Its sad because i do believe it. When you have power, you do things that you find you are entitled to where other people at the time might also feel that way because you have power over them. Its sickening but its what happens. And then years later they look back at the situation, everything that happened(as they remember it), they decide it wasnt right. I wish that the world wasnt the way it was. Paula has had her issues, but i do happen to believe her. Wish her and the other woman a better life
People never think it. They never believe someone has power over them. Nor do they allow it. They just take it. They eventually have to come out with it. Usually when you do come out with it the whole world turns against you. As if you are the problem. They don't just suddenly come up. They usually come up and speak of it. But it's always ignored. Then they'll tell you it's past the time limit. Our people will not even make a report like in the state. M living and now. Unless you go to a hospital. They won't make a report on such a thing. There's always some reason not to go forward with it. For those who really don't have anything to fight it.
Often judges make it worse. In my case it eventually turned out the judge was a purve. Found guilty. Of his own grandchild. Yet allowed it to happen to all other women. And he prevented it from coming out in court. By saying he would take kids away if they say exactly what happened. Not even allowing the kids to say their side. All the attorneys involved. r p o s's as well.

Honestly, I'm a female graphics designer and this happens in my field, too - ask any male graphics person or female. Some of the worst offenders are the most talented or high profile or those who hold an 'emmy' or 'oscar' etc. and they can be men and women. Just because you have a title/talent or a little power that doesn't make you exempt from being a jackas_. What I don't understand is why Ms. Abdul waited as long as she did, unless she really needed those paychecks to clear and her contract(s) to end. She is from the same era I am - early '80s and let me tell you, the men in the pre-60s-70s DID have the power back then to treat women poorly in the workplace and on the homefront. It is scarey for women but when older people speak out it can really help the younger generations. Women and Men abusers in any form do not belong in the workplace. That is a place for function - not dysfunction. Ask any reputable producer and they would expect just that.
Why did Paula accept to go to dinner with him if he had already kissed and touched her? You would think if that’s happened she shouldn’t be going to dinner alone with him….

Her first married man in hollywood was Jackie Jackson from the famous Jackson family. Their affair occurred in early 80's while he was married with children. One day out of anger because he wouldn't leave his wife's side to be with her for sex, she drove to his home in a vehicle he purchased for her and caused a major commotion and fight between Jackie and his wife. Paula wanted to confront the wife. At some point during the altercation between the three of them, Jackie's leg was run over by the wife and broken. This was after the popular Victory Tour had begun and he was sidelined with a broken leg for many weeks.
There were other married men afterwards and other behaviors from Paula due to her heavy drinking.
No one deserves sexual harassment or sexual assault against their person!

I like Paula Abdul very much. She dated my brother in law at one time very briefly but some of these women coming forward years later have bad reputations in hollywood behind the scenes and I am not sure that it's as cut and dry in all of these cases.

I actually believe that these kinds of cases should have hard evidence or be filed at the time of the assault. I believe the laws should change that would prevent those who come forward after the assault from losing their job…so that more victims would feel free to come forward right after it happens instead of having to endure it. But there also needs to be hard evidence….otherwise anyone could make any claim they want about anybody….they could make a false claim about you to get you in trouble or arrested and there wouldn’t be anything you could do about it. People have lied about other people before….even sending them to prison….and then video evidence showed the man didn’t force the girl and then the girl admitted she lied. This happens too many times and an innocent person shouldn’t be sent to prison just because someone “claims” he did something….there has to be hard evidence to back up those claims.
I doubt sending that old guy to prison is her goal; it sounds like getting more money is.

You’d be surprised. Someone pulled a knife on me….I was scared shitless. I had nightmares for days afterwards…I worked with that man for almost another year. I managed to keep my distance from him. Fortunately…but I imagine it’s hard to do that in that kind of industry where these men have the power over your career. 😢 There’s lose your job, your reputation, your ability to feed, house and clothe yourself…or there’s suck it up and hope it doesn’t get worse or happen again. We’re moving into a liberating period of life where we no longer have to fear the repercussions of speaking out against powerful men and it’s actually encouraged to tell your story. It’s not PERFECT for being honest and telling your truth. There’s still victim blaming. There’s still people who hound victims for coming after celebs they love. But it’s better than where we were before.

It's because it's so difficult to prosecute these people criminally, if they do get convicted, they serve very little time, the statute of limitations may have run out, and financial consequences are real consequences for some.

She probably feels pretty confident she's going to win or she wouldn't bother paying for a lawsuit now. I guess you had better be careful who you ride in an elevator with if you have a little money in the bank.... because decades later you might be sued. IDK. I know he was her boss and everything, and her job paid a lot, and he really could have ruined her whole career, but can you imagine? Doing all of that on an elevator ride at the spur of the moment by surprise like that? I mean. You would expect her to fight and scream immediately without being able to process why she shouldn't. It's highly likely someone else would have been able to detect what had occurred. How long was the elevator ride? Most elevator rides are probably less than a minute long, and if it's a short ride, it's going to literally be a few seconds even if it does seem like it takes forever for the doors to open. And she didn't say a word. And then she goes to his house for dinner one night and he does a whole lot worse than that. I know it can be explained away, but it sure is hard to really believe.
