Being a part of a final roll call was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Our friend. Not replying when his name was called. 8 years on now and we’ll never let MSG Robert Wheeler be forgotten.
Shit chokes you up. Hearing the family crying, heart breaking.

Bone chilling. Everytime, it just sends chills down my spine and I get choked up.
Every night since August 2019 at 2200 hours. Most quiet moments in my life I have experienced.
I have had to stand in formation for this too many times. I wish I could get adese for life. Platoon, Attention, Dismissed.

Brings me to tears every time I hear this.
I remember the first time I was at something like this. One of the Master Sgts at my unit took his own life. When the sgt major called his name i was caught off guard because at the time I didn’t know thats how it goes. When they played taps i saw the pain in the Sgt Major’s eyes as he stood in front us crying but keeping his bearing that sent chills throughout my body
Me too. My son was killed last year in an Army training accident and when they did this... at first I was thinking 'what are they doing' and then I almost went down.

It hurt so much
One of my best friends I knew in the army mind you been in for 2 in a half years. Worked with this man, knew my wife my family hung out and all. And one day I got the call he committed suicide and I lost it man. Didn’t know what to do and when I went to the memorial and they did that roll call and Taps, that’s had the be one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever heard and witness in my life. That moment right there broke me down for real bruh. Had to check myself In to behavioral health
I am so sorry for your loss, but I want to thank you for your service. God has your friend safe and you will see him again. Some of life's hardest lessons can be learned through our Military. I'm sorry bud. I got a similar call. Didn't know the guy that well but we had served together at different bases throughout my career. When roll call came, I lost it. He may not have been my best friend by we shared the bond of the uniform, and that made us brothers. May your buddy rest easy man

Thank God we have the fine men and women of the United States Marine corps, army, Navy, Air Force and Coast guard. Where does America find such brave men and women? I just pray that those that are placed in charge by the whim of the voting public realizes how priceless these lives are. As these Marines go to rest eternally in sacred ground they have my thanks. When I die, if I am fortunate enough, I will be able to shake all their hands and thank them personally for their sacrifice.
If you can’t un-live seeing your friend die then this never gets easier

I'm a USAF Vietnam Era vet. I thought that veterans and active duty members would render a hand salute during the playing of taps. This is the 1st time I recall seeing it played indoors. Does that make a difference?
You only salute when you are wearing a cover and cover is not allowed indoors. Since it's indoors only select people may wear a cover such as the Marine playing taps.
@@huntdownurmom or if you are under arms, then you are required to wear your cover in doors.
