- Introducing the HyperX Cloud Alpha S. Here’s everything you need to know to get started. Let’s go!
PC Setup
When you first plug the Cloud Alpha S into the USB audio control mixer and connect it to your PC, Cloud Alpha S will be set as the default playback and recording device.
In the event that your default devices have been changed you can follow these steps to ensure your setup is correct:
-Right-click the speaker icon in your system tray and select “Open Sound settings”
-In the sound settings window select “Sound Control Panel”
-Under the Playback tab, select “Speakers (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Game).” Then click on the arrow next to “Set Default” and click “Default Device”
-In the same Playback tab, select “Headset Earphone (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat).” Then, click on the arrow next to “Set Default” and click “Default Communications Device”
-Under the Recording tab, select “Microphone (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat).” Then click the “Set Default” button.
Using the Cloud Alpha S with Discord
Under the Discord settings, select Voice & Video
Under Voice Settings, select Input Device to “Microphone (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat)”
Select Output Device to “Headset Earphone (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat)”
Product Usage
Bass adjustments sliders have been added to the headset to allow you to adjust the level of bass. Move the sliders up for more bass or move them down to reduce bass.
On the USB Audio Control Mixer you can adjust headset volume, toggle 7.1 surround sound on or off, and adjust the mix between game and chat audio.
Use the headset volume buttons to set your desired master volume, then use the game/chat balance buttons to set your ideal mix between game audio and chat audio. The headset will beep once when you reach 50/50 game/chat balance. This means you’re hearing game audio and chat audio at the same level, the default state of the headset. It will beep twice when you have set the balance to be either 100% game audio, meaning you won’t hear the chat, or 100% chat audio, which means you won’t hear the game. (Note: Game/chat balance operates independently from the overall headset audio volume.)
The mic can be muted and unmuted by pressing the mic mute button on the side of the mixer. You can also hold down the button for 3 seconds to toggle mic monitoring on or off.
I was wondering how people thought this sounded amazing when I first got it today. I thought it was pretty average and because of that i knew something was up. I checked out this video and i was surprised how much the sound quality improved when I did these steps. I guess I just needed to put the Speakers on default. Tysm!
Is it better than regular alpha?
@@Levoltas i dont know if it is or not. You maybe can watch videos of people comparing the two if you can. Also it sounds so much better with out the sound card

how do you set up the alphas my microphone on the headset is not working

I just got this headset today. I knew i had to change settings because first i tried plugging them on my Samsung phone and i had AMAZING sounds. Then i plugged them on my PC and it was pretty bad. Thankfully i found this lovely video explaining everything so well. Thank you so much HyperX. I've always used your products and always loved them.

Hey there! If you are connecting using the USB sound card, right click on the Speaker icon on the bottom right of the desktop. Go to Open Sound Settings. In the new window under Related Settings (in white on the top right or bottom middle), go to Sound Control Panel. Under the Playback tab, make sure the Alpha S Game device is set as the Default Device and that the Alpha S Chat device is set as the Default Communication Device. Restart any affected apps if you need to reconfigure them.

May be 2 years old but short and sweet, had exactly what I was looking for, what the buttons do since I can’t make out what the top right one is with it being solid black with only a raised outline.
Am loving the headset, great sound. I was initially disappointed with not being able to tell direction from which sounds originated (in Elden Ring on PS4) but the firmware update fixed that and I’m pleasantly surprised by how well I can discern direction of sounds through headphones/headset. The memory foam cups make them really comfortable too.

This video saved me while trying to set it up. Main reason I did not understand anything at first and it sounded really bad in CS:GO is because you have to watch out for HyperX Game or HyperX Chat being selected.
For me sound in CSGO only works if I select HyperX Chat, HyperX Game doesn't work in CSGO. It works in every other game.
pls next gen alpha, make a software to customize the sound like steelseries does

Please make an extended detachable mic for the hyperx cloud alphas, i would totally buy a larger mic for it.
this thing looks gross in blue, bring a Cloud Alpha S in red and ill get it until then, sticking with Cloud II with 7.1 dolby

@@proroguebr1385 I can recommend it but liking a headset or any is really subjective. If you can try it out for free, try it first and see if it's to your liking. My choices were the logitech pro headset and this and I chose the HyperX after many review videos. Mic sounds amazing too.

Bought this headset and received it yesterday. The sound is the worst i ever experienced. I'm using a "Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless" and a friend suggested me the HyperX Cloud Alpha (S) because he said a wired one would be better and this is fantastic. So, the stereo sound (without 7.1) is just a blunt mess. Once i activate 7.1 i hear things that where not there before. BUT:
It takes out trebble, hights and everything! Everything sounds bland and heartless. Playing a game is the same thing. It seems like every sound and click has a much higher pitch after i activate it. Lastly the mic:
It was said, that the mic is one of the best in the class. Tried it of course... People said: "wth is wrong with your mic? i can't hear you correctly, sounds strange."
Then i pumped up the output to the max and they could me hear me better but said my previous mic was ten times better, clearer na louder.
Sending it back i guess.

I have plugged in my HyperX Cloud via MiniJack - there was no USB controller - and now it appears as a Realtek Audio Controller - the Microphone works terrible, way too quiet but when I turn the volume up the mic catches the sound from the the headset and noby can understand me anyway, canyone knows how to set it properly?

Ok thanks, HyperX you helped a lot I thought I had to reinstall drivers.
Just got them, but the sound is too low when connected to PC via USB DAC (HX one from the box).
I have checked all Windows 10 settings, but nothing. When connected to 3.5mm on motherboard, it's all fine.
EDIT: I have changed USB port (from 2.0 to 3.0) and it's much better now. However, volume @ 100% on USB is ~ 60% on 3.5mm jack.
I don't know why but even without the 7.1 button I have the feeling that surround sound is active xD
when i turned on the 7.1 button, it feels like stereo. idk why
For some reasons, after a few weeks of using it the audio just doesnt work anymore. It used to be only when i get on my pc then i could restart and it would work but now i tried so many things and i just cant use them anymore. Am i the only one?

My cloud alpha s has so weak sound in gaming, i mostly play pubg. Everything is set to max volume in windows and hyperx ngenuinity software. My 20$ headset sounded louder than this. Can u help me?

There is no option as Microphone (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat) to choose in Discord... And my friends saying that when i speak my microphone just cut some of my sayings...
Are you pairing your Cloud Alpha S to your PC via USB sound card? Be sure to check under your sound control panel > recording devices and make sure to select/enable the microphone. If you still need assistance, shoot us a DM on Facebook or Twitter. =]
My mic is ok without control mixer. But with mixer, in 1:08 my "Microphone - Realtek High Definition Audio" is "not plugged in" and my mic doesn't work. How can i fix that? Anyone having this problem?
Hey Favian, depending on what onboard audio chip your motherboard has, you might or might not have the Realtek High Definition Audio device listed. When you're using your Cloud Alpha S with the included USB sound card, that won't even matter much as the only thing you'll need to do to get your microphone working is to right-click the HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat device and set it as the Default Communication Device :) .

If u guys have same problem like me, i hope this tips its work.
If your microphone on soundcard level volume stuck 0% or cannot setting microphone in windows 11. Unplug the headset and connect to other device which is the device use windows 10. Then setup microphone on there. After setup, back to connect device windows 11 and it solve the problem.

Locate with your microphone device settings under the Sound Control Panel. Right-click and open up the properties. Select the Listen tab, check off the “Listen to this device” feature.

KOTEGORICALLY I do not advise buying them, even the same Cloud cores are better, which are 40% cheaper than this model (I liked how the 7.1 system was implemented in them), the sound card in Alpha s is very poorly implemented, and especially the 7.1 surround sound (Sound like putting on a bucket on the head, and spoils the hearing very much, I do not advise, it is easier to take simple alphas, they will be cheaper and more practical), I will add that the sound through sound in Alpha C is connected via usb, very quiet compared to if connected via 3.5mm (AUX), what on the computer and on the phone will play better and louder than through the native sound on the cord of the headphones themselves, which is connected via usb. that's all, thanks for your attention!
Use Boom 3D to tweak the headphones via equalizer and these headphones are perfect.

@@hyperx I know this is a really late reply only because I only noticed it now. But I see Realtek digital output optical and Realtek output high definition audio, and my TV speakers which are WXGA TV NVIDIA , lastly my speakers that are also realtek
@@cecekitty4452 -- I know this is even late, but did you plug in the USB adapter first for the Alpha S? For normal Analog headphones which don't have a USB adapter, you will not see the name of the Headphone, it will only display sound driver name like Realtek, Creative etc. and as Speakers only.

My cloud alpha S doesn't have any audio when using either xbox remote play nor ps4 remote play.( it works fine if i set it on speakers)
Edit: I figured out it s from the little remote i used my old cloud II remote and now it works just fine.

I have a problem, it is that my headphones have a very muffled sound. And in the game (e.g. Fortnite) the gunshots are deafeningly loud, unlike other sounds in the game. And another problem is that my microphone is very quiet, even though I set its volume to max in HyperX ngeunity. Please help me

I've had my Cloud Alpha S headphones for a while and they're pretty great. I'm now having an issue though where I change my volume up/down on the headphone volume controls only the game or chat volume goes up or down on their own. They aren't linked together like they used to be before where if I pressed the volume up/down the game and chat audio would match each other. I now have to set both audios manually to match because one goes lower/higher than the other while the other audio level doesn't move unless I switch over and change that too. Never ran into this issue before, and looked up fixes and couldn't find much about the topic.

@@hyperx I've installed the firmware you suggested. It said my version was newer than that version but I installed it anyways and the problem is still happening, even reset my computer to make sure. Chat volume still doesn't go up with game volume and have to set both manually still.
EDIT: Fixed! I've uninstalled all drivers related to the headphones and also the NGENUITY software. I think the software may have been bugging it up. Either way the issue is resolved and the volumes now match up together instead of independently.

Thanks for this fix! however, i think what was really bugging it out was the new firmware version, i just got my alpha s yesterday and the sound was amazing once i did everything on the video, but when i saw your comment, i realized that i had the exact same issue as you and i uninstalled ngenuity, nothing happened, then i installed the firmware version given by our hyperx friends and it got instantly fixed. I hope this helps anyone trying to figure out how to fix this issue.
Hey! So I have had the problem that my ShadowPlay software which I am using to record my gameplay does not record the Discord voices of my friends. I have only had this problem since I got the Cloud Alpha S (the problem wasn't present before when I used the Cloud Alpha 2). I didn't find any solution for this yet whether on the Nvidia side nor on the HyperX side.
Long story short, all I wanted to ask is if there is some sort of driver software which allows me to manage the audio output of my Headset? And if not, does anyone know how to fix this problem? I cannot really change anything in my ShadowPlay settings.

I came from Razer Nari, which is pretty bass intensive.
Now I feel like the bass delivery for this headset is... weak. I don't know if that's normal, but I feel the slider isn't doing anything at all.
"Chat" works for everything (games, chat, youtube etc) when set to default, but if I set "Game" as default device there is no sound at all

Please make sure, that you set the AMP sound card to 7.1 as in the Quick Start Guide.
The AMP requires configuration of the two devices (Game and Chat) to function correctly - the "Game" device needs to be set up as 7.1 speakers via the Playback - Configure menu.

I just got this headset, i did all of the configuration on the video but i dont get any audio out of "hyper x cloud alpha game" when is selected.

The Cloud Alpha S shows up in your Windows Sound Control Panel as two devices - Alpha S Game and Alpha S Chat. Please make sure to configure it as follows:
On the Playback tab: set Alpha S Chat as the Default Communication Device, and Alpha S Game as the Default Device
On the Recording tab: set Alpha S Chat as the Default Communication Device
After you set the devices, try adjusting the chat and game volume somewhere in the middle to see if audio comes through.
I just bought the Alpha S, and I've downloaded the firmware updater.
But it always says "HyperX Cloud Alpha S device not found. Please, connect the device and restart the program"
I've reconnected the Alpha S, restart the program, but it is still the same.
Please help me, I can't figure where my opponents are (only with those settings in this video).

guys really this headset is not loud at all...i use to have cloud 2 and i said lets upgradebut i am so disapointed.i will send it back.and this surround omd is so bad really in the cloud 2 it was much better..so dont spend your money in cloud alpha s and take cloud 2 its much better really and cheaper.the only think i loved in cloud aplha is the total black colour.its so nice!!!

Not sure if any of these would help but there is a few things you can try. The hyper x ngenuity app for PC, manually raising your mic volume on supported software like discord or if on console then in the settings

these have got to be one of the worst headphones I've ever gotten. Got the cloud 2 for around $60 on sale, great quality, the sound card eventually got worn down and wouldn't pick up my mic sometimes. The alpha s is overly complicated, sounds muddy, and nothing I can do changes it. On sale these were $100. It defaulted to having the chat be the default communications device and game being the default device. With or without the sound card it sounds terrible. It's really unfortunate because these feel very comfortable but besides that they're a complete downgrade despite being more expensive.
my headphones have been working great, but my MIC is not working, i tried to switch the headset to another PC, mic was still not working. What else is there to do? and the firmware is up to date.

When I bought these for my Xbox I thought I was able to use the 7.1 surround sound usb audio control mixer any way I can fix this?
Xbox One currently does not support USB Sound Cards. However, you can connect your Cloud Alpha S to your XBO controller 3.5mm jack and enable Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos under XBO Audio Settings. hyperx.gg/2wZpTun

You can open the Windows sound control panel, select "properties" for the playback device selected. Then go select the "Levels" tab, then "Balance" :)
@@hyperx I have Hyperx Cloud Alpha Vireless. There is no such an option for this product on Win11. That option is availiable even on 10 Euro headset. I have NGenuity installed and can't find that option for this headset aswell.

I recently purchased this headset but I am having trouble setting them up.
As I am using the usb dongle, my onboard Realtek sound card isn't picking them up at all, is this normal? If I plug them in directly to the back 3.5mm jack Realtek audio manager recognizes them and I can change the settings, but I want to be able to use the dongle.
Under speaker configuration should I choose Stereo or 7.1 Surround? Do I select Full Range speakers?
The main problem I'm having is the option to change the sampling rate is grayed out and stuck at 16 bit CD quality. Does using the usb dongle disable this? If so what sampling rate is the dongle set to?
Finally, adjusting the volume on the dongle is tied to the system sound, is there anyway to unlink this so I can leave Windows volume at 100% and adjust the headset volume separately?

Please make sure that the latest firmware is installed on the USB sound card. YOu can find it in the link below:

Please set the AMP sound card to 7.1 as in the Quick Start Guide.
The AMP requires configuration of the two devices (Game and Chat) to function correctly - the "Game" device needs to be set up as 7.1 speakers via the Playback - Configure menu.
