I live with epilepsy every day due to the beatings my grandmother dished out. She was BRUTAL. I understand being afraid of telling people. I could have told my Dad, as it was his mother who was bashing me, always on the head, as bruises are not noticeable under hair. I was afraid he wouldn’t believe me. I was 15 years old when my grandmother went to bash me, and I caught her hand. I squeezed her hand as hard as I could. I looked at her, squeezing her hand, and I’m nearly 6’ tall, so for a female, I’m fairly strong. I saw her face and all the realisation that I could really hurt her. I let her hand go….. I got my clothes, and I left. I was 15. There are other options. My grandmother died a natural death years later, and I attended her funeral. I don’t hate her. I just don’t feel anything for her.

In the end she put on the act and loved the attention. She conned an autistic kid with actual mental illness into loving her and murdering her mother, while having sex in the house afterwards. She's a 2nd degree murderer no matter how you slice it. Not a hero. If she was a guy she would still rot in prison. Her bf who she talked to online is for life for murder. Gypsy should still be in prison. I don't care how psycho her mother was. Alot of kids tell on abuse. She loved the attention. And now she's married, a star, and the dude in prison for her mother's murder still says he loves her. He's on the spectrum. She is normal.

Well her mom would switch Doctor's constantly, when one Doctor would figure out what was happening she'd move Gypsy to another one. A lot of Doctor's reported Gypsy's mom once they figured out what was happening. If I remember correctly a few testified and one clearly knew something was wrong right away when he noticed muscle development in Gypsy's legs.

      @miriamc1718 3 месяца назад

Please stop blaming the Drs. If you actually do some research Gypsy’s father has explained what Deedee did to fool the doctors and it’s terrible. She was having Gypsy digest things to make it look like she had something. She even had a cream applied inside her mouth to explain her saliva!
These doctors were tricked and there are many in the HBO documentary who did question her but she moved on as soon as she was asked questions that seemed suspicious. Drs go off what they are told. I have a medical condition and my dr has to rely on what I tell him and the tests that indicate to him what is going on.
Drs are trained to look for abuse that is physical and MBP is extremely difficult to diagnose and needs careful monitoring. Even then it can go horribly wrong. Look at the take care of maya case. That was so tragic and could have been avoided. But the reason they did what they did, not that it is right or any excuse, but it’s because of people accusing them of things out of their control like Gypsy’s case. So now they have gone too far the other way and it ended with a women, a mother taking her own life.
Gypsy did suffer but the only person who is to blame is her Mother. No one goes after her father who was in contact with them. He could have sent welfare checks by cps or made a surprise visit. I’m not blaming him because he did do the best he could with what he had as did the Drs.
So please, before you attack the drs, remember that they had a job to do and they had to deal with just as much manipulation and deception as everyone else that was a part of Deedee’s life. She is the only one who caused this and did this. She proved over and over she would continue to go town to town, state to state to find someone to believe her lies. I understand it’s hard to imagine trained drs not seeing what we see now but none of us were in those examination rooms and none of us know what things she did to make it look like Gypsy was sick. Not to mention the threats people use like I’m going to sue you or call the media if you don’t help me.
They are put in impossible situations by monsters like Deedee. They have to live with the knowledge now of all this and that must be horrible to know you could have helped and you never got the chance. Deedee left no forwarding address or took medical records with her when she left drs. Place the blame where it belongs. With Deedee Blanchard. Thank you.

You can tell how she expresses herself, her body language and how she doesn’t have any problem to express her past, feelings that she did overcome her mistakes and become a good human being.. she didn’t have that choice before. Yet reaching out to her dad somehow never crossed Gypsy's mind? And look at all the press she is doing now and all the stories/pictures she has agreed to do. She is making a fortune off of a crime and will never have to work a day in her life. That is exactly what her mother did. And, as a Louisiana native who also survived Katrina I can say that it was "the perfect storm" for DeeDee. So many of us struggled for YEARS to recover lost records that I can see how she used this to her advantage. The DRs in Missouri were beginning to suspect something was amiss but every time they tried to get an accurate medical history, DeeDee would hand them her own documentation of Gypsy's "illnesses" . Also, according to Rod Blanchard (Gypsy's dad) every time DeeDee would encounter resistance from the medical community she would just move herself and Gypsy to a new address and seek out new doctors. The woman really was an all around con artist. Even Gypsy's name ... Look up Gypsy Rose Lee, Baby June and their mother Rose. It is basically a blueprint for how DeeDee raised her daughter and it gives me chills. I think DeeDee was well aware of the original Gypsy Rose Lee and thought she was being super clever by giving her daughter that name..

I could NEVER judge this young lady.
At almost 40 years of age I am finally admitting I need help.
My biological mother was extremely violent…
The LAST time I saw her outside a hospital setting she threatened to “blow my brains out”.
I’ve since learned she held a loaded weapon on my father when I was deployed.
My only brother took his life bc of her abuse.
Growing up with an untreated mentally ill “parent” was a nightmare.
What I experienced was NOTHING compared to the abuse and indignities inflicted on Gypsy her entire life.
An abuser can cause their victims life long emotional damage.
I can’t imagine the abuse Gypsy suffered.
Completely ISOLATED to suffer chronic long term abuse alone.
Her entire life was a lie, that was her “normal”.
I could NOT have voted Gypsy guilty.
She was NEVER taught or exposed to any kind of “normalcy”.
Everyone believed she suffered muscular dystrophy and severe cognitive challenges.
    Even Gypsy’s father believed it.
Claudine ensured everyone Gypsy met believed she was cognitively impaired.
That way nobody would take Gypsy’s word seriously.
Gypsy Rose had NOBODY but her mother.
The whole situation was so abusive, toxic and bizarre.
I know our society can’t condone “vigilante justice” but what were her options?
Murder isn’t right, but was Gypsy even capable of fully understanding that?
She should have been sent to an appropriate mental healthcare facility.
Gypsy Rose is a VICTIM. Her mother WAS killing Gypsy.
    Unnecessary operations and dangerous meds?!?!
At the very least Gypsy should’ve been tried as minor.
Personally I don’t believe Gypsy should’ve served prison time.

No, he doesnt. Have you heard the details of the crime? Those are not the actions of a loyal bf who was just freeing his gf from her abuser. He didnt need much convincing, he admitted he had an "alternate identity" that loved to kill living in his head. He was excited to commit the murder. He stabbed Dee Dee 17 times nearly decapitating her and wanted to rape the corpse after she was dead because he got off to the murder sexually. The only reason he didnt is because Gypsy begged him not to and offered herself in Dee Dee's place to get him to agree. He's mentally unwell and a danger to society. He likely would have killed someone eventually.

I will never understand people that are more concerned with the life of a monster, than the life of a victim, who in this case, was robbed of a normal childhood, development, opportunities, was medically mutilated and chronically maltreated by her own caretaker... However, his illness meant he didn't understand what he did was wrong because someone he trusted told him it was right. I worked in group homes. He is perfectly capable of assistance living or group home living. He wouldn't even need the mental institution unless he got violent again for some reason. For reference, criminals do live in assistance living or group homes also. There are more options. The thing is having a person or a team there to help the individual along. They may not be able to live publicly, but this doesn't mean they have to live in jail where they will be abused.

Yes, think he should be in a secure psychiatric facility, not prison. It’s time for our society to help more people in prison to receive improved treatment for mental and developmental disabilities they have. We cannot continue to warehouse 1.8 million people in the US in prisons without better mental health and substance abuse treatment programs. I know a nurse who works in a state prison, this is what he’s telling me about his work, that it’s just not working how we’ve put people in prisons then wonder why if they are released, why they continue to reoffend.

Yes god my fingers are crossed though that this is real change bc it does provide a little hope to ppl who have had hard challenges whether as severe as hers or our own. But her entire life she has been either abused or in prison. We know what abuse does & we know prison sure don’t help much. So if this is real… she’s a poster child of reform & role model & will be forever. And it’s a feel good story . A redemption arc that I want to root for sooooooo bad. But is it possible to get that kind of therapy & healing in a prison environment. She’s been out of jail less than a week & she presents like she’s had the best intense psychological treatments & dedicated her entire life to healing w/ every step but in prison. Idk and I’m sooo weary to believe it’s real. Because if she lets me down I’m gonna be upset lol.
We got a situation here that could be good for generations to come or detrimental & im terrified it will be the latter. God I hope though she shows us all no matter what we’ve been through we can find hope again no matter how late.
If it’s manipulation just keep fkn acting please maam. You get sideways & the damage you’re gonna cause to these younger ones & even older looking up to & believeing in you is gonna be on a magnitude even worse than a few of your mothers.

The one thing is clear. If my ex ever asked me to murder someone for her I would have taken her to the police because something is making her feel that way. The guy who murdered her mother didn't do the right thing.
She has spoken out about the fact that she didn't commit murder. She said she's an accessory and complicit in planning the murder but it was her ex who committed that crime. He should have said no. But instead he lived out his fantasy of being an assassin and a vampire...? Which is kinda strange because he didn't drink any blood. He was a messed up kid who wanted to kill someone. And she just wanted out. Having been kept a prisoner in her own house and fed so much medication that she didn't need messed her brain up. She served her time and now she's speaking out against what she did. Admirable to still take responsibility for what she did. She lied trying to get out of it, but ended up telling the truth.

Honestly I don’t believe that she should be allowed to go to interviews and on tv like she killed her mom. And she lied about a lot of stuff.

She testified against her boyfriend for a lighter sentence.
So should Nick be seen as a Hero since she told Nick she was a victim? Also, Nick looked as if he had mental illness too so I wonder why would he not be offered mental health treatments?
Commit a premeditated murder and the world justifies it. She sat on 20/20 like an intelligent woman as said she did her time and Nick needs to do his.
She was soooo in love with Nick and convinced this man to commit a murder. Then when they sentenced Nick she abandoned him.
She took $4000 out the house and sold Nick a dream ...smh... She learned it from her mother
    I don't know what to think...smh...

Im so proud of her for getting through this with her lessons learn, and dignity in tact. She was wrong for taking her mothers life, and she accepts that. She also learned what other options she had and why it was wrong and what to do differently. Shes been through so much and her situation is unique.

@@briandavis8629 well, was he being abused? Was he made chronically ill by the person he trusted the most? Why didn't he go to the cops? Didn't he always have the freedom that this lady didn't? Was he in danger, from this specific person that he killed? The circumstances are significantly different.

@@MamaTach925 that's why he should be free too, he is on the autism spectrum and can be easily coached into doing anything. Gypsy was the one that asked him to kill her mom not Nicholas. She acted like she wanted to be with him forever and start a new life with him until she got cought and sent to prison. She got a new man while she was locked up, she ruined someone's life to save herself. People are looking at this in the wrong way, everybody is a victim in this situation.

I understand with people going all soft for Gypsy, but the answer she gives for the question asked at 7:16 is just complete BS. She was the one who provoked him which brought out the 'Victor' personality in him - which is a mental disorder in Nick. Gypsy is as guilty as him for the murder and should have a fair 'share' of the punishment.

I love how no one asks about Nicolas-the man who freed Gypsy from this torment. He’s all but forgotten. A means to end. Does she feel any guilt about what’s happened to him? Getting life without parole by doing her dirty work? They openly admit that the murder was Gypsy’s idea 🙄

If you watch the Hulu and Lifetime documentary, she clearly orchestrated the whole murder and took advantage of Nicholas' mental health issues. She should still be in prison and he in a psychiatric facility, not jail
