    Short summary of this part of the interview. If I missed a point, feel free to add them below :)
    1. Veggies first, then protein, then carbs
    2. Eat slowly
    3. Stop counting calories
    4. Have a savoury breakfast (protein, fiber)
    5. If you eat fruit, eat it as a whole. Keep the fiber! (No juicing)
    6. Put one tablespoon of vinegar in a big glass of water and drink it before your meal.
    7. After you eat, move. (Calf raises/ taking a walk)
    Thank you for yet another amazing interview! I'll try the hacks and buy the book!

    VPS: 1. Veggies first, 2. Proteins second, 3. Startches last.
    - Veggies have fiber. Fiber stays in your intentestines as a sort of barrier and then prevents glucose molecules from going through as easily. This then prevents your blood sugar from spiking as much.

But my reasoning was that I wanted to save the best / most “indulgent” until last 🙈and also prioritise veggies because I thought they would fill me up sooner so I wouldn’t eat so quickly.

      Honestly, this order is how multi course meals would be served in Italy, France, Greece. Veg or salads, then protein, side dishes of starch, long slow meals and small desserts last. Mediterranean living really nails it in so many ways. Just imagining the long, slow, lovely meals overlooking the ocean under a sunny sky, then a leisurely stroll after...oy. 😂

    Regarding eating vegetables first, the stomach processes them all together before passing them to the intestine. I'm curious about why the stomach prioritizes the order of digestion based on what is consumed first. When you pop the stool doesn't come out based on which you ate first. Of course what I am talking about is a single meal .

    • @branrx
      @branrx Год назад +1

      I was thinking the same thing. It’s not like you’re eating broccoli and it immediately starts coating your intestines. I would think your carbs are going to end up getting down there at the same time, unless, I guess , it’s in liquid form.

    • @abigailloar956
      @abigailloar956 Год назад +7

      It isn't about that, it's about slowing your blood sugar spike. If you consume sugars and processed carbs first your sugar is going to have a massive spike. If you eat green vegetables or protein first, there isn't much there to spike you sugar, and when you and your carbs at the end there is enough protein, fiber, and fat to slow the glucose absorbtion.

    • @katashley1031
      @katashley1031 Год назад +3

      Yes, eventually it's all together. But if you dump sugar into the stomach alone first, the blood sugar spike is almost instant. If you dump fiber, protein and fat first, then carbs, that spike doesn't happen. Try it yourself, monitoring your glucose, and see.

I would go for sugars a lot lol, I loved potatoes and pasta lol but usually at dinner if all groups were separate, I'd get the veggies out of the way 1st and i would save my favorite for last... like steak idk. Perhaps a large problem is a lot of meals everywhere is they are all mixed together.

      She's right and wrong there. You will find a massively different outcome if you consume solely fruit juice versus solely soda. One contains electrolytes, vitamins and minerals, the other contains caramel color and phosphoric acid. So the isolated sugar isn't really the issue, it's how the juice and the soda affect the body altogether. I've done long juice fasts and felt wonderful. If I just drank cola for days if feel horrible.

    True about the cola vs juice however, difference is there is no nutrients in cola compared to freshly squeeze orange juice. So yeah in term of sugar it might not make a big difference(though there is a bit less sugar per 100ml in juice) but it terms of nutrients it has major difference

      50+ years ago people pretty much are this way naturally. Salad first, usually with a vinegar and oil dressing, then maybe a soup or veg starter, main course of protein with a starchy side, dessert, long, slow meals. Literally how restaurants used to offer food. Walking after dinner was normal too. So most of this is just going back to old ways of eating.

    I don't eat food in any order because if you exercise right, especially cardio stuff, you have supreme control over what you eat, that your body uses up any carbs after exercise and doesn't store not touch the insulin resistance, because simply put I don't overdue it, and with exercise daily because it doesn't spike the blood glucose levels, you have the will power not to over eat.
    The problem comes from eating sweet things when your not exercising, this will always make us want to eat more sweet things that eventually spikes the blood sugar levels, I suppose in that case eating in a certain order is going to help you.

      No it doesn’t, your body only treats sugars differently depending on what it’s eaten with.
