I don’t feel bad for her at all. She banked off of being very vile for years and years. Now she wants to cry about money. The only housewife in the franchise that I see who chose to leave on her own because she saw her real life was more important than the show was Dina from RHONJ. She was a class act and very conscious unlike the rest of these banshees.

I guess she had her own show for a couple years revolving her business called “Dina’s Party.” But I don’t think it’s of the same manner as Housewives, which banks off the women acting like catty maniacs. So I still commend her for leaving the franchise and keeping her integrity.

Bethanny was on the show for like 10 seasons or more. And she even had her own spin offs. So after doing allllll that for all this time, she’s like « it’s wrong »? Without reality tv she’d still be selling her little cupcakes in the supermarket instead of being a millionaire
This. She undoubtedly profited the most off the show out of all the housewives. She gamed the system to promote herself and her brands for as many episodes possible. Not only that, it was so evident that she teamed up with Andy to help exploit the other ladies' drama and storylines. The whole point of reality TV is to document the things which bethenny says were being exploited. If you werent happy with your salary or having to talk about your difficulties then dont so on the show.
The answer is just ask a lawyer to look at the contract before signing. Technically as most performers are unknown and some have no ‘craft’ as such then surely they need to prove themselves for a first season before they can start negotiating for residuals.
Also as there are now countless reality shows out there, the performers absolutely do know what they are signing up for!
Lastly, I think that the studios need to put the potential performers through a mental health check before - this is no doubt lacking.

She’s a woman of principle and has the intellectual capacity as well as experience to see the whole picture. These changes are screaming to be made and the fact the casts are not getting residuals is a scandal considering the gigantic profits they make. Most people with her wealth (which is self-made, not handed by bravo) would not give a toss and spend their days holidaying. Instead she’s showing solidarity with people who are as vulnerable as she once was and only deserves respect. Bethenny Frankel made the most of Bravo for sure, but will exist far beyond it because she’s a bright individual who creates her own path. As for the stick she gets, most individuals on the right side of history have been called ‘killjoys’ for standing up to a rotten status quo. No one is saying stop the joy, these shows are highly enjoyable, but compensate people reasonably it’s not the middle-age.
i thought the sole reason reality tv grew to what it is was the LOW production costs. any kind of reckoning will mean less shows (which is a good thing) or possibly the end of the concept. then again, there will always be a huge selection of thirsty ppl out there who are willing to do anything to be seen.
They are reality material for tv fodder. Not actors. Their mess sells and earns $$$
