1:13 Yea! LOL I have my new one in place this evening and thats far as I got with it.😀 Hey my rack and pinion shaft if out 180 to my steering wheel can I turn the shaft with a crescent wrench and line it up? If so which way to turn?
@@brandonsasser360 I can't remember what I did now but it seems more correct to move the steering wheel but being by myself I probably moved the rack and pinion shaft.
Blade I really appreciate you! Centered the rack and it worked like a charm. Then had to deal with the pressure switch acting as a vent, letting air in. Took uv dye to find the leak.
Thanks for your video,. its a helpful and a very good publication. Could you tell me how it goes or how the valve or pressure check on the upper hose goes please, I have a windstar 95, I changed the rack and pinion thing but that valve fell and I did not know how it goes back, . and I notice that it is exactly the part that you mention I was supposed to be careful but it happend... Thank you
Great. This clarifies the dropping of the frame member. So the entire engine and trans are sitting on that it sounds like. Like a comment below, I am wondering if I can do this with jack stands in the driveway. I have a trans jack to support the engine. Also, isn't it pretty easy to just remove that stabilizer bar or at least just loosen it up to get it out of the way?
hey there ,.. and happy Christmas, by the way,. .. I just change the whole thing in a windtsr 95, but,... I start the engine and the steering wheel just jumped like crazy and did a extremely sharp and hard turn to the left, really sudden and hard, my question is,.. Did i put that check valve the wrong way? or... did I put them hoses the wrong way? or what do you think could be??? the new rack and pinion thing could be bad??? hope its not that!!
goingsomewhere have you replaced Reservoir? There is a screen inside it acts like a filter. Plug up very easy. But usually take pumps out first. Otherwise find another parts supplier.
This is the best info I have found on this subject. I do have a question. Is it possible for a person who has little experience to change out the rack without using a car lift? I have jacks and stands but am hesitant to start on this repair. Besides that I'm an older semi disabled man.
I stand by the thought that everyone is born with a gift. Turning wrench on something is mine. First toolbox at age 6, my dad gave me his "doubles" of tools and it all started from there. My family tree is/was filled with "lets fix it, or build it" types. Ive had some schooling/ certified training. But alot of things a person can learn will not be in a book. Hands on is the best learning device. Thanks. ;)
Can buy a windstar with 80000 miles today for 3 grand or less....id. Go that route instead of messing with that . Pay someone to do it or just pay a tad more for the new ride
Steering is still stiff after new rack is this a pump issue or something like an adjustment on the rack?

I'm having the same issue, did you happen to resolve it?

@@brandonsasser360 Glad you got it whipped Brandon! So you put UV die in the power steering fluid?
