    Nice going! One thing that I think helps is, as you go into the trick, front side 5050 grind, backside axle stall etc. - as you go in, position your your front shoulder and arm in a way that anticipates what comes next.
    Like for the front 5050 grind, as you ollie on, open up your front shoulder a little, even point your front arm toward the direction you are going to pivot out.
    Similarly with the backside axle stall on tranny, if you watch, you are wound the opposite direction as if you were going to pivot to fakie or revert back in. If you keep that front shoulder and arm angled more toward the tranny, the the pivot back in it will fee natural.
    Your body wants to follow the alignment of your shoulders. Watch some skate videos and note how their upper body anticipates or sets up differently for different tricks. 🤙

      +ssk right on man, yeah, I don't know why I am doing it ass backwards. I whave beer why my shoulders want to go a different direction. I suppose maybe that is my body exhibiting my fear and lack of commitment to the trick.

    Getting really close to those 50-50s I know you can do it.
    Two things that help me is to go at a little bit of an angle and not so parallel to the ledge/rail. That way when you pop up you automatically do a slight turn, open your body up a little bit and your board will follow you.
    Secondly, (You might be doing this already) but as you get closer before you start to set up for the ollie, find a spot on the ledge/rail you want to land on and stare at it. As you get closer pop the ollie (Before that spot) and you should be locked in on the grind.
    It might not help you, but its how I approach grinds.

      +Connor Cowlick thanks man, this is all very helpful. Mostly what I focused on today was trying to pop my back foot more and think about getting that up and locked into the grind. I think a lot more about my front foot but I think it's doing just fine. It's my back foot and truck I have to worry more about now. I'll keep after it.

    Nice progress on transitions. When you're in that big bowl just remember to pump up and down the wall. Knees bent at the bottom of the transition the you pump up it and when you get towards the peak it's bend the knees, lean in and pump down. Also, pads help the confidence level in bowls.

      +C.J. Robison thanks CJ, yeah, I need to invest in some pads. Still gettin my sea legs with the pumping.

    Hey bro I'm 44 and I just started skating again. I skated for about 3 years when I was a teenager but due to an injury I was off my board for 6 months and by the time I could ride again I had gotten into doing BMX trick riding and just kept doing BMX and never really got back on my board after that. Well now I'm back and I'm loving it. It's not like riding a bike where you get on and go and it's all just familiar, I feel like the only advantage I have over a total noob is knowing skate culture and etiquette. Other than that it feels very much like starting from square one again. I've been going to the local skate park and riding down steeper and steeper banks building up my speed and balance again. I hope to start working on my ollie soon but I need to get pads and a helmet first but that requires me to have money for them, all things in their own time I suppose. Anyhow just wanted to hit you up and let you know I feeling what you do here. Keep it up, skate or die.

      +Grab Tack Knee hey man, thanks for reaching out. Awesome that you are back at it and yeah, others who have written to me from a similar standpoint have said the same thing about it not being like a bike that you just get back on and it all comes back. I suppose there are some very real muscles that you build up, both physically and mentally. Good luck and have fun as you dive back into it all. Skate on dude.

    That mini bowl seems to be good for rock to fakie training. For me personally, it was easier to do when I dared to push front truck far over coping. Looking good overall. Good vibes! :)

    • @BenJaegerThomas
      @BenJaegerThomas  7 лет назад +2

      +Low Bow thanks man, yeah, the next step is to try and start kissing my back truck up next to the coping before pulling it back down. Tweak it out a bit as I get more comfortable.
