I just saw these on Amazon and did a quick search on RUclips. Fantastic review. I’ve had 2 of the originals now for about a decade. Both I got used. There is a difference between the 2 originals I’ve had. The first one was amazing and I loved it. The second one was a bit newer and there were some changes made to it. There’s less holes for the water to come out of the head into the grounds. It gets too clogged to operate very quickly and in general just doesn’t make as nice of a cup of coffee. I’m going to try my luck with the next Gen with water reservoir due to limited counter space! Thanks for the review.
Hello, my wife and I are trying to get away from K-cups so we'll need a new machine and your review was a great help. Thankyou for your review. I have hooked up a water line by tapping my refrigerator line, adding another filter inline and then a little plastic float valve inside the coffee reservoir. Works great! Got the idea from another RUclipsr. Valve description is: "Pxyelec 2pcs Water Filter Float Ball Valve". I'm buying the Hamilton Beach with the reservoir for this reason. No K-cups needed and water reservoir included. Only thing I'm worried about is the flooding issue people have mentioned. I'll try it out good before I put a hole in the reservoir lid! LOL.. thanks again.
wow that sounds like a neat idea, I too would be worried about the float not shutting off the water, I have seen a friends house after her ice maker line had a tiny leak while she was on vacation. it was bad.
Thanks. I really enjoyed your video! I had the original scoop about 10 years ago, then bought the scoop 2 dual coffee maker, which I was still using until tonight when I found the reservoir model here in your video.
Great detail! And I am a visual person so peering into the top helped me. I would like if you could compare these two vs. the Hamilton ones above: 1. Mr. Coffee single serve, ground coffee only, with the cold brew feature & free tumbler ($79 CAD at Canadian Tire). 2. Ninja, dual brew single serve, both ground & pods, cold brew, ($159 CAD same store). My ideal coffee maker is small/sleek for less counter space, makes a coffee & iced cap/coffee, large single serve, easy to use & clean up, water reservoir holds at least two servings, parts/repairs/that filter scoop easy to order and replace, ideally all parts touching beverage are 100% bpa free or not made of plastic (health). Don't care for fancy cappuccino or espresso. Must have grounds feature so not dependent on pods only. Not too pricey.
Hi. I wanted to ask you if you would do a review on the "Capresso 425 On The Go" coffee maker. It looks like a really nice single serve coffee maker. I think you will like it.
I had a scoop a couple of years ago and it quit working. I could not find a new one anywhere. On the new scoops if you heat the water before putting in the reservoir will the coffee be hotter. The one I had it would heat the water hotter. I have a flex now and it will not heat the water hotter.??
its a great coffee maker but it uses k cup and also has reusable coffee pod. its kind of limited in that you can only brew 2 table spoons of coffee while the hamilton beach can brew almost 3, that means the hamilton beach is perfect for travel mug size coffee and the the solo is great for a single cup 8oz of coffee.
Is the scoop baskets the same size where you can interchange them between models? I'm looking to use the model 49981 with my model 49981R will it work ?
Yeah I think he said in the far left given the programming you can adjust within 8-14 oz range. So if you fill your coffee cup with water and it's 12oz and you pour that in the back reservoir it'll make just that minus a little evaporation.
Nice review! I have a Hamilton Beach 49995 FlexBrew and I prefer it because it does allow for loose grounds or K-Cups or bags such as tea bags. Have you done a review on this model?
Good videos -- I am seeking a Single Brew from Coffee Grounds (no K-Cups) that i can use #2 paper, (easier clean up,, no grinds in coffee, and better taste)) . Goes into a TravelTumbler 18 oz would be Great. All ones i have found are from the Ninja brand and are huge. Also like coffee to come out Hot. vs 160. Recommendations ??
the small filter is going to be a problem. these are great coffee makers. but I have not seen one yet that takes a small Paper filter. maybe just get a 5 cup coffee maker, they take paper filters and are really small. Try the black and decker 5 cup and the mr coffee. ruclips.net/video/7TsNvkwatR4/видео.html
There is a lot of reviews referring to either leaks or a plastic taste. I'm guessing the leaks are due to users putting too much coffee in, maybe filling the scoop up. I can't guess the plastic taste.
yeah maybe, or too fine of grind coffee, mine works and I have had no problems with any of them, I don't use them every day but I have used each one many times
@@JustADad I've put fine grind Lavazza in my Keurig (using My- K-Cup) and while it doesn't leak it does take a lot longer to come out than a typical K-Cup or using Folgers/maxwell House
Can a paper filter be used inside the larger filter with the scooper removed? My husband is against switching to the reusable scooper. I love the idea, but he is a single cup paper filter sort of guy. Lol
I know this was an old post, but there is a Melitta #1 paper filter that fits a lot of these single mug makers. I've been using a paper filter instead of the "permanent" filter in a Black & Decker, because after trying it out, the difference in coffee was incredible. I am looking at buying the 47620 version of this, which brought me to the video. I will definitely be using the paper filters instead of "The Scoop". 🙃
@@JustADad I have been using the OG for about a decade, and the reason the original leaks is because with the minimal filter surface area, and a full 14oz brew, the bottom filer clogs. I am growing tired of tapping the filter handle as part of my morning routine (my solution to the issue), hence my search for a newer update...

P.s. The one on the far left is on sale for $39 CAD now was double that price reg $79 - wondering if it's worth it quality wise.
whats the difference between this type of brew, or if you used a reusable K cup?
stronger more coffee flavor, and fresher sometimes
@JustADad excellent. Good to hear. I wasn't a fan of kcup. I just ordered this coffee maker in stainless on Amazon. Thanks for the help. ☕️

Just wondered, do you like the instant solo single coffee, brewer, better or as much as the the scoop or Hamilton beach?

Which is the best out of the 3?

Maybe it’s possible to brew less than 14 oz if you have less than 14oz of water in the reservoir.

Oh that’s sounds interesting. Thanks for your comment.
yes I have, thanks for letting me know about tea bags, I had no idea

what's the little basket on the side of the filter for?
I have no idea. I have tried to figure it out but have no idea

I guess but I have not seen a paper filter that fits this. you might have to cut one to make it fit

I had the original and mine would leak. I tossed it out. Idk why it did but it did
oh wow, what do you use now?

These things make godawful weak coffee.
