      David Connor - What these people don't get (which doesn't surprise me) is that this was the first win for a franchise that had been defunct for the previous 3 years. I will never forget this game either. I was watching it out at a bar with my brother. We had waited 3 years to see this win. Of course it was memorable.

    I was listening to this on the radio, the saints radio broadcaster Jim Henderson said something like, “couch throws it downfield to the endzone..........this is unbelievable!!!” There was literally a 3 second pause in between.

      Some Blue Dude : He was actually a really decent QB, he had no receivers, no OL and no RB. Defense was average at best too. He did take the Browns to the playoffs in 2002, their last playoff appearance.

    I'll never forget this moment as long as I live. Watched it in slow motion back in the day. It was like having your heart slowly ripped out and stomped all over.
    The Saints in 1999 lost a bunch of games in the final 2 minutes. This is just the icing on the cake. The 49ers game is probably worse, where they would've got OT but Billy Joe Hobert threw a pick six to end it (after having what was possibly the best game of his career. Tops it off with a game sealing pick). There's also the Bears game where they gave up 14 points in the final 2 minutes. Someone could do a documentary on the 1999 Saints and all the close games they choked. Could probably also add games from 1997 and 1998 too.

      I remember that year, it started off really good, opening kickoff at home the Panthers fumbled and we ran it back for a td. It was the highlight of that season.

      It looks like 22 actually tipped it up into the air out of the hands of 29, so the interception part was fine, it was tipping it up that was bad. Also, batting it down can still give you situations like Jaguars texans.

Our Browns may have had some awful times, but these lightning strikes are the ties that bind us forever to our team. I’m 59 years old, born in Cleveland, raised in Parma, watched on tv, listened on the radio, attended many games. GO BROWNS FOREVER.

    I was at that game! Same endzone, but opposite side. When I saw Johnson had the ball with two feet in the endzone, I went nuts!
    The wife and I decided to head to the river instead of the French Quarter. We spent too much time there Saturday night and missed our breakfast reservation at Brennan's.
    No matter, we had alligator while watching the ships.
    Great memories!!! "Who Dat?!"

      Tim Couch and Jake Plummer are two "what if" quarterbacks. I feel like they could have both been great on other teams. Jake Plummer finally did play for a good Denver team but that was too late in his career.

    Sounds like Don Criqui doing the PBP there. One of my favorites from the past. As for this game, it pretty much sums up Ditka's time with the Saints. They were all hoping for greatness but it gets snatched away!

    As a side note, it is worth noting that the NFL has since changed the rules so that, in such situations of a game winning touchdown with no time left on the clock, they will forgo the extra point try. It did not happen until the 2018 season, however. I think that's a good rule change, and it should have come sooner.

      It's just a rule in the game, if the touchdown caused a game to end in a tie, they wouldn't just negate the extra point because there was no time
      The team can also choose to knee the ball, ie Saints-Vikings three years ago

    Remember it like yesterday. I was attending the University of Toledo and at the time, worked at the campus radio station.     Looking back, Couch was a great Qb, the only problem was that the offensive line was terrible and he constantly got injured. Had they gotten a better line they could’ve won way more games.
