Thank you Kathy for your clear explanation and demonstration of mini-piping and appliqué using Bernina presser foot number 23. I like your enthusiasm and appreciate your generosity in sharing your knowledge and experience. Great video!
Hi Y'all from Carol Mintz! It's so sweet hearing your voice, Kathy. I'm thrilled to discover your wonderful tutorial. I have subscribed and look forward to watching each one of your tutorials. At Christmas my husband surprised me with a Bernina 790. We bought a 10 acre farm in Central Oregon... The next time I visit Knoxville I look forward to popping in to say hi.
Gina and I are so glad to hear from you. Time has really gone by. We would love to see you if you're in town so definitely drop in a pay us a visit. You will love your 790! Be sure to let me know if I can help with anything. Follow us on facebook too. Keep in touch.
Thank you for your video. I have inherited my mother's Bernina 730 Artista. This foot was in the accessory box but I had had no idea what it was for until now. Thanks again.
Perfect. I'm glad it was helpful to you. You have inherited an excellent machine. Your mother must have been a wonderful sewist if she owned a 730. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks Kathy for the informative video. I’m in the UK and can’t find anywhere that sells the cord you were using for making the narrow piping. Can you tell me how wide it is please? I’m guessing it’s around 1/8” or 1/4” but it’s hard to tell watching the video on a large screen, am I anywhere near? Keep up the good work, I ❤ your video’s, thank you.
Hi Kathy, I just found this tutorial and wanted to say thank you for your great tips and explanations. I just got my new Bernina machine and am starting to look into applique. Could I use this food even on small pieces (for example a small half inch circle) with a satin stitch?
The presser foot is designed to be used for any size off appliqué but is made to be used with a narrow zig zag stitch. If you plan to use a wider width of stitch you might want to consider one of the #20 presser feet that works best with your machine model and it’s features.
Of course it will. The machine will limit the maximum width that can be used based on your selected foot. If you need 9mm satin you can always use 20D that came with your machine. You can test and select 1315 stitch. If you choose foot 1C or 20D you can see that you can make it up to 9mm wide but if you choose foot 23, it will be limited to 5.5mm.

@@ginasberninasewingcenter2375 Thank u 4 the advice and 4 taking the time 2 answer my question.
Would this foot work for appliqué on my 570QE? Just wondering because of the 9mm?

Thank you for a great tutorial. What thickness thread are you using here?
The thread I used in the video was basically an all purpose polyester thread for the sake of it showing up in the video.
The name of the product you use??? Speed couching ?????
Is compatible with the B530!
Yes it is.
What kind of cording is that? Transcript says “speed crocheting” but that doesn’t make sense to me.
Is compatible with B530?
Yes it is and thank you for watching.
