Wow this video is great! Such an awesome idea, Gibson is killing it with all these videos and this series is just as cool! Proud to be a long time Gibson user and consumer!!
I knew that band in 2012, the first song I heard was Burning like a flame, and was love at first sight, their music have been musicalizing some cool moments in my life, and I spread the word here with my friends in Argentina, there new Dokken fans here since then. We knew the band in diferent moments in history, but the feeling of the discovery, I can assume, is pretty the same
@Gibson TV It would be awesome if you had Buckethead on here. He would be the complete guy for the show. Also if you guys don't know Buckethead had 10 Guitars stolen and needs a couple Gibson Studio Les Pauls. Maybe you guys could help him out? He definitely made me jump board on the Gibson train along with others.
What a great show! I just saw Carcass post on Instagram of this series, I am so happy you featured Bill Steer. He is so talented and a monster guitarist. I have known him for years, I admire him as a person and metal legend.
Carcass are blowing me away. I remember a buddy of mine lent me a Carcass tape in JR high, it was sick, tunes about all sorts of crazy shit. Decrepitating bowel erosion? What? Anyhow just last year I stumbled upon HEARTWORK. I'm a little late to what's happening, but glad I could catch up. Amazing guitar work. The new CD is blazing through my skull as well.
I love how Bill Steer explains the evolution of Carcass from their primitive beginnings to a more cultured beast. Makes perfect sense and is only reassuring to us, longtime, hardcore Carcass fans, e.g., we knew it all along, "Swansong" versus the record label, band having run its natural course at that time, but should also help understand the band's musical development for those who are perhaps not as familiar with Carcass and/or may have been disheartened by the evolution (again, "Swansong" - which in my opinion is still great, classic Carcass; more genius riffs on that album than most bands can come up with in a lifetime!). What a gem of a guitarist and a human being. What albums - all different, all great!! What a band! Thank you, Mr. Steer. Thank you, Carcass!🤘
One of the coolest things you guys have done is brought back "The Art of The Letter". Everybody should know the proper way to say "thank you" or send gracious greetings, is by writing a letter. Love the video and Robert Englund, one of my favorite childhood characters. Very happy to see this!
Really amazing to see Bill in here. Severely underrated in my opinion, his pioneering work in both Carcass & Napalm Death speaks for itself. A monster guitarist!!
Fuck yeah. Bill was the spark that lit my fire when I was 13 all the way back in 1991. His Napalm material along with "Reek" and Carcass "Peel Sessions" were part of my musical bedrock.
Always great to hear from the great Robert Englund. He is indeed a living horror icon. A great video pairing him with metal music. It’s not that far fetched to assume we horror nuts are also metal maniacs. 🤘🏽
Great show! My inner 13 year old thoroughly enjoyed it! I mean, i was literally 13 when the movie and Dokken album came out and i was very much into both. The throwback commercials were a nice touch, as well.
Incredibly executed show. The segments, the guests, the editing and direction…great content overall! PERFECT show for metal x horror fans. And kudos for the nice touch of the red and green lighting!! The theater is gorgeous too. Really great choice there. Love the comment about dreaming about what you want to do and align dreams with what you do well. That is so so so true. And Count D’s point about not being ashamed of what you love…hell yeah!
Wow, does this show scratch an itch for me! Heavy metal and horror movies are twin passions for me…great job, Gibson. I will definitely be watching future episodes.
You had me hooked the minute I heard Electric Crown playing through the beginning!! This is is some seriously good content. Don is class act as always..
Thanks for the ad from my teen years record shop (with Todd Michael Hall in it), Heavy Metal Unlimited, Saginaw, MI...Had to double check what I was watching. Surprised to see that on here, too say the least 😆🤘

Was the glove you had the real metal glove or was it you know a plastic glove that had metal you know blades on it that weren't Sharp. What was it like to meet Patricia arquette again and did Don meet Patricia and the rest of band meet her as well. Also did you know that this was the very first music video on a VHS tape that featured a video music video which was very interesting history. And there's maybe more questions I'd ask Robert and Don but you know those are just digestive it you know cuz I wouldn't want to you know take their time cuz I know there's beyond busy they're more popular than anything on the planet right now and they deserve to be cuz they are horror and music icon Legends Oh yeah the one question I would ask Don by the way is what was George thought basically I'm making that skull guitar was that something that he did for the video or was that something that he's always had in his collection you know the Gibson which was incredible it's one of the coolest guitars out there you know and you know what was it like to work with you know Robert you know just the basics you know. Anyway I have to go to my doctor's this month and I'll probably have to have surgery on my foot because they have to remove a bone in my foot and I'll probably have to remove one of my finger because I've got nerve damage on my left arm because of this accident this was all caused by somebody who wants to commit suicide one night. And on December 31st 2019 at 5:45 p.m. on Bridgewater Street in Montrose in less than 5 minutes my life changed the only thing left of this guy's body was his head stuck in my window so people ask me is anything scare me and the answer is no nothing scares me after seeing that. people were right behind me left and right and I didn't even know what happened until you know after they told me I died and I was in a coma for a week and surgery for 13 and a half hours and some lady got my name on Facebook and contacted me a couple weeks later and told me what happened and told me that if he didn't hit me he probably would have killed about eight people that night cuz he didn't care so that was something I lived with the rest of my life. I'm permanently disabled because of that I can walk I can drive I'm getting back in shape now but I'll never be able to be what I was. I usually have to wear a long sleeve shirt because people make fun of my left arm and when I wear shorts they start calling me Frankenstein because of my legs so they have all scars on them both legs were cut open and they have scars kind of like that scene and dream warriors you know where Freddy you know takes that guy in the bed and uses his blade and slices his arms and outcomes his veins that's kind of what my arm my legs and my arm look like and people make fun of me all the time with it and it bothers me a lot it really does. You know I suffer from bipolarism agoraphobic sometimes and body dysmorphism so yeah and it wasn't pleasant but I just wanted to say thank you so much for the video I hope somebody reads his comments maybe they'll get back to Robert and Don and tell them that there's somebody out there who met Robert a long time ago and would just like to say thank you so much for giving him happiness and joy and the same to Don cuz you know their music I love the new album I listen to all their music I love the new album you know I mean seeing mostly everything Robert's done now thanks to internet so yeah. And that was the first time ever that I've heard Jeff pilson's version of dream warriors and I can't wait to get it cuz I'm going to get it on Amazon it's available or Spotify cuz I want to buy it cuz it's incredible anyway thank you so much for listening I'm sorry to ramble on my name and address is up in the page and yeah that's about it goodbye
The only true genre that compliments horror and that's definitely Metal (and hard rock) from Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla to Ozzy's Bark at the Moon can't wait to see more episodes 🤘🖤💀👽😈
The movie, "River's Edge" (1986) was one of the first movies to feature Heavy Metal music. That was a big deal back then with the metalheads. Hearing Slayer in a movie was awesome. "Friday the 13th... Jason Lives" (1986), had Alice Coopers song, 'The Man Behind the Mask.' Then "Nightmare... Dream warriors" was in 1987.
I'm as metal as the next guy but to be honest I got a lot more trim when I had Sade on the turntable than Megadeth... Thank you for the great episode!!! This is some great content.
Really cool show, guys! Dig the format of breaking up the episode into related segments while using the central interview as a through line - works really well and keeps it engaging. Great production values and neat little retro-inspired touches as well. Can't wait for the next instalment!
The fact that Bill Steer of Carcass is featured here is HUGE. He's been rocking those sick Double Humbucker Melody Maker's & Customs for a while! Give that man a Sig! For Modern Metal, he writes riffs better than anyone else.
My first guitar riff I learned how to play back in 1980 was Louie Louie. I was 10 years old. This is so cool to see Don Dokken speaking in this. Thanks Gibson!
Absolutely fanfuckingtastic!!! This show is basically my life! I found it through Super7’s emails and couldn’t be happier. Man, staying up late to watch Headbanger’s Ball when I was a kid, losing my shit if Can I Play With Madness came on…passing while watching whatever Slasher flick was on HBO only to wake up early and play Contra on my NES or practice Bunny Hops on a Sat morning. I’m so fuckin stoked that the spirit is still alive!!
Do you remember the Contra code for the extra 30 lives on NES? Enter Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A then Start (or Select, Start for two players) on the title screen!
@@gibsonguitar Yessir! That was actually the code for all the Konami games! I have a CastleVania tattoo on my leg and a few of those soundtracks on vinyl. That’s turning into a big thing…Have you seen the kid play the 1st level on guitar? Look up “Contra Jungle Jam on guitar” pretty sick!
Come on Bill Steer, Reek of Putrefaction does not have a small following. Some of the best Carcass riffs come from that record! Wish they played more of those songs live. Though they just don't sound the same without Ken Owen.
Does anyone else have a older friend story about how they turned you on to some kind of cool thing when you were young? It my best friends sister that showed us AC/DC and VanHalen and Mary Jane aka 420. ; )*
I can remember my brother w 4 steak knives scaring my mom coming out of the bathroom and she chased him through the house for 10 minutes...she would have beaten his ass flat if she caught him..lol
I remember my brother got dream warriors loved my favorite one for sure man just memories I loved dokken I like 6 or 7 rocking out too it's not love no clue what the song was about but man did I ever love that song I still love it in fact about hour ago I put in my play list been awhile since I heard it I'm still that kid rocking out alone to that song
Well done. What a great location. That venue has such AMAZING history, it’s totally underrated. Great interviews. Glad you didn’t use total canned questions. Never heard the demo version!!! Jeff, I knew could sing, but daaaaaymn! Carcass live is a force. Stoked to have seen them at Psycho Vegas! Dokken more variations of that band than I can count and they all were top notch! The actions figures were three decades to late for me. Guitars and classic cars have taken over :-)
That young gentleman at 3:43 that is asking for Megadeth and Slayer is Todd Michael Hall from RIOT V. That's a clip taken from a TV ad for the Heavy Metal Unlimited Store (Saginaw, MI) from 1988.
I just love what funny, down-to-earth guys Robert and Don are. I love how hip Robert is, and not just some pompous actor who pretends to know about the hip, contemporary (at the time) band also working on the film. Englund really does take the time to know people, Whether it’s costars, musicians, or even fans. GREAT INTERVIEW! 🤘
Wow...this is just simply badass. Dokken & Freddy himself . Metal & Horror always go hand to hand This pumps me up more since I just purchased my photo op with the legend Robert Englund for the Texas Frightmare in April So this show just rocks. Thank you for this awesome ness! \m/
Very cool never ever let 80s 90s die this shows gives a glimmer of hope for Gen Z I'm Gen X experienced all 80s fkn epic period in time Long live R N R!!!
Awesome episode! Loved it, I know the movie from 1988 called Black Roses didn’t do so well but that soundtrack was pretty damn good! Lizzy Borden, King Kobra, and the songs done by the band Black Roses which was mainly KK where all great!
I've finally gotten time to watch Bill's part of this video. It just reinforced my respect for carcass. Their instinct of making an effort to not repeat themselves, possibly becoming a caricature, is something to be valued. I loved the new album even better than surgical steel exactly because of what Bill explained. It plays too safe sometimes. Some purists might think it doesn't sound like old carcass but whatever. It sounds good, it sounds fresh, that's what matters to me.
This is a cool show! Great content. Loved every segment (but please do include comic books)Looking forward to seeing guests like Scott lan, kirk Hammett, Rob zombie, and Alice Cooper

And there's maybe more questions I'd ask Robert and Don but you know those are just digestive it you know cuz I wouldn't want to you know take their time cuz I know there's beyond busy they're more popular than anything on the planet right now and they deserve to be cuz they are horror and music icon Legends
Oh yeah the one question I would ask Don by the way is what was George thought basically I'm making that skull guitar was that something that he did for the video or was that something that he's always had in his collection you know the Gibson which was incredible it's one of the coolest guitars out there you know and you know what was it like to work with you know Robert you know just the basics you know.
Dude! I'm watching this about four blocks from state street in Saginaw MI. What a trip! That store was a metal head's dream!
Great job Matt Montgomery.
The only true genre that compliments horror and that's definitely Metal (and hard rock) from Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla to Ozzy's Bark at the Moon can't wait to see more episodes 🤘🖤💀👽😈
That was great. Love Dokken!
Welcome my friends, to all the metal buzzwords haha this is awsome though
The movie, "River's Edge" (1986) was one of the first movies to feature Heavy Metal music. That was a big deal back then with the metalheads.
Hearing Slayer in a movie was awesome.
"Friday the 13th... Jason Lives" (1986), had Alice Coopers song, 'The Man Behind the Mask.'
Then "Nightmare... Dream warriors" was in 1987.
We need Kirk Hammett too😎
Kudos Gibson for the awesome show,I’ve always believed metal and horror we’re a great pairing \m/
Thanks for watching TY!
The best Nightmare on Elm Street film? It’s Part 3!
I'm as metal as the next guy but to be honest I got a lot more trim when I had Sade on the turntable than Megadeth... Thank you for the great episode!!! This is some great content.
How about an episode on SHOCKER's soundtrack with Desmond Child? Would love to see that soundtrack (and movie) get more love from fans!
Great idea!!
This show is badass
Thanks Captain! Hope to see your "Fang Mail" in the Metal and Monsters P.O. Box!!!
Really cool show, guys! Dig the format of breaking up the episode into related segments while using the central interview as a through line - works really well and keeps it engaging. Great production values and neat little retro-inspired touches as well. Can't wait for the next instalment!
As one of Freddys children it was great to see this program. This was an era where the music and the movies of this horror generation was unrivalled.
The fact that Bill Steer of Carcass is featured here is HUGE. He's been rocking those sick Double Humbucker Melody Maker's & Customs for a while! Give that man a Sig! For Modern Metal, he writes riffs better than anyone else.
This is absolutely amazing just wow ! Perfect! Can't wait to watch the next one !
Brilliant show ... i can't believe you made this just for me - thanks guys!
Thanks for watching!
This is what should be on MTV... great stuff, thank you! :)
My first guitar riff I learned how to play back in 1980 was Louie Louie. I was 10 years old. This is so cool to see Don Dokken speaking in this. Thanks Gibson!
Blackie Lawless from WASP needs a action figure
Yes!!!
@@gibsonguitar lets make it happen Blackie holding the last command flag
How's Kirk Hammett not on one of these episodes? He's a Gibson ambassador AND the biggest horror fan and collector in the business!
Finally, the show of my dreams. Cheers from Brazil.
More episodes coming soon!
Seriously this is my new favorite show, does anyone know when will a new episode drop? is this a weekly show? I have to know more!
More episodes coming soon Gerardo! Make sure to send us some "Fang Mail" to the Metal and Monsters P.O. Box!

Japan knows good music. Metal is still respected & mainstream in Japan. Sadly the US has forgotten what good music is.
I'm so happy that a show like this exists!! Thank you, Gibson for caring about us Metal Heads!
Thanks so much for watching! We're looking out for metal maniacs everywhere!!!
Dear Gibson,
Please make more of these, thank you.
More episodes coming!!!
Does anyone else have a older friend story about how they turned you on to some kind of cool thing when you were young?
It my best friends sister that showed us AC/DC and VanHalen and Mary Jane aka 420. ; )*
FKN LEGENDARY.TY FOR THIS CONTENT
Count D did a pretty good job of hyping this up on Instagram without giving it away outright… this this absolutely Awesome!
Thanks for watching Russ!
It sounds bizzare but when Robert Englund retires as Freddy Krueger, I hope Corey Taylor will portray the role
I can remember my brother w 4 steak knives scaring my mom coming out of the bathroom and she chased him through the house for 10 minutes...she would have beaten his ass flat if she caught him..lol
Dokken and ANOES was a perfect fit. Still remember seeing Dream Warriors in the theater.
Could you do a show with Jeff Waters of Annihilator, now theres a band with a horror theme/sound throughout their albums.
Guitars and classic cars have taken over :-)
Why is Annihilator hardly mentioned on RUclips.
Greatest metal band ever imo!
Man, that's really cool! Awesome !
I have a huge Metal and Horror magazine collection. Famous Monsters is the king.
Metal or rock always come together with horror movies. Freddy Krueger was one of my favourite actors beeing a teenager then.
That young gentleman at 3:43 that is asking for Megadeth and Slayer is Todd Michael Hall from RIOT V. That's a clip taken from a TV ad for the Heavy Metal Unlimited Store (Saginaw, MI) from 1988.
Heartwork is a masterpiece as far as metal is concerned...just my opinion
Great bit on Super 7. I'm afraid to start collecting them. I won't be able to stop.
Such a fire series, love for action figs, carcass, and hosts fav band is megadeth, ya I’m in
I just love what funny, down-to-earth guys Robert and Don are. I love how hip Robert is, and not just some pompous actor who pretends to know about the hip, contemporary (at the time) band also working on the film. Englund really does take the time to know people, Whether it’s costars, musicians, or even fans. GREAT INTERVIEW! 🤘
I seen Dream Warriors in the theater with my dad. One of the greatest memories I have with my dad
Wow...this is just simply badass. Dokken & Freddy himself . Metal & Horror always go hand to hand
This pumps me up more since I just purchased my photo op with the legend Robert Englund for the Texas Frightmare in April
So this show just rocks.
Thank you for this awesome ness!
\m/
Enjoy Texas Frightmare!!!
I wish I could go back to those time's, they where so much better than the 21st Century!
Very cool never ever let 80s 90s die this shows gives a glimmer of hope for Gen Z I'm Gen X experienced all 80s fkn epic period in time Long live R N R!!!
Great show! Loved every bit of it!
Carcass, wow! Best guitar tone/sound imo, seen 'em late 80s!
Patricia Arquette sighting 34:58
🤘🏼
I love this show, is awesome I algo grew up watching horror movies and loving metal and Robert will be always one of my favorite actors of all time.
Awesome episode! Loved it, I know the movie from 1988 called Black Roses didn’t do so well but that soundtrack was pretty damn good! Lizzy Borden, King Kobra, and the songs done by the band Black Roses which was mainly KK where all great!
Great show!!! Looking forward to episode 2. 🙏
Thanks for watching!
super7 rules... keep them figure cardbacks unpunched!
Good show. I started it not knowing what it was at all, thinking ill probably stop it in 5 minutes and found myself watching the entire show. Loved every segment of it! Need more!
Thanks for watching! More episodes coming soon!
I love those background photos from the music video!
The SG Jr and Explorer are some of the most evil scary looking guitars ever !
Yup Megadeth ❤️🏴❤️
Damn testament in the background fuck yeah
What's your favorite Testament album???
Whoa! Totally unexpected! Thank you so much for this episode! Carcass rules! :)
What's your favorite Carcass album???
this series is awesome! Please keep it going
What an awesome new show!
\../ Rock The Fuck On \../
CARCASS and Robert England. Great video.
Can't help but stare at Robert Englund's right hand lol.
