Ralph Fiennes is adorable. One of the greatest actors in cinema & on the stage, & there he sits in his stretched out cardigan wearing his emotions on his sleeve & being so humble & delighted by the company surrounding him.
Ralph is stunningly beautiful, he dresses so neatly and he has such a sweet personality. Love him forever
He seems like one of those guys where his ideas come all at once and has trouble sifting through them, Loved The Grand Hotel Budapest, plan on seeing it again in theaters.
This is a nice interview. Wes seems like a shy person, but he is very articulate and extremely knowledgeable. Ralph seems the same way. They don't seem particularly comfortable talking about their work, which is OK. That's not their job really; they made a beautiful film and that is what their job is.
Why is Ralph Fiennes so awesome?
I love Ralph and Tony together. They made each other shine in the film.
Also, I think this is a great interview. It gives a lot of insight to the film and feels like a discussion with a friend, in my opinion. I've heard Wes Anderson speak on film many times and I've never heard him stammer. I'm sure he is doing this out of nerves since it is in front of a live audience.
I think and I hope this film will go down in history as a real classic. It's beautiful, timeless, has perfect comedic timing and a unique twist on a story of loyalty and friendship between very unlikely characters.
I think it's one of my favorite films of all time.
agreed
I absolutely love how wes and tony and ralph do their best to really honor / consider the questions. They really get that people are people and that they're part of a larger process than their own creative efforts, even if Grand Budapest is fuckin brilliant, which it is.
I feel like Wes only stutters because he's consciously trying to find better words to substitute in, that's just who he is :)
I'm like that, but I'm not a successful filmmaker yet.
maybe he's just too passionate i guess
I didn't know that that was stuttering. I just thought that his mind works faster than his mouth.
It's because he has a hard time speaking and thinking
I understand however makes it very difficult to listen to him.
3:24 close your eyes and listen to this masterpiece.
hahahahahaha
I fuckin love Wes
Well I rememberehdoyiudoiu one moment I rememberdoouhuiduhhuh
e'en the most gifted bard's rhyme
Sign of a genius.
I kind of like it when people hesitate and stutter, it kind of shows the way their brain works and what's going through their head.Although, if you can look past the stuttering and hesitations he has quite an articulate manner of speaking!
32 minutes of this interview is just Wes stuttering his way through the questions trying to find better wordings. I love it.
i think wes anderson should act in his own movies from now on... and be the main character, I want to see this
flarm He'd be like "Run to the uumm ehh ammm to the catheueeegghdral of Santa Maria and ummmm eeehhh i un you know un.... buy one of the ummm... the... what do you call it? Umm the um... plain white candles."
Do you notice how certain characters in his movies wear some exact pieces of clothing that he does? :)
@@Bingcenzo Mr. Fox!
10:15 he is a person with golden heart, looking at his junior artist with so much genuine admiration!
If you could look in Wes's closet you would find
20 tweed jackets
20 grey pants
20 green sweaters
20 beige shirts
20 pairs casual shoes
20 pairs blue Hanes socks
THATS WES! so he doesnt waste time on clothes that he can dedicate to movie making and directing. GENIUS Director, actors and crew.
It's so impressive how W.A. (who writes seamless, smooth, fluid, dialogues) STUTTERS #Respect
at 1:09 I paused the video to read the comments, because this is the first interview i have watched of w.a
I didnt know he stuttered. Makes the man much more interesting in my eyes.
incredible movie!
Such an awesome movie. Somehow it's incredibly fast paced while at the same time being a slow build. The best part of the movie for me was the relationship between Gustave and Zero. So many great moments.
I haven't seen 'The Darjeeling Ltd' but when I watched it I knew immediately that that was Wes' movie. They are lovely hart warming movies.
wes anderson is so cool
Amazing film. Wes always puts together beautiful ensemble casts.
okay, from now on I'll only be reading transcripts of Wes' interviews ...
I love this movie. My favorite at the moment! its great. I watch it often... highly recommended he is a wonderful artist!!
Great to see him overcome his stutter to become such a revolutionary director utter genius grand Budapest was amazing
Le sceptre d'Ottokar. J'ai tout de suite fait le rapprochement avec ce film merveilleux.
Great film! Thanks for the interview.
Everybody should definitely watch Letter from an unknown woman. It's a great movie.
Thank you Anne for uploading such an interesting interview.
21:26 he’s so flustered at this comment
A most marvellous movie ...
My absolute favourite director and the best movie I've ever seen. Wes Anderson is THE master.
Love this guy!
@Tina Geiger
I think he is one of those people who is very nervous/shy in public.
its great that when you are a genius you no longer get picked on
I am obsessed with this man
which one? there are three you lunatic. who stole your eyes?
this movie should have been longer
As brilliant as Wes Anderson is...this was the first interview I've ever seen him in. It's a wonder he ever gets a coherent thought out to his actors with his stammer.
He didn't stammer before this movie curiosly.
My favorite film of all time with A clockwork orange
god i love that jacket ralph is wearing. looks cosy.
*# Wes and Feines genius :)))
The interviewer is lin manuel miranda in 15 years
The lady with the question about the lead female character is my hero.
Moonrise Kingdom?
Holy beard.
all nice dudes
Mr Gustave is a complete legend! IMHO Ralph deserves at least 10 Oscars for his performance in GBH. Sublime!
25:38 is a tune
my man wes was blowin LINES lmao
Even though the interviewer is so fucking cringe Wes and the cast were very interesting and put a lot of thought and care into their responses
Loved the movie but this is the weirdest interview I've ever seen. Ralph and Tony were just so fun loving and Wes and the interviewer just made it really odd for me anyways. But if anyone hasn't seen the movie.....see it!
Why is Ralf usually introduced as Ray or Raif? Why not Ralph?
because that’s how you say his name i believe
his name is pronounced RAIF. That's how ralph is actually meant to be pronounced but the world mispronounces it.
👍
wes anderson and tilda swinton are twins...she doesnt stutter
This is a wonderful and very informative discussion. The interviewer, however, is absolutely terrible - probably the worst I have ever seen. He rarely asks real questions, doesn't seem to put any effort or thought into his comments and totally depends on his panel to make the session interesting.
Hahaha
it was a panel discussion not an interview, not everyone has to be nardwuar
Yeah, I’d say he’s doing the job pretty well. His purpose is to facilitate further discussions and he does exactly that.
Ηe lets the guests speak.
if he wasnt, maybe we would never have his movies
Wow the girl at 28:40 was incredibly pretentious, self centered, and condescending. Her Q to Tony was so rude, basically saying “you’re so young do you even know about Wes and his work, let me ask you this Q so I can judge wether not you deserved to be apart of his film.” She’s the type of person who thinks less of others who don’t share her same taste in films/art. Marvelous film though.
Looks Like Voldemort Is Doing A Wired Autocomplete Interview.
lin manuel miranda looks different here
I have been producing content for my channel for some time, and just recently I managed to create a short film, which is one of my main passions. If someone is interested in seeing it along with other content I make, you can do so by checking out my channel. There are more short films to come.
I love wes anderson but I think his mind goes way too fast for his mouth
Why?
Three interviewees, in decreasing order of awkwardness.
in other interviews wes anderson isn't as hesitant
didnt know he was a stutterer
Captivating movie. Bravura comic performance by Ralph Fiennes. So, when is Wes going to enter a sex reassignment program?
And then they shot him.
For anyone who thinks that a filmmaker will ever truly describe the meaning, influences and actual intrinsic process of their film: YOU'RE LIVING IN CLOUDS. An artist rarely will tell you the 100% meaning of their work. Some do, but many don't. The author which "inspire" is a mere distraction and serves as a segue platform. Wes says it himself. Plagiarism, well, in his case. At least he's not lying. Here is the thing: everyone is so razzled dazzled by him that he hides in plain sight. Wes is clearly a luceferian and throws the sign around 12:03. WAKE UP PPL. Cookie cut films are so passe. Y A W N
And with that comment, you have shown that you completely misunderstand the magic in this movie, and so I have nothing further to say to you except this: "Movies are not simply a mode of entertainment, they are a window into another world. And sometimes the landscape has already been shaped, but the window will always provide a different perspective and sight upon viewing..." Do try to sum up the amount of IQ to understand the quote my friend, i know it is oh so challenging for you. Adieu.
Kristian Fischer Made you look! First of all: films are subjective as you so elegantly back up. We all know that. My point was this: For any spectator to believe an artist will be forthcoming as to true inspiration is hilarity. Second, it's my opinion, but because my comment got panties bunched up only proves there was a delicate matter to poke at. As far as intelligence quotients, FYI: There are countless artists with learning disabilities who create amazing art and get shown & y'all lap it up like scripture, and yet there are countless of high I.Q. individuals who are selling hot dogs. It's about nurturing & opportunity. The fact I stirred something up is indicative there was something to rouse anyway. The only challenging thing here is convincing Anderson to drop his evocative template and to explore true artistry & not a members only gimmick/ franchise. Arrivederci.
Yes, in many respects you are correct, but if you weren't searching for someone to become upset upon viewing your opinion, then why would you post it to RUclips where there are several people willing to defend the things they are fans of? I digress though, because you seem to miss the point of the film. The author of the book knowingly gave Wes Anderson the story understanding that he would change it. It's an artists interpretation, and the author let him do it. So you being upset enough to insult the film industry is funny considering the fact that the author let the source material become this movie!
I love the movie but I miss a balance in the film. What I mean is, there is a need to have more multi dimensional female characters in the film. This is why the film is good but not great...not enough female characters. Wes Anderson try a female protagonist next time.
that'd be great!
For a male director to make his protagonist a woman means he has to have dealt or willing to deal with his Anima.
No need at all for FEMALE characters, at least NOT IN the movie.....
Weird comment he wants to make the movie he likes why should he needs to have a female protagonist to make it work
Wes Anderson needs to join the toastmasters because he cannot speak.
Speaking is overrated.
Let his brain do the talking
i'm-i'm-'m... take pity on my ears!
Isn't it tyranny? When we force rather blackmail artists to do certain things? Let them do what they wanna do and what they feel like and showcase according to their own creative senses... I can feel that Wes was on the verge of getting cancelled by our fems :-D
Female protagonist??? I hate when people bring politics into arts..
shit wes is not a great story teller, he better focus on directing
