Good message. Best thing you can do for yourself is to read what brings you joy and ignore the trolls. Reading's a very personal experience, after all.

Haha, well I think most smaller creators-and a fair amount of the bigger ones!-just love talking about books. But there’s also those people in every niche, as you have pointed out, that are more interested in views 😅
This comment was started in the hopes of becoming a bright beacon in the darkness for all Adolin lovers… as well as lovers of golden retriever puppies… you know, because they’re the same dang thing. However, this thread has become a cesspool for people with slightly different opinions than mine. AND I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT!
If you don't have much time or oportunities to read and get books, it is great i think to go to the "popular basic" books because there is usually a good reason why so many people likes them. And they are so popular but just in very specific circles, I have problems finding people that know any of my favourite books in real life 😅
I love the message that it's okay to like what you like. knowing yourself and your tastes makes life better in so many ways. From the ones you talk about: I absolute adore MurderBot, one of the most enjoyable series I've read in a long time. And I really need to get around to any Sanderson so I can figure out where I fall lol He started getting big when I was busy with college so I just kind of missed the train and I think I'm ready to hitch a ride. I've read Six of Crows but not the sequel yet. I enjoyed it but I'm not sure I quite grasp the hype. I'm glad I read it though, it was a good time.
For Similiar characterwork, Adrian Tchaikovsky's - Elder Race gave me Sanderson vibes, but mostly because he tackled depression in this book as good or maybe even better than TWoK did
I know that this is a recent release but I am onboard the hype train for The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett. I've seen nothing but praise for it. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series for sure.
@@ebnovels There’s already a synopsis for the second one on goodreads! No mention of something as outrageous as a plant growing from inside a person (a shame 😅) but I’m excited to see what Bennett decides to do next with the world and mystery. Hopefully it can top The Tainted Cup.
Here is my favorite book. I was just asked this question at PT. Most of my favorites are never talked about. I almost want to start making videos of talking about books. I'm conflicted about this. I like to read things off the beaten path, but I also want to do more buddy reads and discussion with others. It's easier to do that with the "basic taste" books.
I'm from Brazil and i can say that Sanderson is one of favorities authors in the booktube from my country, though he's not my favorite hahaha. Octavia Butler is also well-known around here.
I’m new to reading for fun and right now I’m reading ASOIAF. And I love how each chapter is told from a specific character’s POV. Do you know of any similar books?

2 book series I find overrated that seem to hit the top of most fantasy lists are Wheel of Time, and Lord of the Rings. WoT which is a good series but desperately needed an objective editor. It seriously could have used some characters that didn’t always think they knew best as well. Just far too many of the same irritating personality. LotR just gets way too much credit for modern Fantasy. Which is often more inline with the short stories from Weird Tales and early novellas than Tolkien’s work. He also could have seriously used an editor. Very little of his creations were as original as people think being drawn heavily from Folklore and the Bible. But the biggest reason Tolkien is overrated is he crafted an epic fantasy in adult level prose with a child’s level of nuance of good and evil. His characters tend to lack much depth as a result.

Yes and life is too short to be worrying about "having" to read certain books just "because".

I love how Murderbot gets annoyed by people because they do stupid things.
I never wouldve thought Sanderson was basic lol but now I guess I understand
She doesn’t love adolin… GET HER!!!!
I don’t love Adolin too. (Sorry not sorry)

He is not my favorite either lol. Elokar (?) was more interesting to me than Adolin 😅
@@victoriat.similien4973 Absolutely! Way more interesting! I honestly miss him.

Yes, I’m so curious how the next book will play out! There’s so much room for it to go in a lot of different directions 😮

My hot take for the Mistborn saga is era 2 is considerably better than era 1.
I need to get back to the Murderbot Diaries.😅For myself of course.😇
I still haven’t read strange the dreamer 😭
I had stumbled through “the Folly of the World by Jesse Bullington. It may be described as magical realism

I loved Strange the Dreamer but the ending killed my interest in picking up book 2. I still plan to but I am really bummed 😢.
Ooooh you just wait! Book 2 is intense.
Okay that motivates me!!! ❤
I really like your teeth. I’m watching your teeth pretty much the whole video, so fun 🤩

Feeling personally attacked by Elliot calling out so many of my favs😅
How is Elliot enjoying the Elden Ring DLC?
It is a lot of fun, though a couple areas are a little on the empty side for my taste. Still amazing though!

The sequel series of Red Rising is like that. Multiple different POV characters
Age of Uprising! First two books are out, I’m patiently waiting for the third 😅
@@ebnovels I may check them out. Although I’m not ready to get into a new series because I’m short on money.
