What a creative, enjoyable and informative video. Never thought I'd be couching like EVER but here I am learning at home with your fabulous instructions
I just love all your samples on the fabric. My favorite is the couching foot. & your camera is perfect. Did not know u could do this on embroidery machine, that looks beautiful. Thank u for sharing😊
I just ordered these from your online store, Gayle. I have learned more from you in your videos than anyone about all my Bernina can do. Thank you so much for these wonderful tutorials. You're very thorough.
I have just found your site and I’m hooked! Your tutorials are so informative and easy to follow. Your explanations are detailed. Thank your for your time and sharing your knowledge. I’m learning more about using my Bernini 880 and I’m thrilled.
We need you to be more specific because we do not understand what you mean by fancy foot petals. Do you mean foot control? If so the BERNINA favorit is a model that is over 40 years old and the technology is not compatible with the heel up/down feature with that mechanical model.
Yes, the machine is threaded with embroidery thread in the top and bobbin thread in the bottom. But with this technique you may want the same thread in top and bottom if you are quilting with this method.
Gayle, thank you again for a great video. What size La Espiga is used with the #43 foot? I cannot seem to find the mm size for any of their threads; pearl cotton either. Would you be willing to share? Thanks a million!
@@BERNINAofNaperville Thank you for responding so quickly. I can't determine from the link if that is #9 or #18 La Espiga. Maybe when you go to the store tomorrow you will look and let me know, that is, unless you know from off the top of your head.....you know that your that smart😊
Great demo! When you use the embroidery module for couching do you thread the bobbin for embroidery or just leave as sewing (on the 880)? Thanks in advance!
Gayle you do a great job of promoting Bernina machines and your videos are very informative. I don't own a Bernina or have ever sewed on one and I still watch you. I was in the market to buy one but a lot of people say the expenses of fixing one is very high. I imagine that the 475QE or the B535 machines are pretty reliable. I am looking at both of these and finding that they come with very few feet. BOTH are well over $3,000 dollars. Can you give me some insight please>
First of all, thank you for watching. And I’m sorry your are getting information that the repair of BERNINAs are expensive. Most stores, like mine, offer a first year cleaning, repairs and adjustments free for the first 1-2 years. We bill very little for any BERNINAs younger than 10 years old. BERNINAs have a 20 year warranty on mechanical parts, 5 year on electronic. There is truth that some older (antique models like the 1530, 930, legacy machines) can be pricy to repair. This is because they are long passed their warranty and parts are hard to come by. But I ask you, how many appliances that are 40 years old do you expect to repair? I really like the 480 and 570, because I must have wide stitching capability but the B 535 has the better bernina foot control and has more opportunity to expand its capabilities.
My sister who is a quilter is going to love all of these abilities.
Love the couching ability. The red and white twine is great for many Christmas gifts

Thank you so much!
I’m moving back to Illinois in January. So happy to see you are there as i have the 590 and 880 updated to the plus
Thanks. I did couching a few years ago on a quilt that i have now turned into a jacket. One of my favorites. So much fun. Cant wait to make
Love your demo. Wonder if the 790 Pro can couch like this?
@@LC.101 yes it can and all other BERNINA Embroidery MACHINES.

Thank you for all these creative ideas.
I want to get the feet here I don’t have! These techniques are amazing! Thanks Gayle for all these kinds of lessons.❤️
Yep I did a long art coat with these feet....and they are my star feet. Thanx so Much! And I will be ordering some thread from you.
Will those fancy foot petals for embroidery fit an BERNINA favorite

When using the couching foot (at 15.50) Do you have the bobbin thread underneath in the machine? Thanks in advance for a reply.

I am embarrassed to say that I didn’t know that La Espiga came in different sizes. What we carry works www.berninaofnaperville.com/search?q=La+Espiga

1963DebraAnn I thread for regular sewing and then increase the upper tension a bit so that it looks as good o. The underside as on the top side.
@@BERNINAofNaperville thank you so much for getting back so promptly!
Great video thank you
Hi there - I wonder what size is the la espiga thread that you're using?
It’s the size 18
Those feet can use for 880? Thanks in advance
Blue Ros yes all new bernina machines take the same feet. The couching feet I demonstrated fit in the b 880 and b 880 plus.

So cool. I can’t wait to try this.
Do you carry the La Epiza in your store, and what is the diameter of the thread or cord?
Melissa Mellinger yes we do! www.berninaofnaperville.com/search?q=LaEspiga
It’s -1/8”
awesome!!

@@BERNINAofNaperville THANK YOU SO MUCH GAYLE I APPRECIATE YOUR INFORMATION AND I FEEL BETTER ABOUT BUYING A BERNINA.
Great demo!! Thanks!
Forgot to add on my embroidery module x
Yes you can 👍🏻
First selection of stitches you said we’re going to use stitch #22 but you only pushed the #2 selection ? Sorry just confused
Just pick the quilting designs. They are different numbers in different models.
So look for the design that I stitch out. Like the circle.
Loved the embroidery sample. What was the thread you used for the couching?
La Espiga www.berninaofnaperville.com/search?q=La+Espiga+
Don’t bring your sample too close to the camera. It can be seen clear when it is on the plate.
Do you sell the feet at your store?
Yes. We carry all BERNINA and bernette feet and accessories at the store.
@@BERNINAofNaperville Thank you for the quick reply!
