We have been on the modified atkins diet for 3 1/2 years. It is a type of keto diet. The diet not only has reduced Ronnie's seizures to 1 a year (that was when I forgot that much oriental cooking is laced with msg and can trigger seizures. We both became ill from that meal
and he had one seizure). His T1 diabetes is well controlled. Ronnie (75 years old) is free from the side effect of seizure meds now because he needs none. His weight is excellent and his cholesterol level is lower than it was before the keto diet. His triglyceriide level is normal..

If you ask me, keto is not for most people. It is just really tough to stick with and you feel exhausted. But the Agoge diet on the other hand feels great, and it works too.

Actually keto is not hard to stick to at all it's extremely easy to follow once you are aware of what to avoid and yes it is good and would work for most people.

The so-called 'side effects' of a ketogenic diet are almost always due to a lack of salt (dizziness, weakness), magnesium (cramps, spasms, or twitches), or potassium.
This was generally not a problem for our ancestors who used the entire animal, often including the blood (a good source of salt).
IF one is consuming organ meats and/or broth made with bones, meat scraps, fats and connective tissue (the gristle melts and gives a wonderful flavor!) - now often called 'bone broth' but though the 1970s at least it was simply called 'broth' or stock - then supplementtion with magnesium and/or potassium is probably not necessary.
Low salt consumption has been promoted with very little justification. A recent study that MEASURED salt consumption (instead of using questionaires to ask people how much salt they consumed) in 102,000 people in 7 countries (if I recall correctly). The PUR study out of McMaster Univ in Canada found that death by all causes was LOWEST at TWICE the amount of daily salt intake that the US gov't recommends. Salt requirements on a low-cab/ketogenic diet is higher, as the kidneys flush it out. (Virta Health, Dr. Stephen Phinney, MD, PhD)
Pre-pollution sea salt (Himalayan Pink, Kansas Grey, Redmond Real Salt, etc) contains valuable trace and micro-trace minerals, has a wonderful flavor, and DOES NOT contain the chemicals added to processed table salt (which have no trace minerals).

The only diet that worked for me is the *Agoge diet* ? All others were difficult to adhere to and I felt horrible

Is he against the use of cbd to reduce symptoms of epilepsy outright, or did I observe his remark as being more passive aggressive than he meant it to be?

I was born with epilepsy and cerebral palsy. I have a twin brother, i was born first. My brother was born with no problems. I take phenytoin for my epilepsy, as a child I was on phenabarbatone, then at 14 i was put on Epilim 500mg. Which caused me to gain lots of weight. I went to live in Canada for a few years where I was taken off eperlim & switched to phenytoin. Which I still take today. As a child I had grand mal seizures, which doctors said I would grow out of. Which I did, but I now have petit mal. It' feels weird when I have it, i can hear all thats going on around me, but ppl and any noise, sound much louder, plus it feels like I'm floating on water. Before the seizure I get the smell like burnt toast. I can have a seizure at any time, night or day. Unpredictable. I feel a little confused when I come round, which lasts for a couple of minutes, then I'm back with you again. Usually a cup of tea helps me recover. I read a lot of blogs where people who shared their testimonies kept mentioning Anti-seizure Herbal medication. I searched for a website I just followed the email address of Doctor Patrick that was shared on these testimonies; I got lucky when I got a reply from Dr. Patrick. I followed his instruction, used Herbal Medicine in less than 2 months, I was already cure because of the changes I was seeing. Within a period of 5 months, I was cured totally forever. I went back to my neurologist, I was checked up and marked epilepsy free. If you need his help you can Contact this herbal doctor via his email herbalmedicalhome@gmail.com and WhatsApp connection is +2348102558553 for help, facebook.com/Doctor-Patrick-119465009919223.

Gluten is a neurotoxin that can cause seizures for someone that has gluten sensitivity or celiac disease. It’s not the low carb but the elimination of gluten that will stop seizures and also the keto diet. But keto needs to be gluten free.

There was a study on mice. If adenosine receptor is faulty, the mice will get seizures if given glucose, not just gluten.

Since the starch in grain is made of glucose molecules hooked together, which rapidly enter the blood stream after ingestion, grains are eliminated from a 'well-formulated ketogenic diet' as defined by Dr. Stephen Phinney, PhD, and also the 'modified' Atkins diet, as used by Dr. Eric Westman at Duke University. Since the bloodstream of the average human contains only about 1 tsp (~5 grams) of glucose, it takes only a small amount of grain or processed grain food (bread, muffins, bagels, pasta) to block ketosis.
As your comment points out, there are other benefits to eliminating grains from the diet, including the elimination of gluten, and also avoiding the oxalates they contain, among other substances which can be harmful to humans.
Gluten is one of hundreds (maybe more) of chemicals made by plants, either as part of their functions, or to specifically protect themselves from being consumed, primarily by insects. As bad as man-made pesticides can be, it has been said that about 95.5% of the pesticides consumed by humans when we eat plants are those made by the plants.

Lack of gluten will help symptoms for someone with a tolerance but it's the use of ketones that help reduce and prevent seizures.

I am not a quitter but I couldn't go through with the keto diet because it made me feel awful. I then tried the Agoge diet and I lost so much fat, and most importantly no more cellulite.

By far the best diet is the *Agoge diet* because it works great and is easy to follow. Keto is simply harmful and hard to follow.

The Agoge diet works great and you feel good, contrary to keto. Keto isn't supposed to be adhered to by healthy people and without medical supervision.

The *Agoge diet* is a much better option than the keto diet. It's well structured, balanced and peronalized. Keto is just unhealthy and very tough to adhere to.

Keto is not worth it imho. It is risky and hard to follow. I recommend the Agoge diet because it's personalized and diverse and most importantly worked great for me.
