I live in a super hot country (temps reach about 130°F or 52°C) and using my phone (xs max) outdoors during daytime makes it heat up like crazy. It starts lagging and even gets a little too hot to hold. I've mostly lost battery health only because of heat. Wish they had some kind of cooling mechanism, especially when they're charging so much for these phones.

I used to use mine to fly a DJI drone. During the day, the screen would get so dark I couldn’t see. At night when the air was cooler, never an issue. I assumed the darkening of the screen was a heat issue

1.turn off background app refresh 2.check for rogue apps 3.reduce brightness 4.going in and out of network, put in airplane mode. (Not good when phone is needed constantly.)
Also take off ur case, disable notifications on some apps, put your phone in low battery mode, close tabs on safari or chrome, close pages on phone, and turn on airplane mode if possible

Yesterday I learned why my phone has been getting very hot and charging for much longer: my Airdrop was on and probably someone in my neighborhood or a malware had been accessing the device, so I switched that off. Afterwards I switched off bluetooth and my phone cooled down very fast. It’s been a day I have bluetooth switched off and it has helped. If you do not need bluetooth, just switch it off, example if you’re going to bed just switch it off.
I have an iPhone 6s, the problem is that it doesn't even need to be "hot", just warm (when I'm using Spotify for example listening to a podcast) after a while the screen just completely crashes, it's not completely black but a very heavy white dim which makes it almost impossible to see anything, I can see the apps on the home screen if I really focus but the screen is like 95% blank. And it doesn't give me any warnings at all, so I think the phone is simply getting old but I'm not sure. The only way to fix it is to go inside somewhere and let it cool down, I have the latest iOS update and my apps are updated, so I don't understand what could be causing it.

Cellular data uses more power than Wi-Fi. If you must play over cellular, make sure to actually turn OFF the wifi while you do, but wifi is always preferable.
My iPhone 11 got really hot when using the gps for ten minutes. I always close out apps and maybe keep two open. We are experiencing a heat wave. But my cars ac was on. So i don't know what the issue is.

Only happens when I'm on a call. Phone is charged from 75-87% no apps or tabs open. Phone just started doing this after latest update in Oct. 2020.

Yes it's normal once it reach it to 80 percent it gets hot it's normal stop being worrie.....
You would think these "smart" phones would be "smart" enough to give a warning that your phone is overheating. The phone should also tell us "why" it is overheating but that will never happen. They want your phone to fail after time so you will buy another one. It would be like buying my boomerang and having it totally stop returning for no apparent reason just so you will go buy another one from me lol. Never going to happen by the way lol.

@@MakeUseOf Let me guess,,,, by heating up lol. Seriously though. Does it have a setting that needs to be turned on to tell me it is overheating??? I may have stopped mine from overheating. It's been over a week and so far so good. I made my own video and posted it yesterday. Happy to get your reply and thoughts on it.

My iPhone 11 got really hot when using the gps for ten minutes. I always close out apps and maybe keep two open. We are experiencing a heat wave. But my cars ac was on. So i don't know what the issue is.

My phone will heat up alot around the bottom middle right area, iphone 10, and i have marks of stuff that will burn into my screen after only like 30 mins - 1.5 hours or so on certain apps that dont take much to run
