Went to every live show in Texas back when I was in high school. Met the whole crew at a coffee shop after a show one time. Talked to the drummer. I had been drumming myself for a few years. It was like talking to the final boss of my craft. Thanks for the chat Darren.
Theyve said that they do use click tracks. Paul even said it live when i saw them at club nokia. Its also to hear him self and the other members. One thing that a LOT of people dont realize is that they have a bunch of layers, samples, and backing tracks that all trigger and follow very precise patterns that they have to keep PERFECT time with. There is a LOT of work and timing and precision that goes into a mutemath show.
@@SoumitraVichare annoying when people say backing tracks is cheating but it's actually more difficult because the band has to be super tight and on beat for them to stay in sync with the backing track
He dubs with a foot pedal and plays a different beat the next measure or whatever. Still incredibly innovative. I have seen many concerts, and this band is both my number 1 and 2 because I have seen them twice.
This really is an amazing piece of music, held together with an equally incredible, unrelenting drummer that is nothing short of a genius. The drums are the true hero in this, an absolute driving force that provides an incredible groove for the band to jam to. Simple notes on guitars, nice keys, a few electronic effects and a frankenstein guitar. Simple sounding but technically off the Richter. Bloody beautiful.
They remind me of Pink Floyd from their most creative period. Absolutely amazing music. I hope they have the success that Pink Floyd enjoyed for many years.
I listen to so many drummers, and so many of them overplay or overstate a song - this guy nailed the groove and sound of this band - awesome to listen to
god i'm a drummer myself and normally i love listening to guys like Neil Pert, Mike Portnoy, or Carter Beauford. But this guy is just on his own. In fact this whole band is... I really want to see them live because this whole DVD is amazing
I LOVE these guys I've seen/met them 3 times Once in D.C. and 2 times in Baltimore their musical vocabulary not just on Rock but also Jazz is ASTOUNDING!
I think he use his headphones for the monitor mix probably without the KLICK - amazing! I´m from Germany - unfortunately almost nobody knows about this great band here. But when I play all CDs or DVDs of them - almost everybody is excited!
That's where I freaking heard this from!! That damn organ melody was killing me like I've heard this somewhere before. Very nice, thanks for posting that, you have eased my stressful mind :P
I got to play the Atari guitar at our concert (2009 at Cains in tulsa) Paul threw the guitar to the crowd and we got to play with it.....then after 2 mins the security guy got it back.....It was EpiC!
this was insane live during the Armistice Tour. it was also insane how they followed reset and ended the show with break the same. fucking epic. if u havent seen them live yet you better fucking do it. they will just seize control of every particle of your body and vibrate them with their amazing tunes. mutemath ftw!!!!
Music is music, I completely agree. People can attach whatever lyrics they want to music, but music unto itself is detached from the world of religion and politics and everything that goes along with it.
to be completely honest, i only clicked on the video link because i wanted to see Darren do the drums to this song live... it sounds and looks unreal. I can imagine what he's thinking "hey, where'd all my drums go" hahaha
They all seem to be in their own world and at the same they come together really well and it just sounds beautiful.I dont even care if that sounds cheesy. This band is purly amazing.I would love to see them live.Love it*Hint hint*

Captures everything that is magical about MUTEMATH. Hope they set aside their differences and return someday. They are sorely missed.
dk roy and a new guy corey did a show in tn at a small drum called nelson. check it out
Most underrated young drummer of today
Chris Allen at the House of Blues in San Diego, he put some water on the drums and hit them and it kept flying in the air through the lights
Jason G.
SICK. Still haven't seen them live somehow. Ugh.
+Chris Allen Who rated him poorly?
Most underrated band ever :(
Bbng drummer is actually the most underrated
That drummer is so bloody talented is unbelievable!! played the drums in so many different ways I cant comprehend what the f.. just happened..
He dubs with a foot pedal and plays a different beat the next measure or whatever.
Still incredibly innovative. I have seen many concerts, and this band is both my number 1 and 2 because I have seen them twice.

I don't a more talented group of musicians in todays music. The drummer is beyond everything i've EVER heard. An amazing talent.
Darren doesn't play to a clicktrack. He IS the clicktrack
Correct!
The clicktrack follows HIM ;)
They remind me of Pink Floyd from their most creative period. Absolutely amazing music. I hope they have the success that Pink Floyd enjoyed for many years.
Oh my god, Paul ran over and did the effects for Darren's drums. That's amazing. You learn so many great details watching them play.
nothing compares to this.... much love much respect

Mute Math is the most talented band I've ever seen in my entire life.
I listen to so many drummers, and so many of them overplay or overstate a song - this guy nailed the groove and sound of this band - awesome to listen to

Imagine producing a record with weird glitch effects, sample retriggers etc etc. AND THAN PLAYING IT LIVE TO PERFECTION. Fuck me, that was phenomenal.

This is quite possibly my favourite of all of Mute Math's tracks!
I think he use his headphones for the monitor mix probably without the KLICK - amazing! I´m from Germany - unfortunately almost nobody knows about this great band here. But when I play all CDs or DVDs of them - almost everybody is excited!

My very deeeep respect for that drummer.
Soo groovy, I do not know anyone to compare him to.
Music is music, I completely agree. People can attach whatever lyrics they want to music, but music unto itself is detached from the world of religion and politics and everything that goes along with it.
