- Here is the second part in the review of Dragon's StuG III G Early initial tooling. I have finished the build (Except one piece I forgot to glue until editing this video) and now will show you what did and didn't go so well with the build.
This is a series I plan to continue going forward with all of the kits I review. I figure this way you can see the sprues in part 1 and get a feeling for the kit, but then see how it pans out in the end.
This could also serve as an update for my build in the StuG Life GB.
Top notch build....showing the pros and the cons. Looking forward to the next update. Keep having fun.
Bill.
***** thank you sir. That's the idea.
nice to see it in full screen now :) looks very good to me, a clean build as you pointed out yourself.
Hamilkar Barkas Yeah, it went really well. Super fun.
Just started building this kit based on your recommendation. It’s my first Dragon Kit. Part fidelity and fit is excellent! I got Kaizen winterketten tracks for it. Should be cool!
Very nice build, Can't wait so see her in paint.
Clayton McClain Thank you. started priming tonight.
Good work Adam. Level of detail is impressive. Cheers mark o
Thanks.
A very neat build! Looking forward to the next phase :)
Nice overview of the kit! Keep up the good work!
Norm Lajoie Thanks Norm. I plan to.
I like the idea of a kit review after you've built it. Much better than the in box reviews.
Stevie Gibson
Agreed. Ideally I'd have both at the same time, and in some cases I'm going to do that as I have doubles of things I'm building to have during reviews. But at least if I do these people can get a feel for how the thing turned out.
Love these "After Action" reviews - perfectly complement the in box reviews. Also thanks for mentioning how the drive assembly was glued with crystal clear for removal - was just about to ask how you were gonna paint the drive wheels(!).
+Jim Peavy Thanks very much. It's how I talk to my modeler friends about kits. It makes sense to just do that in a video.
Looks like a really clean build Adam, for the future get yourself some super glue de-bonder, I don't think it affects the plastic. For those tow cables, try annealing them first before you bend them.
Hope this helps......Paul
milky55way2012 I've annealed them in the past, I just spaced on it. But I may get some debonder. Thanks.
excellent build. Thank you for sharing
Keldonzoo You're welcome man. It was very easy build.
Great Build! Area got mangled?????? Oh you mean the vehicle has been modeled to show battle damage!!!!! Looks Great can't wait to see it painted and weathered.
michael green thank you. In the end that spot was nothing. I primed her last night and you can't even see it now. I think the issue is just one of feeling out of control.
Nice updatw bud, its looks top notch, oh those radios lol
Shane Smyth Thanks Shane. I couldn't help myself.
Adam Mann hahah I was waiting for it :P
Nice build. Some good tips for those of us not as far along. I have to check my kit for adding the gun mantle/gun assembly....
Michael Smeltzer
thanks. Yeah in this instance it should be able to be reference for a lot of guys due to the GB
Nice evaluation, Adam. Darn! I already glued my thingy above the breech. Oh well. I found my superstructure to not fit too well with chassis and fenders. A little cut work and she is all better now. Yes, a build review is a lot more interesting and informative. More please.
Russell Gosselin Thanks Russell. I know these make more sense, but a lot has to happen to get to this point. There will be more though. And my theory about mounting the gun is just a theory. I'll test it on the next StuG.
Very nice Adam
paips4 Thank you sir.
those little periscope things the Germans used just crack me up. It's like there's a Disney alien poking his eyeballs out of that hatch.
will pattison I think the same thing. It's almost adorable, which goes against the whole evil machine thing.
Cool!
Check out panzer colors 3 by Squadron for a color painting guide Adam. Its not the final word but it has a lot of painting options for stugs.
+oddball excellent. I'll check it out.
cool Stug.
Eric Brown Thanks man. I have you down on my list as interested. You still going to build a StuG?
is it to late to sign up? I just got one in the mail.
No man, as long as you finish by October 1st. And that's still a soft deadline since it's a non pressure for the love it GB.
aahhh! hell yeah! I am in on this build! :) !!!!
I will get a starter video out in the next couple of days... yee ha! what fun...:)
Eric Brown
Awesome. Glad to hear it.
DS stands for disheartening situation..Or dogs .....so kaizen the fair priced go to for when fruil is just too extravagant.
Radios
Outside German grey with a field grey face
oh and the interior? how you gonna paint that realistically? mere minutes and I'm out, see ya noob.
Who on earth fully assembles any kit before painting??? I want to see you paint exhausts, wheels, rubber rims...jeeez, total amateur.
+gary roberts Most of it is either not glued or white glued in this video. I took it apart before I started painting.
Adam Mann whew! thats a relief..but might I suggest that you clearly state this fact in the future..I must argue with some newbie every other day about how to paint complex models, and the number of guys who will insist, and fight you even, about gluing everything permanently together and then painting is astonishing. Please don't give those noobs a hero to point at!
