Cindy Wilson - vocals, percussion
Ricky Wilson - guitar
Kate Pierson - vocals, keyboards, bass
Keith Strickland - drums
Summary:
This is a terrific document of the group shortly after the 2nd album release. They play the 2nd album in it's entirety as well as most of the first album. It's b&w, but well lit, good audio and every second of it is here. The original lineup (they look so young!) bursting with creativity on their first tour as headliners. - Видеоклипы
How can anyone watch this and not fall madly in love with Cindy Wilson?
I’ve been in love with her since 1979. 😍🤩😍🥰😘
It happened to me
I’m in love!!
Omg I was about to comment on this before I saw your post. I'm so in love with Cindy ❤
Ricky Wilson, a guitar legend that no one ever heard about! ❤
This clip belongs in the Library of Congress as an American Treasure. This is how it’s done. Pure, raw, talent. Our lovely Cindy is such a doll.
If your feet aren’t moving when this is on someone needs to check for a pulse.
I still say this is genius. Nothing beats this.
Best live B-52's song on the internet. This whole show is fantastic but this version of this song is on fire.
I could watch a whole video of her singing and dancing. This is great ear and eye candy.
It really is.
This song belongs to the Wilson siblings. Cindy's voice is so sultry, and Ricky's guitar is everything!
👍👍👍👍👍
Holy shit. Cindy is absolutely aflame here. Love how Kate and Fred just kind of blend into the background for this one - this is Cindy's song.
I'm so pissed i didn't go to this show. I was only 1 at the time but, still, shoulda drove out there.
You would have just cried the whole time and ruined it for everyone else because that's what 1 year olds do :D
You really should have, geesh! Lol. This had always been my absolute favorite B-52 song and though I didn't see this show, I was lucky enough to catch the B-52s in 91 before things took a bit of a turn with them, but it was one of the best shows I've ever been too, and I've definitely been to a lot of shows! But don't get your diaper in a twist, lol they are still performing, though unfortunately just not the same B-52s anymore
@@shanesworld6363 bahaha
Now that’s funny!
I was negative three and I should have been there
My favorite B-52s Song & my favorite performance by Cindy. You can’t help but to fall madly in love with her & her conviction to this song. But MAD props to Kate for working her a** off on that bass Synth.
The studio version is as equally pristine!
One of my happiest fantasies would have been to live with Cindy in the Pee Wee Herman playhouse on a bluff overlooking the ocean. It would have been an existence entirely free of want or sadness.
You’re the second man to say this about Cindy within the first 5 comments, so I’ll say to you kinda what I said to him which is hell yes, and you don’t even have to be a man, or a gay woman either.
The musical track is almost as if Joy Division and B-52’s cross paths. Cindy Wilson destroys here. It’s amazing.
That just blew my mind,, makes me wonder what Cindy and Ian singing together on a track would've sounded like???? My guess is AWESOME!
I'm stealing this idea for future conversations. A JD/B52s collaboration would've been phenomenal.
No similarity to JD whatsoever. Drums: completely different style. Guitar: completely different style. No bass here (Kate plays a keyboard bass, which id totally different), while JD is Peter Hook's bass guitar up front. Vocals obviously galaxies apart. Vibrophone missing in JD. Very dissimilar dancing styles. Nothing could be more different.
I'll never give her man back... 😉
I hear a few similarities, and genre-wise; a larger sameness. Like adding the Lucy Show to the mix, would be befitting. NME.
I’ve watched this vid dozens of times and I still get goose bumps listening to Cindy pour her guts out.
spot on
This was her moment
Today ....42 years ago, Wild Planet was released
That scream says it all. So Rock ‘n’ roll
yeah, she brought tears to my eyes.. gut wreching
Always loved this band . So much Energy !!!
Two xylophone solos, a couple of beehives, a guitar missing two strings and a band without a bass. Music would never sound this good again.
+Tony Peterson There is bass; kate plays it on the synth however
Tony Peterson The Kate's keyboard is the bass, here.
Ricky played a 5-string here. Only 4 songs in this concert are in 4 string tunings: Dance This Mess Around, Rock Lobster, and Runnin' Around are in CFxxFF, where Private Idaho is in xEBxBB. However, Private Idaho differs from the album version, which is a 5 string in EBDxBB.
Edit, at the 18 thumbs up mark: clarified something I was incorrect on 6 years ago.
I think it's a Glockenspiel, the xylophone doesn't sit upright like that
@@chessmentor63 A glockenspiel has wooden staves. Can't remember what this is called.
I know this is Cindy at her finest. Her best. Pure raw talent. But come on, Fred did take down that xylophone
I think that was der Glockenspiel.

I could watch Cindy dance all day
Cindy vocals are incredible. So immediate and powerful. Her brother Ricky on guitar is also incredible. My favorite B-52 song. The back end at 2:40 is better than the album version which has overdubs. This version has more angst and power
Great punk
This is my favorite version.
gut wrenching power. and people think this is just a pop band. that was visceral.
MobiusBandwidth Hell yeah!
MobiusBandwidth she sings past the heart and it comes straight from the gut.
After I watched this I had assumed that they had been to at least one Sex Pistols show. That assumption proved correct.
They remind me deep America. Something like described by David Lynch.
Pop my arse. This is POST PUNK of the highest order!
I could watch Cindy dancing for hours. And hours. Forever.
Watching her dance is fun because SHE is having fun herself!
Yes!!! Keep watching her scream and dance- bam! Wish the camera never cut away.
I do.
100000%
ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH IT, literally the definition of "Dance like nobody is watching"
This live recording is just spectacular.
Powerful. The passion in Cindy's voice is astounding.
Her performance is a mesmerizing symphony of contrasting qualities. With profound depth, she exudes an enigmatic blend of insecurity and assertiveness. Her voice pierces the air like a demonic force, simultaneously revealing vulnerability and fragility. However, within her emerges an astonishing display of demonic prowess, showcasing a truly profound and multifaceted performance.
Well, she wants her man back. They shouldn't have taken him from her in the first place...
@@sodium9920shut up nerd
Cindy shaking it at 3:17 makes the universe stop expanding
Omg! Cant take my eyes off her. Cindy is clasic.
One million thumbs up!
Watched 5 different versions of Cindy performing this epic song youth to current and her whole emotional power & vibe has me weeping... Seems youth is escaping us...☆☆☆
Holy crap , you are so right 🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰
Actually, I think that's more of a shimmy, but... :P
Even if you don't like the B52's ..you have to realise , that this was an iconic moment ..where A BAND WAS 'BORN' ! In a world full of blandness.. this band was unique...uber cool.. and funky as hell. And they were .. just ..being ..themselves ..! Even cooler.. is you can see Cindy singing this tune 32 years later with all the same emotion and swagger...
This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
What is it about her dancing that I just cannot get enough of?!
Ricky was a genius talented musician who passed way too soon.
They definitely lost the rock edge when he died. Nothing tops the first two albums in my opinion.
@@wormius428 I have to admit, Wild Planet had some awesome rock songs.
@@wormius428 They lost it by the time Mesopotamia was released, sadly. I don't blame David Byrne for it whatsoever, but it also got rushed and it wasn't properly finished when it was released.
Just give Cindy back her man!!!!
She is actually asking the shark to give her back her man (“I’ll give you fish”) She loved him so much that she’s gone a bit crazy even throwing the Divinity candy to the seagulls in order to help her spot her man in the sea. She also wants to go to the bottom of the sea with him; the lyrics say to watch the motorboat she’s in and that “her man is at the bottom of the...” sea being taken away by the shark. Cindy Wilson explains that in her book.
Their best tune! Can’t get it out of my head lately! Keith killin on drums, Ricky’s guitar line , Kate hammering keys bass line, Fred’s glockenspiel line!!! And the absolute perfection of Cindy! Her voice, her eyes, yup I’m in love with her and could watch her dance forever ok, done
Her voice squeaked at 0:29 and it gave me goose bumps. She shines in this song.
thank you.
The grand finale in the last minute or so..... holy shit, the tension in every instrument and Cindy's voice, the energy and power and desperation and agony is palpable.... i love cindy's vocal performance, her screams and craziness at the end!!!!! i'm so envious of people that were there and experienced this in person, it's incredible !!!! legendary band
Im going to this show after time travel comes out
One of the best things I love about this song, is that while Fred can be a bit larger than life on stage, he's no prima donna here. He let's Cindy have her well-deserved place in the spotlight.
One of the best female vocal performances of all time
Lol what? She's a great singer and this is a great song but one of best vocal performances is a little much.
@@Jasonhoods wow well we should bow down and kowtow to you sir , get back to Celine .

Somebody give this woman back her man
That was very funny the lyrics to the song are a bit unusual
@@ronbaker2673 "Korvette's" was a department store, "Divinity" was a simple candy.
Okay, I'll come back: I've been a FOOL!! Of course, in reality, I would never leave a woman like Cindy Wilson! EVER! She has heart, she grooves, in short; she Rocks!
@@101Volts makes a lot of sense now. I just caught on to the lyrics:
"Ride that motorboat".
She said she was gonna drown if she didn't get her man back, while the thief and her man rode off in a motorboat and left her to "drown" in her sorrow.
This is one of the best things that has ever happened in the history of the universe. This moment, Cindy and the band doing that.
the magic of this song is that the lyrics are surreal and confusing but Cindy delivers them with such conviction you know exactly how she feels and what the song is about.
Lyrics are confusing???? You don’t know what fish & candy are??! 😢
Best live version EVER of this song!!!! Keith's super-punchy drums are awesome, and Cindy's screams! ❤️
yeah Cindy's vaginal screams are heartbreaking *.*
Don't forget Kate's insanely fast bass synth and Fred's rocking xylophone!
It wouldn't be the same without Ricky's insane guitar driving this song and Cindy's vocals.
Amazin
A little secret, Keith and Ricky were playing PUNK ROCK. Save all the rest, and "new wave",. They were doing it, and Ricky was playing blues like Keith Richards......
Best version of this song on the net. So much energy and creativity! Ah youth...
Yeah, I thought it was a better vocal than the studio version
The B-52’s made amazing records, but they were even better live. I saw them about a month before this, at the Agora Ballroom in Houston, and I still clearly remember just how tight, fun, and intense they were. Not a single person was standing still in the crowd.
Check out the version at the US festival in 83'. Ricky's playing is incredible.
Need to say -
I never thought I liked it so much to see someone dance.
This concert was one of those moments, like the 1st Roxy Music concert or an early Talking Heads show. If you were there you knew you were witnessing history being made.
ive always had a crush on cindy, but man watching her get down is almost more than my heart can handle.
+newwavepop Yeah, she was HOT back then.
+newwavepop Hottest thing walking back then for sure . Ive been in love with cindy for almost 40yrs now.. That voice, those big brown eyes and her gogo dancing !!! One of the sexiest women ever
I thought it was just me! :)
Who hadn't?
She’s the best dancer.
the b-52’s were.. RAW & UNTAMED
My favorite B52's track of all time. So much hidden meaning in the lyrics. Just perfect.
David Wan I agree 100%. This has been and always will be my favorite of theirs. I find it magical actually.
Is it God or is it her boyfriends supposed shark attack. Wow that sounds like a stupid question
I agree, like everyone believes she’s asking that to a woman but she’s asking it to the shark “I’ll give you fish” 🤣😂
@@pierremontparnasse I always thought maybe her man was a sailor who'd been seduced by a mermaid 🤷🏼♂️

Cindy absolutely kills this... her brothers riffs were backbone of their sound... they were wayyy ahead of their time
Holy shit!! This is fucking tight! Man, Ricky Wilson was amazing. He left us way too soon.
Cindy Wilson was in her early 20's here, and looks Amazing. So is her Powerful Voice.
How do llive
Cindy es mi morrita
Cindy, is an absolute national treasure!
Simply amazing! The little squeals from Cindy at the beginning and of course the scream at the end. The energy from her dancing made what it was...fantastic! In my opinion probably the best live/video of their whole catagolue. The whole band was in total sync. Checked out the other many songs but couldn't find anything that came close to this one. It was1980 all in their early 20's and full of energy. After a couple of years of year-round touring probably couldn't match that magical night. year after year their performances were awesome but this was special. Thank you B-52s! RIP Ricky
They were all in their early 30's except for Cindy which was indeed in her early 20's.
i agree, this is the best live version I have seen, the scream at end after her wailing was great.
Her dancing was good too.
later live versions, she dropped the wailing and sometimes a scream ,I liked the wailing.
In 1980, Kate was 32 and Fred was 29.
I was fortunate to see them in London during the winter of 1980. They were amazing live!
I can agree with that totally. 78-82 those 4 short years produced some amazing NW/PP live performances. 40 years later & the feeling can still be felt.
B-52's at the height of their power. Folks forget before the pop phase of the late 80's and into the early 90's,they were one hell of a new wave/punk outfit and put Athens Georgia on the map as a scene for great music. Man, Cindy Wilson out front......love it. I just watched/listened to this at least 10 times in a row!
scott pierce, once is not enough with this track. I'm mesmerized 😳😍
I'm watching it over and over
They had to move their style after Ricky's death.Strickland did a good job on guitars, however, he didn't have the same Ricky's skills.
They ve lost the surf/punk riffs.I like most albuns but B52s and Wild Planet are by far better in my opinion. Although COSMIC THING did better on sales.
Lotsa comments about Cindy's singing, which is always awesome of course.
But I'm here to give props to Ricky's unique guitar playing. Always such a cool style.
Cindy is a vixen in this one. I LOVE that dance.
I know! Absolutely awesome. Must have watched this 50 times this weekend. Thanks poster.
and here is the third one.
A Goddess. When this video signal reaches distant aliens, they will come for Cindy to be their Queen.

Ich weiß nicht, wie oft ich mir dieses Video schon angeschaut habe, aber es haut mich jedesmal um. Phantastisch !!!
I’ve watched this video so many times through the years. It never stops being the coolest live performance I’ve ever watched
Ladies and Gentlemen.....this is how VOCALS are done!!! My GOD!!
Cindy has always been my favorite. Love how she dances.
Oh my god..her little dance moves just make my heart a flutter...lol...
2:58 Cindy Wilson, you make me feel this through my entire body. God, you are the best.
Man, Cindy is a babe! Love seeing her dance in this video!!
Love love love!!!!!💜💕💜💕💜
SING YOUR HEART OUT CINDY!!!!
I thought the bass line was sequenced on the keyboard, but she actually plays it note by note, this is just heroic!
And her timing with the drummer is perfect! Neither one slows down or gets a break the entire song.
ha. old school actually playin them keys.
literally what i was thinking the whole time!
Midi & sequencing was not available till @ 1983 or so.
@@donbailey6600 Well, maybe I don't use the word "sequencing" properly. With it I mean getting a rhythmic sequence of notes by pressing a key a single time. It was pioneered by Kraftwerk and Moroder, widely used in disco music at the end of the 70s and in electro and synth pop in the very early 80s. When I was a kid my parents bought me a keyboard, in 1979 or 1980.. I could play the lower keys sequenced to a set of 10 rhythms at different speeds, though of course the rhythms were presets. I used to turn down the drums volume and play just the sequenced notes, it was really cool, I just felt like a junior Moroder! 😄 it sounded kinda like this and I thought Cindy was using something like this: ruclips.net/video/tf-GWIYcavw/видео.html
Man, the energy of this song was amazing!
1982, So. Cal, brought just bought 'Wild Planet' and other albums to a s l o to start party.. 15 minutes later 'party zone'.. of all the albums, true, this one was stolen that night. Interesting to note B52s were emerging in Georgia late 70's clubs.. of all places.
With all of the horrible musicians and songs out there that have come across my radar, the fact that I'm just now hearing this song makes me feel as though someone needs to be fired! 😂
Cindy is putting on an amazing display of singing and dancing
Ricky has some of the greatest moves while playing guitar
and everyone else in top form too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back in the day, Cindy just killed it. Period
Rock'n'Roll in its purest form.
The whole thing is amazing. Cindy's voice, beauty, and dances is driving me crazy.
just holy fuck, is this amazing
Her little gasps between lines make me melt. I grew up really close to Athens, these guys are so inspiring.
This tune FN never gets old. Cindy brings it like only Cindy can! SoCal was straight Fire when this hit the scene. The "new wave" genre was in full swing. Man, growing up in the Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach area with West LA & Hollywood 20 minutes up the road was magical in the 70's & 80's.
Right on brother. I was south OC. Made many trips up to west la and Hollywood. Saw them for the first time at Irvine Meadows when it first opened.
There is no better B-52's video than this ...
That is a work of art.
Ricky is f'ing rocking. IT. OUT.
Greatest live performance. Ever! How r they not in the hall of fame
Greatest concert I ever seen, not one person was in their seat !
MSU auditorium 1982 !! dancing on chairs, in the isles, everywhere..............!!!!!
and this is their best song ....!!!!!!!!!!!
+Lansing Michigan I saw them this same year, the club they played in had a strict 'no standing' policy (it was all tables and chairs around the stage) and they had college football players walking around to enforce it. For this show that lasted for about 5 seconds, by the middle of the first song the tables and chairs were piled up off to either side of the stage and everyone was rockin and frugin the rest of the night. The kicker was the venue had a spotlight booth at the rear top of the venue, when I looked up the two male spotlight operators and a girl were dancing around the booth in their underwear. Now that's a B-52's concert!
B-52s at Northrup Auditorium was also great!
That's the definition of the x-factor right there!! Cindy is fantastic, love her little dance thing she does :)
it blows my mind that bands can give performances like this, so very talented and also put in a lot of hard work.
I love her voice. Pure emotion
Cindy at her very best!
The best!! Cindy Wilson!
44 years old and TIL I’ve slept on this ferocious ass band for far too long! Holy hell!
You know the more I watch this, the more impressive it becomes, (Not counting the fact that I am in love with Then-Cindy). STELLAR. POWERFUL. RAW. REAL.
I’ve seen and heard countless renditions of this classic but OMG this is f***ing epic. Talk about singing your heart out..........this left me breathless. PLAY LOUD FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT
omg-that was 37 years ago-and still fabulous
This is the best rendition of this song, absolutely flawless!
Me loves this band - and these vocalists - but she goes majorly flat many times in this song, even when she’s bending notes. Listen on the second set of vocals after the first instrumental break. Given this is LIVE - and we all swim a bit.
One of the best live performances of all time. Such an underrated band. Everyone just thinks of Rock Lobster. So much more ...
Probably the most underated band in history, love this song and love the B52s ❤
They're quite niche but I wouldn't say underrated
I was at this show, as I was one of the few juniors in high school liking music outside of the popular bubble. Must have been the skateboarding😉
Wow Wee. I saw them live outdoors in 1979. I had just seen them on SNL doing Rock Lobster and did not know what to expect. Well, I didn't expect to be transported to another planet! I could not believe it. Still my favorite show to this very day. Must have been the skateboarding and the Acapolco Gold.
Easily one of the best songs I've ever heard
This is the best version, without the overdub background singing and all the synthesized effects. Plus Fred Schneider on the glockenspiel.
Oh man. Such a committed performance, everyone is backing up the vocals so HARD. Just spell binding.
The singer!She's so beautty,and that's the very performance in this song,i had see in my entire life;
For me,this is the truth B 52's,in your rock'n roll style!!
Great B 52's !!
That performance makes me cry. Something about how completely she inhabits it. There are bits of Ian Curtis and Joy Division live on RUclips that have the same effect me. The best time for music. (Or maybe that's just my age talking.)
yeah! this performance really have a joy divison soul. Awesome!
My favorite B-52 song ................... greetings of Peru 🇵🇪 ...
My God she gorgeous!
It's all about the moves.
Pioneers. I never took them seriously at the time. I had to grow for decades before I finally saw it.
Their early work is outstanding!!!
My uncle was friends with them before he passed away in 1989. Dancing in my living room to this thinking of him ❤😘
Ricky's guitar here is wow. Fred on the vertical xylophone is lol. Cindy is hot af
This was a hard rock punk band. Holly shit!
November 7, 1980. Wow. Of course I had to place where I was on that day...living in a dormitory on campus SFSU, my first semester. Feeling very nostalgic.
Loved this tune more than any other since discovering it on their record. So true, so real, so blue and desperate like the voice of a lover hurt without the fear of embarrassment.
Magic brought these people together.
