I was living in Salem Oregon 1981 and heard them. Thank you for showing me there was more to Life then working at a factory or going to church. I moved to London because of them as they changed my life. Thanks B-52's!!
I love seeing them closer to thier punk roots. Much more gritty then the polished image the public is familiar with. What a great band. Thier music will be around just as long as the other greats.
To kiddies seeing this by accident may look ancient. But lemme tell ya 1st time around punk rock was some exciting sh!t! RAMONES along with B52s was like Elvis R&R. New crazy underground sound was crazy to witness Live. Cheers to these bands that have the world a NEW Sound!
this entire show is Smithsonian material.., why this has not been packaged I can't imagine.., phenominal. Saw em several times, Show at the Sunrise in South Florida was one of the best circa 1983
Saw them last year in Chicago and young and old danced all night, what a perfect evening. Families, young couples and the gay community all dancing and having fun. The B's will always live on!!!
was a stoner listening to Zeppelin, Aerosmith, KISS, Foreigner, Genesis, Yes, etc. and heard Dance This Mess Around - Roland organ changed ... my .... life
Yes, it's incredible what they're doing here, a melody so full of bliss that even song for a future generation remains second best, roam probably third. INFINITE LOVE!
First time i'm gonna see The B-52's, tonight in Amsterdam, Paradiso, Aug 9, 2013: been listening to them 30+ years. Thaught myself playing guitar by listening/copying Ricky Wilson. (And now my kids love them too) Hail to Fred, Kate and, my all time favorite female singer for ever and ever, to the end of time and space, amen: Cindy. Correction: my all time favorite female or male or human singer. Cindy's voice should be sent into space as an example of the human species and what it is capable of.
I saw them at Harrahs casino here in San Diego over the summer. They have all aged well and still put on an AWESOME show. They didn't play this song or several others that didn't have a lot of radio play, but they still kicked MAJOR ASS!! Fan since 1980!!
Fantastic video of one of the best bands of all time. Saw them last summer at Harrahs casino Socal and they still rocked it BIG! TY for the awesome post
I was 7 years old when they were recording this. I was probably listening to the Bee Gees and Debbie Boone's You Light up My Life. That was a song about god. My older half sister gave me Wild Planet as soon as it came out, god love her.
omg, I would have LOVED to have seen them back in the day on campus before they got big. I was only 7 at the time, but man...that must have been so fun. This is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for posting.
poooorra, sonzinho do kaaaaaaaramba!! quem me dera tivesse uma maquina do tempo e pudesse voltar so pra entrar nestas apresentações ao vivo do B-52´s!!!! eu iria vaaaaaaaarias e vaaaaaaaaarias vezes, sem me cansar!!! new wave, punk rock som dançante pra caramba!!!
I was wonderin about the chronology of this and Run-Run in a '78 video. Thanks for explaining why..I just love Fred's accent in the introductory line. Sound's so homey, ha ha ha
Wow, this arrangement sounds incredibly close to the recorded version on "Wild Planet" that didn't come out until 1980. I wonder why this song wasn't put on their debut album, if this gig happened prior to its release. This is great.
They split the songs up in order to have a viable second album. Often, a band's first album is the result of many years, and a sophomore album that can compete within a few months simply isn't likely to happen.
That’s an interesting backstory! So, you were frying on acid, and just driving your Mach 1 all crazy & reckless around Athens one night? Which band members did your friends know?
ummmmmmmmmmmm i am REALLY drunk....but i wanted to say TY for the post....i grew up with the B-52's and saw them at the US festival....they rule..and always will...THIS is a fucking AWESOME post..don't deny....52 TY's and 0 No's.......FUCK YEA....lol...not kidding though...this fucking RULES>>>>>>TY

Yes, and it was the B52s that made me look back on Motown, Phil Spector and all the 60's trash pop.
wASN'T punk, IT WAS nEW wAVE. i know cos i was there! ;)

Killer dance number!

"Where you taken me devil?"....

Absolutely kick ass. I used to skate(board) my ass off to this music. Kate Cindy Fred. Thanks for sharing.
Oh man, the breakdown at the end gave me goosebumps.
Fantastic video of one of the best bands of all time. Saw them last summer at Harrahs casino Socal and they still rocked it BIG! TY for the awesome post
funniest band ever, totally miss those days when everyone thought i was so to weird for listening to them.
Blows my mind that these guys were doing this stuff in 19 frickin' 78.
Absolutely my all time fave B52s song!

So great. It really captures what the B-52's were/are and that is a great party band.
Cindy sounds great for only being about 20 or 21 at the time.
What a gem! Thanks for posting it.

Rickie drives the whole tune!
Haven’t seen this version before. More than great!
LOVED THE BEEZ as we used to call 'em. Saw them at the Fox 2x and free at Pride many years ago. Best dance band ever.
One of my all time favs!

brilliant vintage madness. cheers for uploading this.
Still fresh as the day they made it.
Bitches!
This is why they are the World's Greatest Party Band.
Priceless footage of the52s

Many thanks for sharing this vid.
Wow kmills74, you were so lucky to part of this. If I only had a time machine.
rock & roll hall of fame isnt good enough for these guys-
nobel peace prize all the way
Still diggin the four string Mosrite tone!
I love this song so much!!!!!
Incredible
Oh how fucking great is that.
Between Ricky Wilson's guitars, and Strickland's drumming, this was a rock band that could not be fucked with in the 70's/80's.
Love the 1st 45 sec before they tightened up
1 of my Fave B52's jams. Crank it up!!
great live vocals.
He's got his cloven huff on the floor Ha Ha I love this band
Great stuff.
@TheFacelessK -- Fabulous point. I would have never made the connection, because X is so punk and I think of these guys as so 'new wave'.
I realise the Cosmic Thing album got them wider (deserved) recognition but THIS is the 52 sound. Fkin mega!
Still listening 2020-2021

i inveted this in 1979 sharing my encounter with some friends of the band in athens i just had an acid trip and was driving my 69 mach 1
That’s an interesting backstory! So, you were frying on acid, and just driving your Mach 1 all crazy & reckless around Athens one night? Which band members did your friends know?
tenia yo 4 años de nacido y ellos ya haciendo musica .tengo 43 años ..
speak for yourself, we were diggin' them since the yellow album '79-'80 though we were vastly in the minority.
Potus needs this like 4 or 5 times straight!
It is a good first step.
Freeway to he-ell!
This song has that psychedelic chord that's in Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles.
@Rotateitbaby I agree. There first 2 albums to me where the best ones. Funny they made the second one first. Wish they had made a video for this song
he's got his cloven hook on the floorboards!
Sounds like the guitar came unglued at 4:48 check how Fred does a series of c=dancemoves so he can get a look without alerting the audience. Brillant.
Geil!!!! 😊
i inspired this song in 79
why doesn't GSU put the entire show on dvd? Talk about making some $ for the school!!!!
:)
I hoped that the B-52's would require no explanation, or maybe no explanation is possible. Either way, I thank God they happened.
Wife Beater iz to cool!
That’ll preach !!!
HE'S TAKING OVE AAA!!!!!!!!
🌖💖🌈⭐️
Woulda been so fun to dance there with everyone. Maybe a little weed and dexedrine
ummmmmmmmmmmm i am REALLY drunk....but i wanted to say TY for the post....i grew up with the B-52's and saw them at the US festival....they rule..and always will...THIS is a fucking AWESOME post..don't deny....52 TY's and 0 No's.......FUCK YEA....lol...not kidding though...this fucking RULES>>>>>>TY
totally, underrated band. People only know them from Love Shack. These are, the best band, to ever come into this world.
After Ricky Wilson's death, they never kept the same momentum, in my opinion.
And Kates top!
I don’t want to go to the DMV ! Government Employees are the Devil .. I Love the B52s. Non Conformity… it’s like Death Metal with a Happy Smile
The lyric is " He got his cloven hoof on the clutch " . Also it's " We're really tearin' tar " not " It's really his parents car ". ={
Very nice to see this show.
Don't you have unrecorded B-52's song from this concert ?
This band defines "hip"...
What would Ian think about that....lol.
THIS IS PUNK
@0:20
THE DEVIL MAKE ME DO IT ! ... OK OK I'm going to come out of the closet ... I've been in love with Kate for 40 years ... Will you marry me?
Ok !!?
@Kidrocksis He'd be at about retirement age now.
Shoot, not being in it is a badge of honor.
This is the opposite of Jesus Take The Wheel.😄
Oh, come on...they're not the best. VERY underrated nonetheless.
Why do they take so long in between songs.? Its really annoying.
