Man.. takes me back! What great collaboration of musicians. To think Ozzy passed on George Lynch looking for a guitarist after Randy passed. Which I'm a huge fan of Jake E. Lee. A time when musicians still played instruments. There still talent out there, but the music, should say industry, lost its way. Technology has played a big part as well, in shaping where we are today. Back for the Attack is 30 years old!! Insane.
Dokken is the best band out of the 80s and in my heart of all time... I'm only 17 and still feel like I'm one of the biggest fans around. Wish I could grow up in the 80s, sucks that most young people can't appreciate good music and blast shit rappers instead of the dokkens, van halens, ratts, Zeppelins, iron maidens etc.
Don't wish your life away (my grandmother used to tell me this), I was a teenager in 80s, graduated in 84 (I'm 53 now). You can still listen to all the great music and you have better, higher quality sound systems to hear it!
I was an 80’s person too it was a awesome time. I graduated in 85. This was the best time of my life and didn’t know it. I miss those days and I really miss the people who is no longer here with me.
One of the most overlooked album in Don Dokken's back catalog. Great album, production wise, musicianship, and of course great songs. A classic in my opinion.

“Up From The Ashes” was one of the first CD’s I ever bought. I was 14 years old and saw this video on TV. As soon as the video was over, I immediately walked to the local music store and got the album. I used to blast it on my headphones while playing Golden Axe on my Sega Genesis. Good times!
I just got my copy on eBay last week. Been a Dokken fan for years and yeah, I played Golden Axe too when it came out. Just watched a walkthrough. I didn’t remember how good the soundtrack is!
I was 19 and just got to USAF technical training school in Biloxi nov 90. Bought my first CD boom box. Queensryche Empire, Dokken Up from the Ashes, and The Cure Mixed Up CDs.

Yep. All those record labels saw how well this band was put together (an all-star at every position) and freaked the hell out, said "no more" and yanked everybody back. Damn shame. Glad to see Mikkey Dee in Scorpions now. Awesome.
I just love to see all of the positive comments posted here on this recording. I was a huge Dokken fan from the first recording saw them live numerous times. And when this came out played it constantly. And still listen to it . It is great to know that there are still people out there who can appreciate good quality polished hard rock music with great vocals and excellent instrumentation.
From start to finish it's a fabulous album. Not a weak tune, wonderful vocals and guitars, flawless solos and grantine rhthym section. A must have for all rockers who love's 80's & 90's. Best solo work of Don.

Don is responsible for that Dokken sound, not George. Lynch Mob sounded like a whole new band, and this album sounded like a new Dokken album at the time. I still imagine George, Jeff Don and Mick playing these songs when I listen to Up From The Ashes to this day.
I’m only 15 and all I can say is I’m a drummer and the 80’s rock and metal influenced me so much there isn’t a day where I don’t listen to at least one 80’s rock or metal album
#UpFromTheAshes is the best #Dokken record ever made. This is one of those albums that you listen to from beginning to end. There is not a bad song on this record. Like so many have already said, the #guitarwork on this album is #stunning. The stars aligned for this album and they're never be another Dokken record this good.

Still rokken with dokken after all these years!

Don never sounded or looked better than he did here with this group of guys,he was relaxed and doing his thing,but he was a very happy soul when I saw him in germany in the mid 80's,the original band was clicking back then and they were shooting stars.

Just seen dokken in bay city and he was absolutely awesome! We so appreciate his commitment to his fans. At 70 years old and the health issues he’s had none of us would be doing it. Thank you don!
A TOTALLY underrated album - I bought the cassette the day it came out in 1990. Don't get me wrong - Lynch Mob is good too - but I like Don Dokken's way of making every song on the down beat - just like real life.
Billy White was great. I read an interview where he said playing this music was "too easy," so, he moved on and was never heard again. I wish I could play like that and claim it was too easy.
Saw them live back in the day in a small club in San Francisco..John Norums solos were incredible. The guy tears it up. His tone and volume blew everyone in the place away. These videos pale in comparison to what they were capable to do live. Don's voice was spot on and he played quite a bit of rhythm guitar.

A TOTALLY underrated album - I bought the cassette the day it came out in 1990. Don't get me wrong - Lynch Mob is good too - but I like Don Dokken's way of making every song on the down beat - just like real life.

Billy White was great. I read an interview where he said playing this music was "too easy," so, he moved on and was never heard again. I wish I could play like that and claim it was too easy.
He was such a great guitarist, he has a great talent! sadly we don't know more from him

Saw them live back in the day in a small club in San Francisco..John Norums solos were incredible. The guy tears it up. His tone and volume blew everyone in the place away. These videos pale in comparison to what they were capable to do live. Don's voice was spot on and he played quite a bit of rhythm guitar.
