmutemathfan and warpigs777: Here's how I see/understand it: This album and the next (forgot what it was called,) are when they where considered a christian band. Then in Armistice, they were not. I'm sure if you asked them if they are christians, they won't deny it, though.
yea it is sweet!
Niche.
Does this song have 2 versions? Because this sounds slightly different than the one on the album
Yes. The vocals are mixed a little differently on the album version. I personally like this one better.
@Biggestmutemathfan @Biggestmutemathfan "I used to be in a very overt Christian band, and I think once we started Mute Math, and there were spiritual undertones in the music--and we'll openly state, yeah, we're Christian--we watched how the Christian division of Warner Bros. just ran with it. And they ran with it faster than Warner Bros. ran with it in the general market," explained Meany.
@lhs04 same way with all bands for me too but all bands are gonna change their style a little bit, but it's proven to be true that we all come back to our roots so i wouldn't be surprised if they started songs like this again
@shannonthegreek I just found that out today I was really surprised but im glad they are!! :D
@DarkMikaruX i got their Armistice Live cd and it came with the dvd and it has the official and the reason why they took it down
@shannonthegreek If anything, they're just christians in a band. :D
@KikeJHN Well you must have the best history teacher ever. You best be getting A+'s in that class!
such a BYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-Teeful surrender.
take control.
No dislikes! :D
I actually prefer this version to the rerecorded one on the self titled album.
@switchheelfront360 Go to their website forum and find a few videos on them talking about it, and we will see who the "deaf" one is.
@ickma Ummm... Yes?
@californiagurl5509 I saw them in January! TOTALLY WORTH IT! They're AMAZING live
This is truly a prayerful song. "Surrender has somehow become so beautiful." As a Catholic, this song basically sums it all up. Not to mention it kicks ass. Rock on, MuteMath.
@indorocker88 As are majority of bands actually.
@ShastaJade11 Same here!
heeyyyy nice background picture :D it looks like an expanded version of the Reset EP album art, where'd you get it?
@mellymeliza
My Three Favorites are
1. Burden
2. Progress
3. Picture
They are gunna release a new song today if you go to the Concert in New Orleans. I hope i can contact someone thats going and pick it up from them and upload it here. Its going to be the finished version of "The Fight"
@Biggestmutemathfan well even if they werent christian what would be so bad about them being christian?
@Greatestmutemathfan hah, touché!
@zczcbl Agreed...and they did win a Dove Award, which would be the Christian equivalent of a Grammy ♥♥
@HOLYtDESTROYER "and have sated this many times in videos interviews and even on their own website." Need i say more?
@MrMadpackit Yep... but i eventually give in because it hurts me that nobody else i know knows about it haha
They are Christians who make music not labeled as "Christian". Regardless of their faith, it's excellent music.
@indorocker88 Yeah the first time I saw them wow it must be 4 yrs ago was at this Christian festival sort of thing and they were like god bless and such. i'm pretty sure most of them r christian but theyve stated they don't want ne religous affiliations shannonthegreek
@revan963963 Amen! Yea @biggestmutemathfan, who is taking control of the atmosphere then?
@shannonthegreek Are you aware that they aren't and have sated this many times in videos interviews and even on their own website.
@roundabout10people Well don't delay man! Tell..do tell.. this video has eluded me for long enough. Need more info... do you have it? Hand it over and no one gets hurt! lol
If people want to know, some of the members of this band are christian. If you search Paul Meany on youtube, the first video your going to get is a worship song sung by him. However, Mutemath is not a "Christian Band" just like Switchfoot, Skillet, 12 Stones, The Fray, Owl City, and more. but each of these bands throws in a song about God every once in a while.
0 dislikes !!
love this band gr 9 til now hahaha shit
@arcka that's the band's stance on things, from what i know. they don't want to cater to any particular audience or demographic, they just want to make the best music they possibly can. that's why they rejected the tags of being a Christian band.
control it seems, i lose my mind everytime i hear this song, ironic ain't it
@zczcbl hahaha when you have a true relationship with Christ you cannot help everything you do being peppered with praise to Him! :)
@Biggestmutemathfan
@ all of you: who really cares? the music is great
