Nice first look of a hard to find game at a good price...I am still searching for a copy - if you can do a review as well that would be cool...

You didn't close your door (-:
I haven't seen this one before so thanks for sharing...tell your friend thanks as well...over 70% of the new games I own were purchased because I saw a video first about them that showed off the components, talked about the rules, etc.

Will do! Yes, I forgot to add the door close sound. LOL. I realized it right after I uploaded the video.

The "Good Old Days" when you had to buy blind half the time and the rest you were relying on maybe a couple of magazine reviews belie the phrase, yeah. Internet makes game purcahses way safer and easier, no doubt about it.

I think it's a difficult thing to design a good tactical age of sail game so I take my hat of to anyone who does it. There is just so many variables to consider the game can get bogged down in rules. And on the other hand if you leave to much out you run the risk of the game losing some great flavor. Thanks for the unboxing.

Doesn't this game use a War at Sea-like game system? Looks nice though!

It may very well. Somebody on Boardgamegeek said it's "War at Sea in the Age of Sail." I haven't read the rulebook yet, so I can't verify.

The publisher site flat out says it"s "inspired by" War At Sea with tweaks to account for the Age of Sail setting. Even gameplay sounds similar, with the weaker "European powers" (who must vary by scenario) trying to contest area control with the stronger Royal Navy in much the same way the Germans do in WaS. There's also a chunk of errata on the game page that's probably important: " - 8.3 As stated at the start of the rule both players, not just the English player as indicated later, lose a point for each ship lost during the turn.
      - Delete rule 6.233 in its entirety. I was trying to account for a minor event and should never have put it in at the last moment. Sorry.
      - When returning to port, players should alternate returning squadrons to port in the same manner as when alternating movement during the turn.
      - For Victory Point levels, the rules are correct and the flow chart in error, in that 50 VP or more is needed for a Major Victory.
      - For Searching, the Avoid player uses three (3) dice as indicated in the rules, not one (1) as shown on the flow chart.
      - On the map the first scenario flag for ownership of New Orleans was in error made Dutch when it should have been French. Something about the colour bars going in the wrong direction and we missed it."
