The other games were good but this one had the best atmosphere and feel to it. Legit a great horror game for kids. The portrait ghosts were some of the coolest baddies in mario history.
Dark Moon was cool for being on a handheld, the game itself was alright. 3 I thought wouldn't match the vibe of the original but it would be a step in the right direction. My biggest complaint with 3 however is the slam mechanic, it makes the game way too easy.
So I had to return this game after me and my mom got it from the retro store we always went too. I remember picking between this and four swords adventure, good times. Game scared my socks off lol, pretty sure my mom made fun of me a little for it 😂
Should be noted, with the games short run time, it imo helps make it SUPER replayable. You get better each playthrough and eventually memorize the layout of the mansion and where to head after each room(as well as finding missed secrets from before). This was my first video game ever and it’ll always have a special place in my heart for that reason. Also, really good for speed running as well with the short runtime.
Such a legendary game from my childhood. Games freaked me out when I was a kid in the early 2000s. Holds up very well. Still have my original copy from my childhood along with my GameCube, memory cards, and controllers.
Same my guy. But this game made me have the hardest nightmares as a kid for months, but I still played it. Only Squidward Suicide gave me a harder time.
Bro I love that u really capture the feeling of a loving gamer starting a new game back in the day. With the "unboxing" and review of everything this game has to offer PLUS a bit of the games history at the begunning. Would have loved it when u talked about the whole games history tho, because its really interesting. This game was never going to be a game. Nintendo wanted to showcase the power for the Gamecube with more realistic asthetics than typical for mario, so they showed luigi in a semi realistic mansion running away from ghosts. Fans would love it so much that they thought this would be a real thing and hyped this game up like crazy. Until the point where Nintendo decided to actually make it a full blown game.
You hit the last 2 videos out of the park. I loved the third age and I had a launch edition GameCube with Luigi's mansion while everyone else had a PS2 and mgs2. This shit rocks my guy.
Luigi’s mansion is one of my favorite Nintendo Games of all time. I remember playing this on day 1 back in 2001. The GameCube was the worst selling Nintendo console but yet it’s the most loved. Ironic.
I liked the atmosphere and the portrait ghosts. They had enough personality for them to feel like they actually were living things. In the mushroom kingdom you don't really see many humans or human like stuff you know? Sure its dark for a kids game when you think about it, but I appreciate the creativity that went into it.
Luigi's Mansion is one of my favorite games of all time. Like others have said, the sequels added and expanded on some ideas and gameplay components, they never really got the atmosphere as good as the first game. It's a classic imo. 👌🏽
They're bringing GameCube games over to their paid emulation service so if Luigis mansion isn't including in that list of games they're legit stupid. Best game on the GameCube besides Melee and Double Dash.
I have it and Dark Moon on 3DS. Still haven't played them. I plan on playing it together with my daughter this weekend. What a coincidence your video popped up. 🙂
This game is hands down one of best games got back when I was younger before I could comprehend that gamecube wasn't the most fondly looked at system at the time but as we know now the system was top of its class and still holds up today
first game I played on Christmas morning the year GC came out. Lots of memories completing this one with the strategy guide. I think I still have the game and the strategy guide at my parents house if Mom didn't get rid of it.
The short run time makes it the perfect kind of arcade experience, always a fun game to just sit down and kill time doing a run and trying to collect as much money as fast as possible
hey i found your channel about a week ago and i just wanted to give you my thanks. i started playing FFVI and im about 14 hours in. never would have picked up this game without your recommendation and i gotta say its one of my favorite rpgs ive ever played so far. so thank you i love the channel and im looking forward to more recomendations.
I still remember being at the R-Zone at Toys R Us back around the Gamecube launch seeing Luigi's Mansion for the first time at the demo kiosk. I was originally taken aback thinking Nintendo made a survival horror game and threw Luigi into it and originally passed on it. Bought it later on and ended up realizing my mistake. What a gorgeous and fantastic game!
It’s short but the PAL Hidden Mansion is where you really get your bang for your buck. The difficulty spike making it a lot longer to get the A-rank. I really liked this review 😬
Completely missed this one in the GameCube era, but recently picked it up for 3DS. It's awesome! Almost the same fun/spooky charm as the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. And it's neat to see Luigi as something other than Player 2. Looking forward to the others.
When Luigi's Mansion was a demo back in the day and I was a little boy. When Luigi finally is ready for you to play I just stood at the screen not knowing what to do because I thought it was still the cinematic. Then my mind was blown away because I could actually move Luigi and he was in this incredible graphical creation 😮 unfortunately even though the game and the two games after it aren't that long I have yet to commit to them fully and I'm hoping that one day I actually do
I have held on to this game for 20 years. Even when we did not have a GameCube I refused to take it to GameStop, along with Wind Waker. We had a Wii so I could play them on it. I have a GameCube that is all mine now. And this game is one of the gems in my collection. It is such a fun game. It is short. But that is alright. It is perfect for this season. I might just play it here soon myself. I haven't played it in a few years.
Such an awesome game! Everybody was wondering, me included, why no Mario to kick off GameCube, but the game surprised me big time back then! Could you imagine this with Coop Mode?
I bought a gamecube for Metroid Prime but the 2nd game I bought was Luigis mansion and I absolutely adore this game. (Also secretly hoping you play and review metroid prime)
I still to this day have never played this game. I've been considering doing a let's play of it for my channel. I've always heard it was good but back in the day I hated the fact that you didn't play as Mario lol
The game is so short which makes it very replayable and makes you aim for the best ranking. For instance the portrait ghosts frames represent how well you do (gold, silver, bronze). To get a gold frame and more money you have to get the ghosts in one go which is tricky. I feel Luigi's Mansion 3 although a good game had more filler in it to make it longer which took away from the over all game and makes me not want to replay it as much. I love how many unique ghosts designs are in the original and how you eventually learn to navigate the mansion. The original game for me is just or more fun on a second playthrough.
Dude, I played the same Nintendo games as you growing up and I'd love to see a total list/breakdown of your top GCN/GBA Nintendo games and earlier, or even pre 2010 Nintendo games you were into. I'm curious if I missed any since your taste is so on the money for mine
Loved this game as a kid. They really went out of their way within this game, a lot of replay value. Though it slacks on quite a few points. There should have been some double-up with another character in the game, making more story's. Definitely a missed chance there. Wario would have been a great one for this. With the game itself no problems, but it should have been longer.
I remember going to blockbuster as a kid and renting this game and then finding out the disc wouldn't run on my GC. Never tried to play it since unfortunately
I passed on this game during the GameCube's lifespan. Not sure why. Maybe my 18/19 year self wanted a Mario platformer and not Resident Luigi so much that I just couldn't care at the time. It wasn't a dislike to the cartoonish stuff at all. Pikmin was my number 2 game on my wanted list after Smash. I'm glad I did finally play it though. Really good game.
I never got to play this game. I got it from a second hand game store, but when I brought it home it wouldn’t go past the first cutscene, and I had lost the receipt (you don’t think about these things as a kid) so I lost out. I have played 2 and 3 though and they are great
I own both the 3DS Remake & the original, tbh I was never that big of a Luigi's Mansion fan but I do see the appeal of them. For the next game please do P.T. Silent Hills, there is a way for you to play it on PC via an emulated version of it
So this is one of my favorite Nintendo games. An although the smash and such are nice for 3, I kind of don’t like the smash because it gives you an advantage over the ghosts when fighting in groups. While in this game, it creates more tension and struggle. An I kind of think that adds to the spooky vibe since you have to watch out. Not to mention scary back then was all the jump scares and boss ghost’s transformations. But still, if Nintendo remastered this without changing it in any way aside from improving graphics and scene transitions, I would buy it day 1. As well although I’m a Nintendo fan, we don’t talk about dark moon 😂
The best Luigi's Mansion game in the series - by a long shot.

Honestly, when the lightning strikes the mansion and the power goes out, I STILL hate it lol
@@angusyoung119 bro incredibly spooky the vibes are just scary
@@filletmignon5221 You think you would grow out of video game spooky though at some point 😅

One of the most well made consise games ever made. Love this game. Such a gem to go back to
I played this game religiously over and over when I first got it back in 2001. It was my first introduction to the horror genre!
Literally playing Luigis Mansion 3 right now. It's excellent. Hope they port the other two to switch one day.
Same!
They're bringing GameCube games over to their paid emulation service so if Luigis mansion isn't including in that list of games they're legit stupid. Best game on the GameCube besides Melee and Double Dash.
The problem with LM2 and 3. Was the control was lost with using a 2nd analog stick to fight with the ghosts with.
“The GameCube was the most powerful console of this generation”
Xbox would like to chat.
Jokes aside, love your channel. Excellent video!
I'll never not think that this game has a genuinely creepy and trippy and surreal feeling to it. Love it
As someone who never played Luigi’s Mansion due to me being in preschool when it came out, I wanna give it a try.
I'm going through my first playthrough right now, I wasn't even alive when the game came out, I'm enjoying it so far
I have it and Dark Moon on 3DS. Still haven't played them. I plan on playing it together with my daughter this weekend. What a coincidence your video popped up. 🙂
So excited you played this. This game was my childhood and favorite Nintendo game.
Video games are not made the same like they used to be, this game is one of my all time favorites.

Imo, this game has the best combat due to its risk over reward like gameplay. It may be simple, but some of the ghost you really have to reel them in.

This was the ONLY game in the series to actually feel creepy.
I'm playing right now for Halloween. This is my favorite GameCube game hands down.

This game scared the hell out of me as a kid. Could only play with my dad in the room.
This one was remastered for 3DS. An awesome game.
Luigis mansion and rogue leader was basically my first year with the gc.
And both are still good games today(surprisingly even the graphics).
I remember this game legitimately scaring me as a young child. For some reason tracking the Boos especially got to me.

$60 wow, I remember when this game could be found for $12 at GameStop ten years ago.
I want GameCube switch online so badly
Just played it for the first time couple months ago. Such a great game!
Luigis Mansion series is great and highly, highly under rated.

i try to play this game in october every year to celebrate halloween just like playing mario sunshine in the summer
Hoping we get to see Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Never played the game just remember it being one of the first games Rare made for the Xbox

They kind of did remastered Luigi Mansion. Wasn't a console remaster but was released on the 3ds which did restore cut content.
Great game, finished it couple of times over the years 👍
Dark moon used the OG DS for communication.
The only mainline mario game on GameCube was super Mario sunshine but I always count Luigi’s mansion as the main mario game of that Gen
