Nater, You are the man !!! T-Mobile should be paying you for the support you are giving to their users. You are not only the ONLY ONE coming up with the details on how to change options not even supported by the current firmware, but now you are simplifying the changing of those options with a PowerShell script. Thank you SO MUCH for doing this for us !!

I'm good with Windows, but not programming or networking. I'm hoping this helps me set up the new TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 (Archer AX21) router I ordered to use with T-Mobile. I am so glad I found you. It's also nice you respond and pay attention to things you've posted online.

You really out did yourself this time Nate! My trashcan was doing fine until the latest firmware update. Now I'm back to having to reboot every 2 weeks to keep my speeds up. With your new script now I have to really look closely into switching to the Arcadyan modem even though I haven't read much good reports on that one either.

    • @COASTER1921
      @COASTER1921 2 года назад +1

My trash can stopped working after ~10 months of use. No maintenance in my area, just persistent 100kbps downloads out of nowhere. Tech support seemed pretty confident it was the Nokia gateway and I didn't believe them at first, but sure enough with the Arcadyan my speeds are close to being back to what they were. Compared to the Nokia my latency is a bit better (18ms vs 25ms), upload speed the same (80-90mbps), and downloads a bit slower (~450mbps vs ~800mbps). But I'm right next to the tower so it's still quite "good" performance even with the download speed reduction.

I even saw this script on the tmobile forums. My neighbor keeps connecting his ps5 to my wifi. Also, get a lot of weird cookies from what he searches for too which was my first indication something was up. Spent 1.5hrs on with tmobile took them a minute to get that I don't play ps5 and the password is strong and network is hidden. The "fix "basically to reset it 3 times. He keeps popping on though my wifi though. This script 1000% works. THANK YOU BOTH!!!!

Great video and explanation, thank you. Now, confession time. I followed the instructions last week for at least 10 times, it appeared the script was running but nothing was changing with the arcadyan. I figured I would be one of those that it just was not going to work. Decided to try again this weekend and for some reason I remembered months back that I may have changed the router password when I originally did the setup. checked my notes I made when I got the arc and sure enough I did change it. Tried the correct password and worked perfectly.
If you input the wrong password there is no feedback and the script runs but just like he states in the video. For those that are getting no results, make sure you are putting the right password in the script.

I received my T-Mobile Arcaydian this week. I first connected my TP link mesh router and had both networks running simultaneously with no issues, router was only a foot or so away from the T-Mobile box). After a day of no issues I unplugged my MetroNet modem. Still no issues so I ran the script file while connected to the T-Mobile network. I got the txt file that shows the radios are both off (they did both keep being displayed for a few minutes but now have disappeared). I’ll be shipping MetroNet’s modem back to them next week if things continue to go well. Thanks Nate!

I finally got around to disabling the Tmobile Routers wifi transmission , for awhile I just plugged my Orbi to the KV21 and used my Orbi wifi, then after a week I started getting buffering on my TV, I decided to follow your instructions and turn off the wifi from the KV21. This has eliminate the buffering, I am thinking that due to the proximity of both routers there was interference and thereby creating the buffering. My speeds range from upper 30s to upper 80s with a "weak" signal. At this point I have not had any issues with my devices working as I expected.

THANK YOU, NATE!!! I just got this gateway, replacing the Nokia Fastmile, to get the new $25/month promo that T-Mobile is running. If anyone that is currently on any plan that is more expensive, THERE IS A WAY TO GET THE NEW PROMO. I added another 5G Home Internet line, so ended up with 2 Internet lines tempoarily. When the new gateway arrived I factory reset the original gateway and powered it down. I then cleared ALL DATA from my T-Mobile Internet app in the Android settings. This logs you out and removes all the data stored from the oringinal gateway. From there I just powered up the new gateway and followed the steps to set it up in the T-Mobile Internet app. Once everything was confirmed to work, I called T-Mobile Customer Service, 611 if you are also a T-Mobile cellular customer, and cancelled the original line. I now just have to return the old gateway. They even provide a shipping label if you don't want to go to your local T-Mobile store to drop it off. The only downsides are that, depending on the date of the month of your bill cycle, you may end up paying for both lines for 1 month. The other is that it's a crap shoot on which gateway you will get for the new line. For me, I get a better signal with the Arcadyan, but as Nate reminds everyone, those results may vary depending on your specific conditions. Hopefully this helps some people out to save some money.

OMG Nater Tater! What a wonderful service you are providing. I am brand new today to T-Mobile Home Internet after refusing to get hosed AGAIN by Spectrum w/ an outrageous end of promotional internet fee increase! My new Arcadyan KVD21 showed up yesterday and I installed it successfully today. I was fully expecting (based on RUclips research of the Nokia unit to be able to log in to it and turn off its Wi-Fi. NO GO as I found out. I did successfully plug in my outstanding ASUS RT-AX86U wireless router and all of my devices are working fine. My signal strength is 4 bars/Very Good pings/download & upload speed are good for my needs.
FYI: Mine came with Firmware 1.00.16 & UI Version 1.8.0. Guess What! This newer firmware went BACKWARDS! I now doesn't even have the ability to change the Admin PW at all! T-Mobile's "expert" confirmed that what I see is all I get. He suggested that the mobile phone app may have more capability, but he could not explain why it is doing nothing but spinning! It doesn't work and it sounded like he was seeing other internal comments about an App problem.
HOWEVER, I followed your excellent directions and have now turned off the Gateway Wi-Fi! Thank you so much for what your are doing and also thanks to unnamed person who created the script. At the risk of being ungrateful, ask him to see if he can add another option to the PowerShell script to be able to change the Admin Password. Not a dealbreaker, but xxxxx.xxxxxxx.xxx.xxxxxxx is a bit long for a password. Thanks again! I'll be ordering a sticker to slap on my Gateway and probably T-Shirt too!

Is it some type of USB to USB-c cable that connects the two devices? Then once the internal wifi is turned off, is there another cable that you use to connect the TMHI to a typical wireless router? I have the round trashcan and for the times that it locks up, I purchased a KeepConnect device which monitors the WIFI status and when no WIFI is detected, it resets the power to the T-Mobile device which creates a reset condition. The KeepConnect tests the WIFI signal every 5 minutes. It did take me a bit of messaging with KC's tech support to finally get configured, but it's been working well for a couple of weeks.

If i'm able to turn off the wifi on the gateway, am I supposed to keep the mesh as a AP or change it to router? Sorry, I,m tech dumb on this stuff.

I tried running the script and it didn't work and there was no config text file generated. Wifi is still turned on.

@@garotanielian3933 is your gateway model the KVD21 or the Fast 5688W? Double check the login password you are using in the script.

Could not get the script to work. Tried to download the config file (option 4) and it does not show up. Am I missing something? Downloaded the script using the link provided.

Yes that is one option. The other is factory reset the gateway

Can you connect Alexa to T Mobile 5g the way it is ? I run into a password issue. Would shutting off the WIFI and adding my own router solve this problem ?

Adding your own router likely will fix it. You might also be able to get alexa to connect if you separate out 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi on the gateway app too.
