  • Building heavy duty attic style trusses for the garage / shop project. Diy homemade attic truss rafter build for a barndominium, pole barn, garage, shop, shed or any outbuilding really. Sometimes it's best to build it yourself. I used plywood gussets, PL glue, and ring shank twist nails. It was a lot of work and a big undertaking for me but when I was quoted around 12k for trusses I did the math and saved about 5k total by doing it myself.
Here is part 1 of the truss build • Building diy Attic Tru...

I have no doubt those are far stronger than what you would have bought from a manufacturer, but that's a hell of a lot of work LOL. Nice work.

Thank you I appreciate it! Yes, they are super solid. Really happy how they came out. It was a lot of work, but I didn’t figure my time since it was my own project. Sweat equity instead of more money out of my pocket. 😁👍

@@frankvisco7944 Wow sorry to hear about your loss. I’m glad if you found this helpful. Yes I didn’t really cover dimensions in this video I didn’t make particular instance it was almost 8 foot ceilings in the center part of the attic with this design. Thank you I appreciate it!

All that nailing sounds like you’re making pallets.

I remember nailing a plate on a beam onetime. Your dad said out loud, “sounds like somebody’s making pallets’. Never forgot that.

Also, you may not know but I made a ton of these trusses for the hay barn that Doug G. Needed for the buffalo. We had a four man crew which went pretty well.

Did you use 10d nails for the hangers since it's a double?
