The healthy Syd Barrett was very creative. Syd and Pink Floyd went well together. The first album The Piper..... is a good record. Unfortunately Syd had the wrong friends. His bad times started in the shared flat where Syd lived. He hung out too much with junkies. If you take LSD several times a week it's not good for your brain. Syd's second solo album is better than Pink Floyd's records 2, 3 and 5. Syd Barrett could have become something real!!! He failed as a painter and musician. I'm interested in how Syd lived with his illness???
What failure means? Did you actually heard the song? What a failed musician... You know, stop listening to things just through what you expect about life or music, kid.
From all I’ve read and seen, I wouldn’t agree. I think Roger/Syd always had ASD but learned to mask it from an early age which was why he was so uniquely refreshing. I think as he got into his twenties combined with his lifestyle, the mask dropped and the real autistic Syd was laid bare. This explains the frequent zoning out and songs such as Vegetable Man. Syd was self aware but couldn’t mask his autism any more. Great and unique talent is often the result of a different brain wiring to neuro typical people. I think the LSD is overplayed as a causative although that and the Mandies/Ludes probably had some effect with loosening the mask. Syd was what he was and we still have a beautiful but short legacy to remember him by. My tuppence anyway.
@@user-rb3jw7yj9o When Syd Barrett was 15 his father died. Syd had been taking drugs before his time with Pink Floyd! Syd brought his drug addiction with him into the group Pink Floyd. At 22 Syd was a sick person... He could no longer play the correct scale... He didn't live in the here and now... He wanted to start a cult... He tried to climb walls... He put on 💄 lipstick and women's shoes... Syd had the illness of catatonia!! Syd was not diagnosed with mental disability or autism. He continued to take drugs during his 2 solo albums!! No brain can handle that!! When he had no longer taken LSD he smoked Mantrax and hash. The drugs destroyed his life!! Psychiatry was not yet ready at that time. The Barrett family and the group Pink Floyd were obviously overwhelmed. In 1974 he was in the studio again, but Syd Barrett could no longer play music. 🎞️🎥 His whole life should be made into a film. A sad story. His sister Rosemary Breen once said: Syd had to learn to cope with his brain damage.

@@user-rb3jw7yj9o Syd Barrett did not have autism. He was far too sociable and lively for that. The drugs LSD, Mantrax and hashish ruined his mind and his life! He took drugs far too early and for far too long. He got proper help far too late. Psychiatry was not yet ready at that time.
he so effortlessly captures the essence of dylan's early song structures
