- This video is the first installation of my build-through series on this heavily field-modified StuG III, in which I construct the lower hull and the front of the upper hull. In this series I'll show all my tips, tricks, and suggestions for assembling Dragon/Cyberhobby 1:35 StuG III kits!

Great video and very helpful too. I have been back into the hobby recently after many years away. I have just bought my first Dragon kit, and it is also my first Stug build. I found your video very helpful as a first time Dragon Stug builder. Although my Stug was kit 6578, there are many similarities. I also find that I am lazy about small fiddly parts that you can not see. I do not bother with them either, such as Parts A-4. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for a great video. I enjoy seeing the kits I would like to try. Looks like another great Dragon kit
Excellent start Evan. This thing is gonna be awesome when complete. You make the construction of complicated and highly detailed Dragon kits look so easy. I am always put off by the bad press the instructions are given. Continued success Sir, looking forward to the next update.. All the best.. :0)
It was nice to have a hangout with you earlier, the banta that was being thrown around was unreal ;) ahaha must do again so, but with less shots fired haha
The build is looking very nice. Love all that spare track armor add ons. I may join the GB....love the STUG. Keep having fun.
Bill.
+PanzermansBunker Thanks as always Bill! You're the GB master lol...I've seen your StuG you did with the interior exposed and the one you're doing now is looking great with all your usual modifications! Molded on tools aargh you always turn those old kits into something incredible :D
Your Stug looks awesome and very clean build. Sorry to hear about some minor issues with the kit. I'm having issues with my Stug as well. I believe the one I have must be the worst Stug III from Dragon that I have ever built. Looking forward in see the rest of your build!
The excellent model turns out! We wait for continuation
Nice kit Evan. Plenty of uber detail. Slightly worried when you said 'I'm going to trust dragon instructions' lol. Keep up the good work mate. Looking great
Nice work there Evan
Well, what can I say.....? You must be the fastest builder in the world! Kinda funny looking at your sped up build.
Nice build up Evan......I'm with ya on building wheels, I hate them too.
following this, must be a nice build!
Nice build so far Evan - just finishing a Panther diorama today!

Interesting about the spare tracks and their location.... on the sides.... you don't want too much Track slack.... as they could interfere ???
Great video. What are the part numbers for the doors near the wading muffler not mentioned in the instructions. They go where there is usually a mess screen?
Looking good.
Is this a current kit? Can't wait to see more about this bulid. Thanks for sharing.
+Tom Poling I'm not sure if this kit is new, though it can't be more than 5 or 6 years old given the quality. I'm building it right now for a series; part 2 was just put up and part 3 is nearly done. I've also uploaded a track-assembling video on this kit which should be uploaded my the time you read this. Painting and weathering videos coming too...I have a lot planned!
Nice work on the stug panzermeister btw longtime no see

+graham aker Oh hi! Thank you :) yes it's been some time
wow very good video man, that's my first, so that helped me.
But a question, how did u put wheels togheter ? u used glue ? its so hard to match them and i dont eant to broke it.
Tank u
Great video. The stadtgas frame looks super neat. What suprglue did you use? Just regular stuff? Did you see the photos of the STURMGESCHUTZ ON THE BATTLEFIELD books that I put up for you a few days ago? As for the the rear watertight doors. I presume this was like a Frankenstein ("thats Franken STINE, not Franken STEEN").....do you know the film?....vehicle that they put together. As you say pziiim chassis, late cast mantlet with mg (very late), so my guess is they would have left the doors off as they served no purpose at that point in the war. Probably! If it was me, Id probably fit them but have them open, rather than closed. I think that would look different. I have a pziiim and left the rear doors open and it looks cool! Anyways, GREAT JOB!!!!! KUTGW!!!!
I was wondering what color filter I should use for my M1A2 SEP Abrams Tusk II? Note that the color of the tank is Tamiya TS-46 light sand
I love Dragon Stug's also..have you tried to do a interior version yet? I did a couple. I used the CMK Interior kit.
The Dragon Stug III E comes with interior ammo boxes, hopefully they will do future G's with the same.
Yeah I noticed that kit had the ammo storage while their other don't. Some day soon I want to try a full interior on one of these StuGs

i have a question. Did you notice the bad fit with the barrel to the pig head mantle? I have a bunch of these Cyberhobby/ Dragon Stug III's & IV'S & they all use the same parts. How do you manage? Do you just glue the barrel into the mantle hole or work it to fit into the mantle slot? This only aply's to the pig head mantle not the squarish mantle.
I've never really noticed that, no. I mean, there's a tiny bit of a gap around the barrel where it slides in because the gun barrel recoils and the mantlet doesn't, but it's a very small gap. AS you can see here on one of my older StuGs, it fit perfectly (almost too perfect and that gap kinda disapeared with the paint)

As I explained in other reply, this kit is a little different. But I have built two other Dragon StuGs with that mantlet and I never noticed anything too problematic. I glue the barrel in to the mantlet and then glue the mantlet to the mount in the hull (that bit usually has a weak kind of attachment point though) and it all works just fine. I built these kits:

hi you mention that the dragon stugs and t34s are good kits, do you have any other suggestions for good dragon kits for my christmas list apart from these two as i have never built a 1/35 dragon kit and would like to try one out?
+Simple Modelling Dragon's Panzer III and IV kits are very good, at least the ones released before about 2011. Look on scalemates for the release dates.
Panzermeister36 ok thank you 👍🏻
I just bought this exact kit, but without tracks- how do I find out what kind I need and where to find them? For stug 3's aftermarket tracks come in like 3 varieties. Thanks for any suggestions!
There are actually at least 15 types of StuG III compatible tracks :D
For this vehicle you'll want the standard "type 3" track with open guide horns. So you have the options:
Friulmodel ATL-04
Masterclub MTL-35008
R-Model 35034
You could also use MTL-35012 or R-Model 35035. That track type is also used on this vehicle.
Oh heck yes, didnt expect responses so soon! You all rock! I just started modeling this week, and stumbled on your channel. Thanks again!
No worries :)
Exactly the torsion bars don’t work so whats the point of having them in there? Very strange.
i know it is late but I cannot find this specific model .... never done a WW2 tank before but this one really appeal to me... what is the number of the kits... thanks , by the way your videos are really helpful...
Dragon 6371 or Cyberhobby 31 is the kit number...it has two numbers for some reason.
thank you for taking the time...you re a champ!
How long have u been doing scale modelling mate?
Probably around 8 years now. So I guess when I was around 15 years old...
Thinking of taking up this hobby. What do you think I should start with?
Like what brand or what kind of model? I would recommend Timaya cause it's pretty well detailed and pretty easy. Just get yourself some of this stuff : www.amazon.com/Testor-Corp-Liquid-Cement-Plastics/dp/B0006N6ODS
And your pretty much good.
I would really recommend u use that brand of cement cause it's real precise especially with the metal applicator tip
And this for weathering and shading

Mig pigments are really
Just sprinkle some mig pigments of your choice on with a soft brush for dirt and a hard brush for rust and a horse hair sorta brush for that acrylic stuff in The mud set and to keep the pigments on just get an eye dropper and drop alcohol on the pigments to keep it on ;-) good luck
+Typical “ProjectHunger” Typical AS in what kit to start with?
found it on eBay thank you again..
