    12.5" midlength with the Vltor A5 would be a smooth system. If we have to wait for them, so be it. I'll gladly wait for them to fulfill their other projects if it guarantees there will be this one in the pipeline.

    The argument for steel case is that the money that you would save would be more than the price of a new barrel which would eventually happen for brass case anyway so it kinda evens out except you can get more training in. I personally run brass everything, but it's a fairly valid argument and if it means someone can X amount of more reps in at every range day, it's probably worth it, training trumps gear.

    My 12.5 is my go to; most versatile barrel length for a number of contingencies. It took me about two years to come to that conclusion. Looking forward to the Type A review. I recently picked up a Type A Contractor/11.5” after a 13 month wait. I live about 2 hours from Grand Rapids MI & decided to order one from the local guys. 1911 Syndicate & another youtuber(defcon maybe) spoke very highly of BG Defense/Type A Rifles so I decided to take a chance. Got the gun a couple months ago & slapped an EOTech XPS3-0 and then waited for my OSS HX-QD 556 TI(wasn’t going to shoot unsuppressed)can which I just picked up about a week ago. Taking it to the range this Friday…finally.
    During my wait for my Type A I heard many praises about them but the few negative comments were REALLY negative. Anyways this is my first +$2k AR15 purchase & I won’t be buying another AR15 for awhile. Just wondering if I should’ve bought LMT/Noveske/H&K/KAC. Buying a LMT MWS, Rattler/Canebrake, Staccato C2 AND a USP tac 45 around the same time didn’t help finances!😂
    Typical rookie shit having 5 incomplete rifles but it’s coming together. ANYWAYS looking forward to the review.

      Velocities look normal to me. M193 will average over 2800fps from an 11.5", and over 3000fps from 14.5".
      Book answer for M855 62gr from the 14.5" M4 was 2920fps.

    • @ussscounterassaultteam5790
      @ussscounterassaultteam5790 2 года назад

      @LRRPFco52 Wow that's really good. I was always told short barrels really hurt velocity and going from 20 to 14.5 to 10.3 even kills the ability to fragment. I always thought 20" barrels do 3000 [maybe a little more] and 14.5 is neutered but just gets by.
      Maybe I'm confusing 55 grain stats w/ 62. That could be it

    • @LRRPFco52
      @LRRPFco52 2 года назад

      @@ussscounterassaultteam5790 20" typically push M193 3200-3300fps, 62gr 3050-3150fps.
      Aberdeen high volume and cumulative fleet sample averages put M4 14.5" at 2920fps with real M855.
      Many of your .223 Rem loads are 200-400fps slower than 5.56 loads, so Fudds would do a lot of falsely-premised measurements to justify their advocacy for M14s or 6.8 SPC based on totally flawed data.
      A 12.5" shoots M193 faster (2950fps) than a 16" shoots Remington UMC .223 55gr FMJ (2930fps), for example.
      I'm not saying 5.56 is the hammer of Thor, just that gun rag articles in the 2000s were often highly flawed, void of relevant ballistic data on 5.56 carbines, substituting weak civilian 55gr, 68gr, 69gr data instead of actual M193 or M855.
      11.5"-14.5" with M193 is no joke within 200yds. Everyone except for one dude I've seen shot with 5.56 was from short barrels, and they all either died or had traumatic avulsions (meat fileted from bone, bones destructively fragmented beyond repair, needed rods and screws to replace them).

      With crappy military issued ammo, and crappy 3 moa guarantee FN m4 with 14.5 inch barrels you can hit 300m targets at least 70% of the time. Personally I have a DDM4v7 16inch barrel. Can rock 300 meter 10inch steel target 90% of the time. If I could go back again I would get a 13.7 or 14.5 ash
      First length. Try going through your apartment or house with a 16inch it’s not fun. As far as 12.5 vs 13.7 i would pinnand weld 13.7 to get the most velocity and still be able to store and travel with a regular stock on.

    I’m curious about ther Gen 4 17” “Rival”. Anyways sick video, awesome pistol. Thank you for the video! Noveske’s Switchblock is awesome for suppressed use. Sorry if I missed it, is this the Noveske CHF or the 416?

    Are you going to SBR this 12.5. I never really cared to get a sub 16in length until your top 5 guns video now I’m obsessed with my researching it.

      Besides 75 and 77gr ammo, I've only shot my 55gr training ammo that I load with mixed head stamps on my progressive press. Shot those about 1.5"

    You shot a 12.5 barreled AR out past 700 yards? And you hit the target you were aiming at? Did you have a cross wind? And what energy do you think that bullet had at that range?

    Just run a SA adjustable gas block, smooth it out without the added length of the A5… smooth as butter. Run one on my 10.5 LMT, SOFT shooter

    • @Bisley1
      @Bisley1 7 месяцев назад

      The A5 is only 0.5“ longer than a regular receiver extension, if memory serves me right. Maybe 0.75. So not that big a deal, especially if you aren’t running your stock fully collapsed anyway.
      I didn’t want to believe that adjustable gasblocks are unreliable but so far i have carbon locked: syrac, odin works and SLR gasblocks. On one SLR the sheet metal that holds the detent and the detent fell out and the gun stopped cycling, so yeah, I‘m reluctant now. The Superlative might be more reliable, have not tried one yet, but might. But from the looks of it, the next and last AGB I‘ll be trying is the Riflespeed, as the design seems very promising.
      I will be removing the SLR gasblocks from 2 of the 4 rifles that have them in there, and switching to A5, as I want those 2 rifles to be ultra reliable again.
      Disclaimer:
      All of my adjustable GBs were shot suppressed = extra carbon. And only the 2 steel SLR gasblocks had issues, the titanium ones did not. I presume that they don’t lock up the same way because there are 2 different metals contacting eachother or perhaps because Titanium isn’t as reactive.
      Also, in most cases if just the set screw seizes up, you basically end up with a regular gasblock - ideally in a good setting that isn’t as gassy. But the one that stopped cycling was a deal breaker for me.

    I think there is a fair argument to be made that if your AR runs Steel cased reliably its over gassed.
    There are a fair number of QC concerns, Case Pressure, Case Friction, and even commonly case necks catching on mags that can and do occur either commonly or with every shot fired. In a certain sense you can say that shooting steel even semi-reliably is fine (say needing to help cycle the rifle a few times a mag) but consistently firing steel... Its kind of the antithesis of mechanically how the rifle is designed to cycle. Its closer to simulating shooting the gun bone dry and dirty. And while its good for a gun to survive neglect at a certain point you have to imagine your really trading on some tangible performance else where in the operation of the rifle.
    556 AR's under 16, or arguably 14.5 need to be aggressively gassed for reliable cycling anyway, so you get steel to work as a bonus. But lets be honest, we wouldn't run most other calibers with this design. We don't run a 308 gun to cycle steel, and if you do the gun bucks worse than a 12 guage magnum slug from a pump.
    I shoot steel, and I have guns design to operate more like tanks than a swiss watch that churn through it. However I can say those trade some notable performance/metrics elsewhere.

    All noveske guns are 1 of 1. Least That’s how it feels. Out of all the unobtainium noveske is definitely the worst I can find Knights stuff easier than I can find Novekse. Tag firearms has a 13.7 in stock case y’all are interested
