I think a video on how to align TX & RX frequency and properly tune a Radio and what equipment is involved would make a lot of viewers happy! Also included should be "Why to leave this to the professionals." Love the vids keep them going!
thanks for the great demonstration guys definitely an AWESOME reference . most guys in the industry im sure dont like this but whatever us little guys appreciate it. im a builder so i know all about keeping things off front street
@powellvalley No the chassis is made of aluminum. You can solder to any of the solder spots on the same pad as that screw that holds the PCB to the chassis.
where can you obtain the scribe that you use, and where do you get the grommet that you installed in the back of the radio, what kind of pad are you using under the radio to do the work on, what model soldering iron are you using and last question what is the tool you used to remove the rivets after drilling the tops of the rivets thak you
ChannelMaster720 , If you search for "show it all series" and bellscb the first thing that comes up is the Show it all playlist from Bells CB. I will place a link under the video above.
Keep in mind I'm a novice so this may be a dumb question. When it comes to the chassis ground, can you just solder the ground wire directly to the chassis?
on a DX959 with the *new* main board (the vietnamese board) is the +8 VDC still at JP97? I am trying to install an RFX85HD and need a source for the +8VDC. Also the input and output grounds for the rf-in and rf-out go to the chassis ground, **not** DC ground, correct?
Love the video for sure but would love to know on the thicker power cord can there be a cigarette lighter plug attached to it like you can with a normal power cord for a Galaxy DX-959?
Excellent video, I was wondering what kind of coax are you using. It doesn't seem to be anything I've used in my truck before. Can that also be used in a base set up.
@oilfield01trash01 --- We kind of go with the radios that we are getting orders for. If someone orders a 3300HP with an RFX-75 I will keep you in mind and do a vid on that one. Thanks for watching. :o)
@therandomprojects For normal ICS use on AM not bad at all, stays pretty cool. For a 20 minute conversation on SSB, now we are talking very hot. It sounds like a good experiment on video in the future.
Where do you guys have a price list of costs of having tune ups done, additions like the RFX-75, etc? I have a DX959 I'd like to have looked at and tweaked. Thanks! Jeff
To get a better modulation pattern plug the horizontal scope input ( use external sweep ) into the PA jack on the radio and couple a sample of the RF output to tne vertical input. This will gjve a trapezoid pattern much easier to read. 73, K4OF.
hi guys great videos i have a galaxy 949 and i put an echo board in it but it lights up the board when turned on but no matter where i put the input outputs on the mic jack board it damn wont echo at all its got me stumped and im to far from you guys to pop in im in australia any help would be fantastic about the board inputs thanks . keep em coming we love your vids here in aussie
Nice work guys, very neat, had some interesting chats at our radio club about the danger of that 2nd neg - DC fuse and the damage it can cause if there is ever a problem when mobile due to some antennas and some mounting inst. being DC grounded, seemingly the second fuse was only ever intended for use when in older cars/trucks with a pos + earth system? its all new to me so I am leaving mine in place. keep up the good work. Phil 26CT867
Dude- You say this is "Video 3 in our new 'show it all' series". Cool! But, I can't find any such Video 1 or 2 on any subject. Are they still posted? Thanks!!
I have a GF who lives in Central Brazil and she's got a brother in-law who is a radio amateur that also likes to use SSB on American CB frequencies because it's very easy for him to make plenty of contacts. I've visited there many times, taking new Ham radio gear for the guy. His station is inside of a very tall apartment building in a big city and the HOA has let him put a good antenna farm on the roof. From 2 meters to 20 meters with beams, and a 40 / 80 meter Inverted-V. He has asked me to get an SSB radio set up in the US so, I'm looking at a few basic SSB radios to decide what might work well on 11 and maybe FM on 10 meters. It's about 10,000 kilometers as the crow flies from my house to his.
i don't work on radios because of my nerves will not let me.. i do wish i had a tech that could work on old radis. i have a drake receiver that needs work. i have watched a lot videos, but most of them are ten or el eleven years old. i do hsbr s twenty five ten that is wish i could get the power cord connected to the board I do wonder why all the work on a new radio right out of the box?.
Awesome Thanks! How does that resistor affect the CB? I installed the rfx-75 in my cobra29, but the 330k resistors didn't arrive yet in the mail, so I use a 100k I had lying around. Currently with the vehicle off im getting 15w dead key 23 watt swing. With the vehicle running Im getting 35 watt dead get but I am getting reverse swing to 30 watt when I key in. Any thoughts?
Why doesn't anybody have them anymore ?? Your always sold out according to website. My local guy...truckscbsales...doesnt have any either. Did they fall out of favor or end up being a bad mod ?? I had a cobra 29 with a rfx75 about 10 years ago and it lasted about 3 months.
The guy doing the modification didn't excellent job. However the guy handling the camera in the narration made me seasick moving the camera around so much. Thank you for an excellent video
You are right, I don't deny it. I used to give them what they asked for rather than what I knew was best. I have come a long way since then. Do notice that we are talking about a radio....11 years ago. 𝑺𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨 🔔 𝘾𝘽
Thanks for this video. I appreciate it but, I'm a 60 year old engineer with more than 40 years of hands-on technical experience so,rather than watching an out of focus view of a shaky PCB, a nice still shot of the Before and After schematics would tell 98% of the "story" with much more clarity. Only the tune-up procedure would need to follow in video format. Can you just show us the schematics? Please?
look at the scope LOL that is one splattered transmission! At 27:28, what is that about 145% modulation? That would sound like me in the morning after too many beers and a few boiled eggs, maybe some broccoli and beans farting into an echo mic! What a joke!
I think a video on how to align TX & RX frequency and properly tune a Radio and what equipment is involved would make a lot of viewers happy! Also included should be "Why to leave this to the professionals." Love the vids keep them going!
I love these step by step how to videos you guys post. I just purchased a rfx today and now I can install it with your help. keep it up! Thank you!
Where does one find this rfx 75?
What is it he is installing and what does it do? 😊
thanks for the great demonstration guys definitely an AWESOME reference . most guys in the industry im sure dont like this but whatever us little guys appreciate it. im a builder so i know all about keeping things off front street
Great video boys, would love to see how you set the bias etc.
Am enjoying all your vids from here in the UK.
Hi mate enjoy your CB work so interesting keep up the good work
@powellvalley No the chassis is made of aluminum. You can solder to any of the solder spots on the same pad as that screw that holds the PCB to the chassis.
Good job guys! I wonder how far it will talk and receive?

What size grommet did u use to run the rfx wires thru the back of the radio? and where do i get a grommet? im assuing u used a metal?thx
ChannelMaster720 , If you search for "show it all series" and bellscb the first thing that comes up is the Show it all playlist from Bells CB. I will place a link under the video above.
You need to do more of those what is the price of the radio and amp in the labor and all that out the door
Great video guys I've same radio here is there anyway of expanding the bands or putting fm in ?
how much would you charge for one of these radios with this installed?
I'm guessing you filmed this with a flip video recorder. My has the same exact audio problem.
Keep in mind I'm a novice so this may be a dumb question. When it comes to the chassis ground, can you just solder the ground wire directly to the chassis?
After installing My rfx75 on my 959 I have very little RF power and no carrier it may swing from 0 to 5 watts what did i do wrong?
Whats your technique for striping in the middle of a wire. It looks like such a neat clean cut.
Great video guys, keep them coming.

***** RG-213. It is very good for base station use.

I like all your mod vids. Do you think you can do some informative vids on how to choose the right mic's and antennas? Thanks for the vids...
I have the same dx 959 radio how much do you charge to do this to my galaxy dx 959
@oilfield01trash01 --- We kind of go with the radios that we are getting orders for.

What is the cost of the radio with amplifier
This was very intresting and cool, I'd love to see more :)
I'm going to agree with webs, would love to have seen scope and the tune. Great vid
do you have a video on a install RFX-75 in a Galaxy DX 99v
@therandomprojects For normal ICS use on AM not bad at all, stays pretty cool. For a 20 minute conversation on SSB, now we are talking very hot. It sounds like a good experiment on video in the future.
can you squeeze more channels out of the uppers and lowers and can a bigger frequency counter be added on
on the 959
hi it;s nice where do you have your shop? or where can i get RFX for my galaxy 959 thanks
DOSY ARRIVED, THANK THE CALL. BIG HUG!
Where they working at?
Way too much background noise.
Can you do a video on tune up and alignment procedure for Galaxy 959 and a Cobra 29. Great video's.
you rock.. you are the best .. cb radio man...love the vids. thank you.for your hard work to make the videos
No it didn't suck. Good job. is there any bias adjustments that need to be readjusted?
how can i get a hold of you i have 2 10 meter radios need help
Where do you guys have a price list of costs of having tune ups done, additions like the RFX-75, etc? I have a DX959 I'd like to have looked at and tweaked.

Jeffrey Wimmer at www.bellscb.com and go to the 959 page. They are all listed.
+Bells CB that 959 look like nice radio like the big meter on it how is stock mic on it
What exactly does RFX-75 DO
@@tunnelrat1439 replaces the original rf amplifier that came with the radio. the rfx-75 produces 75 watts.
@@tunnelrat1439 make the radio more power out of it.
Can you put a Rfx85or 150 on a old school Connex 3300 single final radio .
I enjoy your vid's but im disapointed on the watts, 29 classic does way more. Im looking forward to a video on the RFX-150 install.

73, K4OF.
Just saying "Thanks!"
I would like to see how to use an oscilloscope. Where to connect on the PCB of a radio ..etc...
Nice i would love to see a RFX-75 put in an old Midland
You do excellent work
It would be great if you can show other mod as in installing echo boards, vari power or rodger beeps ect....
hi guys great videos i have a galaxy 949 and i put an echo board in it but it lights up the board when turned on but no matter where i put the input outputs on the mic jack board it damn wont echo at all its got me stumped and im to far from you guys to pop in im in australia any help would be fantastic about the board inputs thanks . keep em coming we love your vids here in aussie

What is that pic looking thing you keep using? Is pretty cool. Sorry if it's a lame question but I gotta know.
to 1969charger..., It is the top of a very old antenna stinger, we used the grinder to make a nice point on it, the back has a corona ball on it.
Bells CB Can you provide a link to the instructions for doing this to an old 959 with the 2SC1969 final?
www.cbtricks.com/miscellaneous/accessories/power_band/rfx_75/graphics/rfx75_install_guide_galaxy_959_etc_1969.pdf
should do an rfx 150 on a general lee. i would love to pop one of them in my gen lee
How about a rfx 75 in a connex 3300 HP?
my 959 is the same way after installing the rfx75 I don't know what to do
for the cobra 29 rfx-75 installation, cbtricks says to use a 330k resistor. Did you mean to say 300k, instead of 3.3k like you did?
Yes, icedout782, the 330K is the right number for R48,. I usually use a 390K.
Awesome Thanks! How does that resistor affect the CB? I installed the rfx-75 in my cobra29, but the 330k resistors didn't arrive yet in the mail, so I use a 100k I had lying around. It attenuates the mic gain so you wont over-mod so much.
Why doesn't anybody have them anymore ?? Your always sold out according to website. My local guy...truckscbsales...doesnt have any either. Did they fall out of favor or end up being a bad mod ?? I had a cobra 29 with a rfx75 about 10 years ago and it lasted about 3 months.
can you do one on a galaxy Saturn
I installed an RFX-85 in a Galaxy DX959 with your video. I'm only getting 25 Watts on AM and about 50 on SSB. Any ideas?
did you install the blue wire for the +8VDC to JP97?
looking for new swr/power/mod meter for galaxy 959
how much for one like that
My Dx-959 is still in a box to its new i hope i can get you to do this to my radio Thanks Rodney
Buy a 100 watt linear, you dont need to screw up your radio.
Can you do this to me ranger 2950dx?
Yes but prefer the RFX-150 on the 2950DX
The guy doing the modification didn't excellent job. However the guy handling the camera in the narration made me seasick moving the camera around so much. Thank you for an excellent video
They didnt need to do it, just buy a linear and get 100 watts and not drill the radio.
great job great vid keep it up ,ill be watchin thanks guys
How about showing how you turned it
nice radio what just stock on the watts not tune up be cbells on this 959
i would love to see a Galaxy DX 33hp2 worked on

Excellent video. Thank you.
Wow I'd love to have one if those in my cobra 29 LTD

What is a rx 75?
Horse power. clean horse power.
i love to see more
@414730 They are definitely coming soon, subscribe to the channel. Thanks
I dunno...I'd swear I saw some flatt-topping of the audio on that scope. I'd like to see the spectral output as well. I'll bet it's dirty as hell.

I rather leave my TX original and put a PA behind it., but it looks a nice job boys !
I saw a guy take one of your videos and critique you. He said ubhad no idea what ubr doing.
You might want to invest in a microphone that works .. Sounds like you shot the video in a blizzard..
I think they r great ty
Yea, this looks like a job I'd be looking to pay someone to do
