Vol'jin and Rexxar have the be my two favorite people in all of Warcraft lore. I want to start reading more of the books, but I don't think I have the time. Thank you for these videos so I can at least expand my knowledge =D
Sylvanas offered a home and a place in the world for those Forsaken. Free from Arthas his grasp they could no longer return to their people and it was Sylvanas who stepped up. She is now their queen. She doesn't kill herself because she already tried in the short story. As she did, she ended up in hell and she made her pact with the valkyr. Now all she wants to do is delay that inevitable torment that awaits her in the afterlife. As Arthas said before her "I intend to live forever".
Vol'Jin was not assassinated. this would mean he was killed. The correct way to say it would be, Garrosh tried to have Voljin assassinated, or there was a failed assassination attempt .
Tomorrow I'll release a video with speculation on the next expansion. After that I'll make a couple more lore videos with pieces of the puzzle and then I'll make a video on what could be the possible story...so it's on the way!

It could be because Baine is still dealing with stepping into his fathers shoes. He died pretty sudden and afterwards Baine had to do all he could to keep his own people from walking away.
Am i the only one who thinks demon hunters and shadow hunters are similiar? They wear light armors, fight with glaives and use dark magic. They could be combined into a single class, and have demon / shadow specs,
For anyone wondering about this, they're basically Shadow Priests with a little bit of Survival Hunter mixed in. Priests are spiritual leaders of their people and communicating with the shadowy Loa is something only Shadow Priests would do. Since Legion blizz has decided Survival Hunters are the Headhunter class now, previously headhunters were perfectly represented in-game by Combat Rogues but now they've decided they're pirates instead.
Very very good. you've yet to disappoint. I was planning on adding about the importance of the Loa showing Vol'jin that to the Loa all those with a tenacious spirit are trolls ...but then you mentioned it in the last. Cus that is the most significant reason why Vol'jin fights for the Horde. As a shadow hunter (I.e. Chaos Paladin) he has to do what is best for the Trolls, but the tenacious members of the Horde are Trolls, too. Thus he must protect them.
on a side note - it's rly nice of you to answer the questions in the comments, you are a really nice guy and very entertaining to listen to) I've stopped playing WoW after WotLK and never cared much for the overall lore of Warcraft but your vids were too intertesting to pass by. You can google for the chronological order which I believe starts with the well of eternit trilogy. I still need to read that book myself, once I finish Stormrage. I love the novels that tell the story of the start of the war between Horde and Alliance so that means: Rise of the Horde - The Last Guardian - Tides of Darkness - Beyond the Dark Portal. After that I would go with Lord of the Clans which tells about how Thrall started the new Horde.
The assasination of Vol'jin is still in the game, scenario called "Dagger in the Dark". The training of Vol'jin in the monastery I made myself with WoW Modelviewer.
Rumor has it that the movie is going to be around the first or second war, which I think is great. WoW that we all play today has been build on that story. Horde vs Alliance, show everyone how it got started. They could also do all the events from Warcraft 3. Those are great stories, but it would be all over the place.
Hey Nobbel, you know, there is hardly any lore vids about the Troll tribes around. As a huge Troll fan, it would be great if someone would be so kind as to do a kick ass lore video on the Troll tribes (their cultural belief, who the tribes are, etc).
There are some major ones. Zandalari Amani Gurubashi Darkspear Drakkari And MANY other smaller troll tribes who don't have much to do with the lore as far as I know.
Anytime and once you're done with those you can pretty much move in any direction you want. Funny thing is, Day of the Dragon was also my first WoW novel ^_^

Nobbel, you have pretty much convinced me to go get this book, and maybe some others that have come before it, but this one in particular. I've been playing since Warcraft 2, hell 2 was my frist RTS, and Warcraft 3 I still play from time to time to this day! One of my absolute favorite parts of 3 was the Orc Bonus Campaign in TFT, where I met Vol'jin, Rexxar, and Chen. I loved that campaign and the thought of Chen and Vol doing battle together again is enough to make me take a look. Thank you :D
What class is Vol'jin? Most categorise him into Shadow Hunter, but what does that mean? What is his main weapon? We saw him with bow and some glaives. He threatened Garrosh that his "arrow will pierce his black heart". He doesn't have a pet like Rexxar, and he wasn't used in Hearthtone as the Hunter, despite being far more popular than Rexxar and actually using bow and arrows unlike Rexxar. He also seem to have magic, though I don't know what sort. In WC3 he could transform the heroes into Spirit Wyverns and use spells that now belong to shaman. But unlike Thrall, he prefers to use his weapons. Is Shadow Hunter a mixture of Hunter and Shaman?
In Warcraft 3 a Shadow hunter have Healing wave, Hexx, Serpent ward (summon ) and Locust Swarm. So he would be Witch Doctor from Diablo 3. If you can make anything of out this.
Only the Shadow Hunter of the WC3 Campaign, Rokhan, had Locust Swarm instead of BBV. Similar to how Rexxar had some throwing ability instead of Summon Hawk despite being a Beastmaster. Regardless, I was curious about where are Shadow Hunters categorised, In the comics, it is clearly stated that a Guardian can use all types of magic and they get a user of each magic type to form the new Council of Tirisfal (shaman, mage, druid, paladin, priest). And this sort of shadow voodoo magic is never acknowledged. Like it wasn't part of Azeroth. The only other similar magic type is the warlock, but that is clearly an "outside of Azeroth" type of magic. Is voodoo coming from other worlds as well?

as the others already said; voljin has shaman skills, but most of the time in WoW hes called a hunter, since many characters dont really have a "WoW class spec", like prot pally or such, fe rexxar (melee bm hunter, w/some fury spells) you cant say that for him too. healing wave and hexx are shaman spells, so itd say hes a mix between hunter and shaman (aint no warri/druid/mage/pally/monk/dk/rog thats for sure; wl is not voljins style, hes too "nice" to be a wl, and we never saw any spell from him, aswell as priest, he doesnt even wear the right things for that) so id say shamanhunter, maybe one day, if blizz runs outta ideas well get a questline regarding classes/specs of certain heroes xD
Horde is so very misrepresented when choosing faction when lvling a panda, they have honor as well.. and im sure allies have been quite the monsters themselfs at some point :P
Personally I feel like it's quite the opposite. The horde that you encounter on the wandering isles were prisoners to the alliance, and while ji's plan was dangerous, IT WORKED. In my opinion it feels more weighted in the horde's favor.
The descriptions in that dialogue window is probably closer to how both factions would present themselves on a businesscard. The Aliance would probably push values, the Horde 'Don't mess with us!'. In truth, both sides have badass people in them.
if you've played warcraft 3, you can actually understand that it is garrosh and grom... are felorcs, they've used to be slaves to the great o mannoroth and so on and mannoroth is a corrupted, beast... even thou Thrall and Grom confronted mannoroth he's power of mindcontroll still remains inside most orcs from burning legion... and what i think right now is that Garrosh is from burning legion... that's why you can see Thrall being very calm compared to Garrosh...

Loved the cinematic and well...they had to. What kind of a story would it make to send both the Alliance and the Horde after Garrosh if he wouldn't be all powerfull! Also, in the meantime taran zhu got his ass kicked on the isle of thunder. If you want to give it an lore explanation...he was still recovering from his near death experience.

Just finished the audio book today. It was fantastic. I personally say anyone who has doubt of Vol'jin's duties as the new Warchief, this book shows the knowledge and capabilities he possess in order to take the mantle.
Yeah i new when i wrote that message it was stupid, i know very little about WoW so been spending most of my free time lately to catch up on everything and the stories about everything. but these videos are helping me a lil.
Only a very select few can become shadow hunters, others simply go mad so lorewise it wouldn't make sense. Then again...we do have Forsaken who use holy light and Taurens who can become paladins...
This book was definitely one of my favorites, though Lord of the Clans I think still holds a special place in my heart. I have waited forever for Vol'Jin to have a book and I was not disappointed. I was wondering if Tyrathan did exist before the book, but since it looked like you took screen caps of a personalized character I am gonna guess he will be made into an NPC later on, perhaps even in the upcoming patch.

I agree, Blizzard really seems to be putting a lot of effort into trying to end the war between Alliance and Horde. And the PvP part is always solvable.
After the Rise of the Zandalari patch there were many speculations about why the Zandalari, who had been aiding us against Hakkar in vanilla and the Drakkari in wrath, suddenly wanted to unite the troll empire. It is actually revealed in Pandaria. Zuldazar, the Zandalari capital, was destroyed during the cataclysm. The Dark Prophet Zul rallied the survivors and held the meeting we saw in the Rise of the Zandalari trailer.
In regards to Taurens, the explanation they came up with is I think rather good. The Sunwalkers believe in various spirits of nature, and An'She the spirit of the sun is like their "interpretation" of the Holy Light. So although not part of the traditional holy order, they draw a similar power. Its interesting to me because it suggests a lot of these classes, despite different beliefs, draw the same powers like how Night Elf priests believe their power comes from Ellune.
could work. would be fun if blizz remembered the times when horde had shamans and allies had paladins only, and add something like shadows hunters for horde and demon hunters for alliance.

Me too. He does seem to stress the 'ragtag bunch of misfits struggling forward together' aspect, which was always what I liked about the Horde, and what Garrosh has been massively ruining. Vol'jin's badass, he's pragmatic, but he's also sensible. So yeah.

It depends on the book. For example, Stormrage that I'm currently reading builds a lot on the war of the ancients, this book can be read on his own.

think you can make a lore story about Ahn'quiraj? if the themple had an owner before the quiraji were sealed in?
Only a very select few can become shadow hunters, others simply go mad so lorewise it wouldn't make sense. Then again...we do have Forsaken who use holy light and Taurens who can become paladins...

This book was definitely one of my favorites, though Lord of the Clans I think still holds a special place in my heart. I have waited forever for Vol'Jin to have a book and I was not disappointed. I was wondering if Tyrathan did exist before the book, but since it looked like you took screen caps of a personalized character I am gonna guess he will be made into an NPC later on, perhaps even in the upcoming patch.

Im new to the story (lore) of warcraft but have always been interested in the trolls. Do you think you can make a video about the lore of the trolls from the beginning to present?
Here is a minor thing that I can tell you about Trolls they're blood thirsty savages that tried to kill all the blood elves and humans for land, of course the blood elves were still high elves at that time

I agree, Blizzard really seems to be putting a lot of effort into trying to end the war between Alliance and Horde. And the PvP part is always solvable.
After the Rise of the Zandalari patch there were many speculations about why the Zandalari, who had been aiding us against Hakkar in vanilla and the Drakkari in wrath, suddenly wanted to unite the troll empire. It is actually revealed in Pandaria. Zuldazar, the Zandalari capital, was destroyed during the cataclysm. The Dark Prophet Zul rallied the survivors and held the meeting we saw in the Rise of the Zandalari trailer.
She claimed it in Warcraft 3. Might = Right in the World of Warcraft otherwise most of the land would be troll land by right.

In regards to Taurens, the explanation they came up with is I think rather good. The Sunwalkers believe in various spirits of nature, and An'She the spirit of the sun is like their "interpretation" of the Holy Light. So although not part of the traditional holy order, they draw a similar power. Its interesting to me because it suggests a lot of these classes, despite different beliefs, draw the same powers like how Night Elf priests believe their power comes from Ellune.

could work. would be fun if blizz remembered the times when horde had shamans and allies had paladins only, and add something like shadows hunters for horde and demon hunters for alliance.

Me too. He does seem to stress the 'ragtag bunch of misfits struggling forward together' aspect, which was always what I liked about the Horde, and what Garrosh has been massively ruining.
Vol'jin's badass, he's pragmatic, but he's also sensible. So yeah.
