I sit here with my 7 year old son watching this video, to get him interested in 3D printing maybe to soon but the information you give is very good and happy to learn something new.
I run a small CNC machine shop and 3D printing might be a good place for my son to start not that i have any wish for him to take over where i finished but it helps him to broaden his mind.
I really enjoy watching your videos while my R2 is slowly printing on my Ender 3 Pro. Thanks for sharing!
It's really incredible how quickly this tech is moving....that bust of Luke is so impressive!
I got my CR 10 and it is by far the best 3d printer I have ever had.
I am 3d printing my R2 D2 parts for my full scale R2 D2 robot!
David Mc can it handle alot of printing without problems?
David Mc you're wasting your time
I like to print 3d floor plans of houses. We all have our vices I suppose
That's awesome! Post the finished results!
Yes. Nerdiness is the best.
It took me awhile to get the hang of printing with abs. The corners would curl up every time.I started using a slurry of abs dissolved in acetone and painted a thin layer on the glass. every print has been perfect since. Love this printer .
The Falcon looks fantastic, time to start saving my penny's
I just received my CR-10 about 2 days ago and this was a great source of information for me! thank you so much!
+Evan Deaton Glad to hear it!
After seeing your video I pulled the trigger and placed an order with GearBest. Been dragging my heals but I couldn't beat the deal from them.. THANKS..
Too funny. I've been thinking about getting this printer for the last couple months. Every youtuber I watch seems to really like it. Been pricing it at gearbest and banggood and the best price was $396 at banggood but it was a preorder so it wouldn't ship for a couple weeks. Now your review REALLY makes me want to buy one lol.
$530 on amazon. you will have it in 2 days.
Just ordered my CR-10s from amazon. It is in fact my first printer but I am a tinkerer and find joy in optimizing the function of things by my own means. That being said, I’ll still need help and guidance, but I am very excited. Thanks for the video!
Congrats & good luck. I think as long as you have the right mindset (and it sounds like you do) the CR-10 is a fine first printer.
Wow! That Falcon despite not being accurate is still amazing! That Mark Hamill Bust is Great! Is I want a Printer!
Best
I got my CR-10 yesterday and have been printing like crazy. Your video convinced me to take a shot at the CR-10 as my first printer and I'm not disappointed (other than my edits to the heat bed cable mod that turned out functional but ugly). Currently printing a 6 inch Bobba Fett found on thingiverse.com, my first long print (12 hours).
The CR-10 is awesome! it assembled so easy and printed gcode, or dicapacat, flawlessly. I have printed the bed warmer strain relief and the filament holder with great results. After Bobba I am going to try the fillenium Malcolm as a birthday present for my star wars loving kid!
Thanks for convincing me that the CR-10 is the printer I needed (and desperately wanted)!
That's good to hear! I still think the CR-10 and its variants are probably the best value out there.
Little tip that will change your life. Take the springs of the bed. Get spacers and make the bed non-adjustable. Your prints will thank you for it.
Thank you for the coupon code! The CR-10 will be my first printer so it saved some money to get some filament.
Good first look and uses of the CR10, even though I am building my large format I have considered this one and may still need to. Must say I couldn't keep my eyes off your shelf on the left! Now I'm off to watch that vid.
Very nice. Any chance Mighty Jabba's Collection will print out a Rancor in any scale and then paint it? That would be awesome to see.
Great video, the CR-10 looks top notch and those prints came out wonderfully! The CR-10 looks great, wish I had the space for one though even if I did I wouldn't have the space to hold everything I made with it.
Impressed with the overall video - style and content easy going, informative. Keep it up.
Now I HAVE to purchase the CR-10. Next up, start to learn the in's and outs.
Great video. I am thinking of buying the CR-10S in the spring. I think the increase in price is worth it for such a respected printer.
Awesome prints! I think the gosthing is caused because of your table, is not stable enough
Just bought, I guess a clone of the Creality CR-10, which is the Aibecy CR-10 3D Printer. Hopefully it is just as good as the original.
I extended some of the cables and extended legs so I can put the control box under the CR-10 and put a spool holder on top. That's how to put it the Creality in a smaller space.
the speed of the movement of the extruder while its printing,if you do not have a sturdy take it messes a lot up.had mine on a light plastic picnic table.
I bet 10 dolllars that the printer took shorter to build than the Ikea table
That's not too far off!
Mighty Jabba's Collection what is the footprint of the whole unit. What kind of space do I need to have
I saw this video last night and it was the final nail in the coffin. I just clicked the order button. I've got a Prusa i3 X from Geeetech that I've had all sorts of issues with (bent rods, warped beds). I've seen many makers showcasing the CR-10 and figured it will make a fine addition to my tool collection!
I hope it works out well for you!
Well, I got my CR-10 about a month after I posted my original comment. Since then, I've been printing like crazy with it! I've got a few time lapse videos that I still need to edit and post to my channel!
Jonathan Foster Good to hear it’s working out for you!
Mighty Jabba's Collection Thanks! We may spring for one of the larger models soon, too, to recreate larger pieces of armor for some of our cosplay friends too.
Thank you for sharing. Wanted to ask if the CR10 resumes printing if you run out of filament? Also if it has the option to resume print if the power cuts off? Many thanks and amazing prints with your CR10👍🏼
Impressive prints!! Just picked up a used CR-10, and after many MANY hours or working out the bugs, finally have a print that actually stuck to the build plate! I know this is an older video, but any idea what your setting for those prints were? That bust was really amazing!
You think you would be able to resize that luke head and make an ultimate luke head for, say, a black series figure?
damn this video was awesome, I loved seeing all of your 3D printed models on the shelves and I cant wait for more videos of you printing stuff. Also do you plan to paint the millennium falcon? cause id love to see that!
I probably won't paint the falcon because I already have some realistically painted falcon models (including the studio scale model from Master Replicas). So I'd rather keep it as an example of a huge 3D print.
a good tip i got was "add support structure as tall accident prone prints get taller and taller
I would like to see you paint that Luke bust, it would look awesome
My cr10 came with a baby alien ghost loaded in... Still have that first print!
If you want to print the Fillenium Malcon even larger, I've uploaded a remix of it to Thingiverse that has it sectioned into 7 parts with locating pins.
Link please :)
i cant find it on thingiverse could you please provide a link
i couldnt find his but i found this www.thingiverse.com/thing:2021023
That line you had with the r2 is a layer shift I think.
Thank you for the video, you the best. Very very very great tutorial A+A+A+A+A+. You all the great possibilities of this printer.
What makes your passion for Jabba so strong?
that is my Jabba the Hut model in the intro
+john bryant Thanks for putting it on Thingiverse. Although the one in the introduced is the smoothed out version I posted
Mighty Jabba's Collection you did a good job painting it. I remembered seeing that some one had smoothed it
Excellent Video! Very Focused and Informative.
I plan on getting the s5 version and printing the rancor skull as big as it will go and putting it on the wall as a "trophy".
+Chris Pomianek That sounds awesome although it would take a looong time
Mighty Jabba's Collection yeah I had a feeling it would!
Very interested in the CR-10 to build geometric objects from an STL file up to about 15". I noticed you print different artwork. How do you create a file for non-geometric objects like horses, helmets etc?
That is amazing looking! Great job!
How much for the small millenium falcon?
Awesome. Subbed.
Great Video! amazing printer and I'm really surprised of the quality prints you are getting out of this thing. I recently bought the Prusa i3 MK2s and love it, but I was bummed when I couldn't print large prints like yours. By the way I just printed the Millennium Falcon on my printer on .1mm layer height at slow speed and I still got the banding like you did. I really think the banding is due to the model and not your printer. I'll be looking at getting this printer to just print the larger things I can't do on my Prusa.
loving this
oh my god. Already pure to get me a millennium falcon of this size, I want this printer so bad :)
Hi. I took the glass that came with the cr-10 and scuffed it up with some 320 grit sandpaper. It sticks to that without any issues.
I like to see you use your CR-10 print Hogwarts Castle and make it the size you printed the second Millennium Falcon or taller if you're up for it.
Hello, I have a Creality CR-10S Printer that I can't get to print. The z Axis goes up and down when homing but won't When Printing. It just stays on the first layer. Is this a printer problem or am i doing something wrong in Cura ?
A guy I am in a FB star Wars group with Just bought one and is working on the Hovertanks in 6 in scale for Black Series figs. It is a WAY better printer than the one he had.
Sounds very cool!
very nice Fillennium Malcon
Wow! You used the cr10? At 100% scale or you adjusted it? Thanks
Time for me to get a 3d printer.
Really thinking about getting this :) have you done an update on this?
Hello! How much does millenium falcon weigh? How much filament went to him?
LOL also with me the "decapitated cat"
What program are you slicing with? Cura? Slic3r? Simplify3D? What settings? I just got my CR-10 and have a couple successful prints, but they were off of the SD that was included. I used Notepad++ to edit the bed heat to 70c since I have a room which is a bit cooler than most and all was well.
I really liked the video. keep up the nice work.
+Kyle Taylor I use Simplify3D with a modified version of Chris Elkin’s profile that you can get from the Facebook group. Generally I use 0.24 or 0.32 layer height since anything lower takes forever.
Is there anyway to make a perfect circle with out artifacting?
Hello. Awesome video!!
Was trying to find a way to get in touch with you, I want to buy that millennium falcon the big one you printed. Get in touch with me please, thanks!
Where can I get the R2D2 shown in the video? I clicked on the thingiverse link and it's broken.
is there a way to make the detail quality better?
Great review, I am considering this printer, it will be another tool in my woodshop, go you know of a cover or do you keep yours in a regular living space
I have mine in the basement out in the open. I know a lot of people have built enclosures and the like, and that's basically a must for printing something like ABS. But I don't think there are any commercially available enclosures.
Hi, how much filament did u used für the small and the big Jabba?
I plan to be buying a creality cr10 s4 very soon. I want to printer pumpkins with "carved" designs I wouldn't have a hope of doing myself. What software/program for design would you recommend? Thanks!
Well honestly I’m not sure about pumpkins but if you have no experience with 3D design you could start with something like TinkerCAD. Then maybe move up to something else if it doesn’t do what you need
@@MightyJabbasCollection I mean, the designs in my head are pretty simple to be honest. A person who loves to carve could do them all without issue. After seeing what types of things people r printing im sitting here thinking that my designs would be Way too simple. I guess I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way to get the Shape of a pumpkin. Ill try ur idea, thanks again!
Can you print all 310mm x 310 mm on this? I'm trying to do a print and I've got to change my cura settings, but I'm curious if anyone has done it.
is this one good for printing real persons in 3D using their photos? or there is another one recommended?
If you mean using photogrammetry to create a 3D model from dozens of photos, then that is possible, but it doesn't really have anything to do with this printer. You can certainly print the resulting model with this printer, but it has no functions that will help you create the model. And if you mean creating a 3D model from a single photo, that isn't really possible.
Mighty Jabba's Collection do you know a name of programs for creating 3D model from photogrammetry or a video to learn how to use it?
Hi, thanks for the review! Very informative. When you say I didnt bought the CR10 for printing small object, is taht mean the CR10 isnt the best for printing small objects? thanks :)
PXXX Actually it’s fine for small things. I guess it depends how small you mean, but it’s about the same as other similar printers.
i want this so bad! i got my monoprice mini today but the micro usb port was completely ripped out so im waiting for my refund and will be picking this one up
Commander Wyro Cool. The Mini is supposed to be good but the small size is pretty limiting
Have you tried the CR10S
I have made reviews of the larger versions of CR-10S, but not the regular sized one.
Amazing!!!!
Would you take project requests and sell them?
hello I am looking to buy my 1st 3d printer . ok thanks William
Great video man
I hope that in next 10 years disney will also sell 3d printer blue prints for their black series figures 😀
+Fastboy Yeah I don't see that happening ever, unless they figure out a way to make you pay for each one you print. I guess we should just be happy they aren't cracking down on people sharing Star Wars or Marvel-inspired models
pretty hard for them to crack down on it as its hard to protect such ip. what they can protect is the NAMES which is why its called mars bars scuttle and fellenium malcon etc..
Nerys Well, if they really wanted to crack down on people making models available, being cutesy with the name isn't going to make any difference. And in any case, the vast majority of Star Wars models on Thingiverse and elsewhere make no attempt to hide the fact that they are based on Star Wars. I think it's just been going under Disney's radar up until now, but if 3D printing really does take off among the general public I could see them asking for everything related to Star Wars to be removed
Mighty Jabba's Collection that's not entirely true most functional things or objects can't be copyrighted they would have to be patented that's why only certain things like Mickey Mouse are significant enough to be trademarked so you can make the object as long as you don't call it the same name
Nerys Functional designs yes, but a Millennium Falcon model isn't a functional design. You absolutely can copyright spaceship or character designs. Disney also has the trademark on the names, but simply changing a name isn't enough to allow you to make your own Star Wars figures without permission, for example. Admittedly copyright gets a little complicated when 3D printing is involved, but Disney did recently ask to have a Haunted Mansion design removed from Thingiverse, so there is precedent for it
nice. now I am going to have to make an even larger falcon. :-) I am a glutten for punishment :-)
Does this thing also print finer structures? Like a little detailed stuff
Sure. I was trying to show how it was different than other printers, with its huge build volume. But it can also do small details just like any other printer.
What speed do you run this printer at?
I can't seem to find the CP3O and R2D2 thingyverse stl....
They seem to have been removed, but they are still at myminifactory: www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-low-poly-r2d2-and-c3po-26363
hello I just bought this printer from banggoods.com it has not arrived yet but I am excited to assemble it. In the video he said it is not good for long term is it true cause I plan to keep it for quit some time in good condition, any other advice as this is my first 3D printer?
Can't decide.....I want Prusa quality but cr10s built size....any advice would be most appreciated oh Mighty Jabba.....sorry I have no droids to offer you in payment your hutness..... Thanks
I’m not really sure what to tell you since I haven’t used a Prusa, but I have heard good things about them and I imagine they are better quality overall than the CR-10. Of course you do pay for it.
My first print was a doctor who sonic screwdriver lol
How much filament did this take?
Hi! Great video! New subscriber! I´m making my homework before buying my first 3D Printer. The CR-10 seems to be one good option, I want to print in PLA and ABS as a hobbie, but as anyone, I want the best bang for the buck. So, in your experience, what other choices do you recommend in the $500 US dolar range or lower? I started looking at the Tevo Tarantula, then the Anycubic i3 Mega, and the CR-10. Cheers!
Raúl Galindo I don't have any direct experience with the others so it's difficult to compare. I suppose part of it depends on whether you really need the large build volume of the CR-10
Got it! so, if you could recommend a replacement for the CR - 10, which one woul it be from the ones that you already have tried?
I've really only used a handful of printers so it's difficult to make other recommendations. From watching of reviews, though, in this general price range I think the CR-10 is probably the best
Mighty Jabbas Collection how much space does the whole set up take up. I.e. what is the footprint
There is a bit of wiggle room because of the way the control box is attached by cables, but generally I would say it’s about 29 or 30 inches wide, slightly over 24 inches tall, and maybe 30 inches deep (because you have to leave room for the bed to move back and forth). Hope that helps
what slicing software did you use
Good Video.
Hey where can I get an a model file for to
he Dekapa Cat or the two files needed for each half?
Thank you
It's available on Thingiverse. Search "CR-10 cat" for the actual file, or "decapicat" for the joke version someone made.
Hi - Do you have any plans to do an updated review that more so follows this review? You said about the longevity of the printer since people have only had it a few months so it would be good to hear about if you have had any issues with it.
I did make another video about an issue I had with the printer (faulty heater cartridge) shortly after this review came out, so you can check that out. Aside from that, I haven't really had any issues and I have been using it a fair amount.
Just watched it now & seems like a bit of an annoying issue to have but your solution seems pretty good. Have you ever thought about painting some of the models you print? Either way, I've subscribed & will be looking forward to more of your content :)
I do paint some of them, most recently a Santa Porg that I showed on my Instagram account. I have shown them in a few videos as well. instagram.com/mightyjabbascollection/
Would this printer be able to create the r2d2 dome in fewer parts and therfor make the roundnes even better and less work afterwards?
To some extent, yes. I believe the designer of the R2 model has a version of the dome that is divided into fewer pieces that could work on the CR-10. It would still require quite a bit of finishing though, since the dome is still much larger than the print area.
hi how bad is the smell of melting rubber when using this does it fill whole house with burning rubber smell i think my xyz was like that
I don't think any printer should smell like melting rubber, but maybe you were using ABS filament instead of PLA? That does have a bad odor
what does pla one smell like?
PLA has more of a sweet odor, if it has one at all
Awesome Jabba statue. Did you happen to load that file to Thingiverse?
Chris Pomianek Links for everything are in the description. I also made a piggy bank version of the Jabba statue
Mighty Jabba's Collection thank you!
Tried the two z axis mods?....can you mod the twin axis to run on single motor?
I haven't tried them myself. What advantage would there be to using a single motor?
Can anyone tell me which model of the CR-10 range this is, I know its extended but wondered if this was a CR-10(S)..also their is the 3S, 4S and 5S...would appreciate any help guys.
This is just the normal, entry-level CR-10.
I need to use a painting for the colored ones?what kind a paint ?
Nando Edgar If you just mean the single color ones, they use colored filament. But if you want many colors you can use acrylic paint
Do you know what the difference is between the upgraded and regular one?
+JAGA Technologies The CR-10S has two z-axis leadscrews, a filament runout sensor, and slightly different firmware. (I’ve heard that the latest ones can also resume after a power outage but I don’t know the details.) I think that’s all of the differences. I’m not entirely sure it’s worth the extra money. I recently received a CR-10S4 for review, which basically a larger version of the CR-10S, so I will be posting a review of that at some point (still have to put it through its paces).
Awesome, I will be looking forward to your review of the new model! Great video!
what slicing software did you use @Mighty Jabba's Collection
Jack Lyons I pretty much always use Simplify3D
which print speed did he use 100?
What is the program name that you use to print
The slicer is Simplify 3D, although I don’t know if it’s worth buying that nowadays since I understand other slicers have gotten a lot better
Hi thanks for a grate blog, im new to this need to get one of these printers in hooked, do you no whats the best site to join were i can get hobby downloads like what you have printed off,
Thanks
Thingiverse.com is probably the main site, but there are many others like myminifactory.com.
What are your thoughts on the cr10 mini?
Hootdoog Games I reviewed it on the channel. Basically it’s fine but there doesn’t seem to be much point to making it smaller since the footprint doesn’t change all that much and it’s not that much cheaper. You might as well just get the bigger CR-10S
Mighty Jabba's Collection ok thanks for the help
Try to not use honeycomb infill. It takes forever
