    Oralia does an excellent job of helping women to take pride and love themselves, no matter your size.
    I myself struggle with weight as an older woman with health issues. Oralia is a breath of fresh air. I dont dress as much like her but have learned some invaluable tips and some self confidence! I cannt afford some of the fashions or accesories but i can shop around for better value and create my own look that i can love!

    I am getting so tired of fast, trendy cheap material made fashion. I would love to see you do a video on old money style for Apple shape petite body. Featuring high end quality fashion in natural fibers of cotton, wool, linen and silk. This would be great in helping to guide one on building a curated closet of only the best.

      @@Oralia_Martinez love your video. I want to do quiet luxury as well but a lot of these pieces come off as preppy. I personally just don’t look or feel good in preppy clothes. I come from a goth raver background. While I’m not running around in white face paint or neon rave anymore - is it possible to do quiet luxury that has more of an alternative / hard edginess to it ? Thanks 🙏

    • @Oralia_Martinez
      @Oralia_Martinez  3 месяца назад +2

      @indigodande4345 Yes! Make sure that what you’re picking up has quality, is minimal but has edge to match your punk/goth style. So maybe accessories with hardware, or that lean more rock/punk mixed with clean, minimal pieces. Also your hair can be an edgy avant- garde style. It’s really all about the contrast between the classic/minimal and hard/edgy in your outfit. And you can have pops of color - a lip, a shoe, a belt, etc.

    • @IAmPhasion
      @IAmPhasion Месяц назад

      @@indigodande4345 maybe some doc marten boots, get your edgy look from your accessories a nice red lip and some black jeans, or faded wash black gray even skirts and dresses you can definitely keep your goth look and look like quiet wealth

    I REALLY enjoyed this video. I've been a bit overwhelmed with this topic popping up on my feed (both IG and YT) but your explanations were succinct and easy to digest - "Old money isn't looking for show what they have, b/c they've had it for a while. It's nothing 'new' and therefore nothing to show off." That is SO true! Whenever you've had something for a while (or grew up with it) it's luster (not value, just luster) tends to lose its gloss with you. That doesn't mean you don't enjoy it as much, but it's gone from something you covet to something that's now apart of your everyday lifestyle. Big aha moment for me - thank you ma'am!

  • @oldmama8929
    @oldmama8929 Год назад +18

    Old money is not minimalist, it's heritage/tradition driven. Minimalist rarely wear patterns, and can have bold silhouettes. While old money has tweeds, checks, floral and heritage prints in simple, well cut silhouettes. Quiet luxury is new items that are expensive. Old money is having the same items of quality (not necessarily expensive ) that lasts for decades. You can tell quiet luxury from old money by the furniture. If it's new, it's quiet luxury. If it was old and inherited, it's old money.

      Also, within Old Money there are also different aesthetics depending on the person, place, season, etc. There is the preppy / academic look, the hunting inspired look, the yachting / boating look for summer especially, what I would call the British colonial look (definitely more colourful as inspired by India), the country lady look, etc.

    Outside of clothes, what do people do now? sell all their designer bags? I love scarves, but I live in Florida and it gets hot. I like the way you explained this. It's very palatable, when others talk about this Quiet Luxury comes across insulting to people who buy logo bags like Channel, LV, Dior, YSL etc. handbags. It's as though you should feel ashamed of owning these bags.

    • @Oralia_Martinez
      @Oralia_Martinez  Год назад +2

      Yeah, some bring it across that way. It’s a style choice, really. If you love it, wear it. The joy of how it makes you feel will come through and it’s really all about how you feel about yourself that matters. No one else’s opinion should take that away from you. 😉💕

    You can never spot an aristocrat in this country by their clothes, particularly men. They tend to wear clothes they’ve had for years ( if they’ve kept their figure ). Very often wearing their father’s blazers and overcoats. Always classic shapes and colours. The ladies of course are a very different thing. Still classic pieces that will not date.

  • @Ingrid0410

    I think you would look very pretty in a red dress and dresses and skirts. Just because the classic “old money” style is there, doesn’t mean everyone looks good in it Oralia. Trousers, button downs are not attractive on plus sizes. Beautiful draping pants and tops are.

    • @laulutar
      @laulutar 2 месяца назад

      @@Ingrid0410 I think it depends on a person's build, not just their size. I wear a US size 20 or 22, and if the shapes are right (for my frame) trousers and button downs can work.

    It’s more difficult for an American to understand quiet luxury or where it is traditionally found.
    British aristocracy have always thought it wrong to waste and foolish to flaunt wealth. They shop once a season largely only for that which needs replaced. They buy very well made clothes of quality fabrics so that they last for decades. They wear neutrals so that they get their wear from them, nobody notices you wore those same few outfits last year. It’s easy to dress and travel and be suitable for all occasions. The saved money accumulates.
    Other intelligent wealthy people and others see the wisdom and visual appeal in this approach.

    I say look the best that you can but you will never look chic being overweight, the two just don't go together. Hair, skin, teeth and physique are the basic components of looking high class. As a sidenote (not trying to be rude or funny) but it's important to have impeccable oral hygiene (at least in the US) and you should have your teeth cleaned and tartar removed on your front teeth; then keep up a strict flossing regimen to keep it from coming back. Problematic hygiene/grooming are a tell tale sign of being lower class. Lots of upper class girls have a grunge/coachella aesthetic but their hair, highlights, skin and oral care will still be on point.

    • @Oralia_Martinez

      Clearly you do not know history. Obsession with being thin is a modern thing and was not always considered desirable. Just look at painting by the Old Masters.
      Secondly, Oralia is talking about a fashion aesthetic here. Nobody is going to think you are old money just because you wear a blazer. Especially not with that attitude. Rudeness is considered lower class. Old money is never rude or disrespectful
