Yes to all of this! Yes! Yes! I had to fuss with Mel in my recap like she was a real person, that's how frustrated I was with her! I was rooting for her from episode 1, and she pissed off from then til the finale but I'm still rooting for her.
I HATE that Melissa used that woman's credit card and there was no inner voice begging her to stop it!!! And I HATE that it didn't stop me from liking her, even though I knew it would come back to knock her on @$$. (Corny pun intended.😅)

What I enjoyed so much about this show is that the lead character is not only plus size, but she's a black woman and her character is layered. Too often we see the same old tropes of the jolly fat friend or the plus size friend who's forever on a diet. I can't stand that shit lol. I love that her character's messy. I love that even by 35 she doesn't have it all together. And although somethings were eccentric, I think overall this character is more of an adequate representation of a lot of women today (regardless of size) versus what we usually see portrayed in film and television where they have it altogether and their conquering the world by 35. I also love that she's portrayed as desirable and that she was being pursued by two HANDSOME men. Not the usual sad sack character that's grateful for whatever crumbs some no nothing fool throws her way lol. I love how creatively this show was put together and how it made the audience feel like we were on this journey with her. I really hope it gets a second season, because I hate seeing quality black writing go under the radar and I honestly think if the lead was thin this show would've been a hit. Also, it wasn't the man from the diner that reported her. If he was gonna report her, I doubt if he would've so been empathetic towards her situation and offered her advice. Once the state is notified that a person's deceased, if their accounts are still being used then its obvious fraud is taking place. Everything leaves a paper trail nowadays. She was in trouble the moment she used that card for anything other than a cash advance lol. Anyway sorry for the rant lol. Great points. I loved that they gave Mel desirable men. that were really into her. I like that she wasn't overly sexual. They tend to write thick, women that way, especially black women. I enjoyed her real relationships with her friends. And the friendships between the men. I hope this show comes back.

Mel, however, was starting to get on my nerves by the last episode. I try not to talk to my TV, I'm not trying to speed up my Clint Eastwood transformation, but I was actually yelling at her to Spit It Out already! I think I was even shaking my fist. When she told that man she stole her identity, I rolled my eyes so hard I'm pretty sure I slipped into an alternate dimension. There was no reason to admit a crime to a total stranger who knew the victim. I didn't feel a lick of sympathy, it was just too stupid. So much for the high flyers program, AND the 17 grand. Also this comedy isn’t for everybody only certain people can take this dry obvious comedy. I love this show! I wouldn’t believe the character if there was no mess. Just finished the series, loved it. Terrence would've had me, especially after the flight simulator 😍. Mel was endearing, but she did get on my nerves. I felt like Alex was kinda leading her on a bit, with all the talk about their relationship. And the new years eve date. I had forgotten all about Mel using the dead lady's credit card. 😒🙄

If you see something, say something is the elder generation’s credo. She saved that dog, which I thought would help her confidence….that along with the bald dude who treated her to that flight simulation, which was the sweetest thing EVA! Even if he is dating her work friend. Now, a logical and reasonable person would have asked Mr. Bald and attentive to go on a trip elsewhere to hang out instead of stalking her ex, but not Mel. Hopefully she won’t have to use her $17k for legal fees caz it’s I dunno if her brother will bail her out. I would have liked a few more episodes of this series. My fingers are crossed for its renewal.

Then he is all around Brooklyn acting like he is on the best date in the world. When he kisses her, he acts like it was coming from out of nowhere. Then he tries to get her a near impossible feat "to tell him that she loves him" even though he proves her right- that telling him is too risky. Cause he rejected her,- the thing she was afraid of. Shouldn't he be asking himself why he even asked her that and why would he be marrying someone but wanting another,? He was also angry because he didn't want to embarrass his family and the fiance's family. Which means he is a walking red flag. She is blessed he rejected her. Why should she be with him anyway. He has had an emotional affair with her. Then gaslighted about it. He cannot be trusted. Whew. Got that off my chest
