Oh my god, THANK YOU! Every other video/forum says that you need the official Nintendo adapter, which costs $80. My $12 adapter finally works (I can live without rumble). You are the best!

Mine detects the port but it doesn’t give me the option to adjust the button settings all I get is mouse/keyboard

When I tried it, it detects the port but when I press the buttons on my GC controller it doesn't detect anything.

For me the player slots on my adapter didn't match what dolphin registered. ie. Slot 0 on dolphin was actually slot 4 on the adapter. If the other stuff didn't work try setting it to " all devices " and then try setting an input and it will tell you which slot it detected.
@@ramata9545 That was exactly my issue, thanks dude! Tried all ports and finally Dolphin Slot 0 was actually port 4 on my adapter. Glad to finally make this thing work as I was starting to think this third party adapter was a bad idea (not working on any of my wii u console games but smash)
When I open Dolphin before I open a ROM up, I go to the Controllers tab and when I hit Configure, it reads "Adapter Detected." But as soon as I launch my ROM and navigate back to the Configure settings, it reads "Adapter Not Detected." Is this an issue with the ROM I'm running? Did I mess up the installation? Why would it read Adapter Detected and then suddenly stop detecting the adapter once I try to play a game?

PSA: This may not seem helpful, but make sure to hit the "Refresh" button during the configuration process. I couldn't get my controllers to respond after following all these steps and I spent several frustrated minutes trying to figure out what was wrong until I hit refresh and got everything working.

Adapter Kext Installation
If you have a official Nintendo adapter, or a Mayflash adapter, follow the below steps exactly for Gamecube controller support under macOS. When entering terminal commands, pay attention to the output: if it says no such file, failure, or anything of the sorts, start from step 1. Third party offbrand adapters may or may not work.
Step 1:
- Boot your Mac into recovery mode by restarting and holding CMD + R until the Apple logo appears.
- Open a terminal (Utilities in menu bar -> Terminal)
- Run csrutil disable. Don't worry - you'll re-enable this in a bit. It is required for loading the kernel extension for the adapter.
- Reboot into normal macOS.
Step 2:
- Open a terminal. (This can be found in Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal).
- Run: curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf raw.githubusercontent.com/project-slippi/Ishiiruka/slippi/Data/install_smashenabler.sh | sh
- Follow the prompts.
Step 3:
- Boot your Mac into recovery mode by restarting and holding CMD + R until the Apple logo appears.
- Open a terminal (Utilities in menu bar -> Terminal)
- Run: csrutil enable --without kext
- Note: This will say unsupported configuration. This command re-enables SIP, but leaves you the ability to load unsigned kernel extensions on-demand, which is what the adapter requires.
- Reboot into normal macOS.
Testing/Post Reboot Ritual
Your kext should now be installed. If Slippi still fails to read your controller, close it, open a terminal and run the following - this is needed more often on Catalina post-reboot, or on Mac models post-2018 that have a T2 security chip:
sudo kextutil /Library/Extensions/SmashEnabler.kext
If you still have issues, run the following report it in here with your macOS version/model/adapter model:
ioreg | grep WUP-028 -A6

@@testaccount5359 MS has f'ked a lot of things lately. They wrecked my PXN steering wheel with an update and ALMOST ruined my Dolphin emulator itself by not allowing USB at all but each time Dell has their own updates to make most USB things work.

At the moment, I’m using a usb GameCube controller. In smash melee what ends up happening is that when I try to move, it just dodges left and right. I’ve tried to fix this on the controller settings however it just isn’t working. I have a major problem. The adapter im using wont show up. I plug in grey, black, i try every port, but nothing works. Do you think it is the adapter or im doing something wrong?
I went thru all this because I have Retrostation PC4U 4TB external HDD with 70,000 games and I have a Xbox controller wireless windows and you are right about the rumble will not work. The controller will work in the WII games but not the Game Cube games and I notice there is an update for software 5.0 for Dolphin but continued with configuring in dolphin the Xbox controller and succeeded but have to stay in Dolphin to play the games and it was fine. So I was thinking of the 4 port converter and Nintendo controller. But I notice with a wired controller it would work with out Dolphin and it would work the Game Cube games. Those official Smash Bros Switch controller are pretty cheap and feel genuine, they can be a great option and they are usb so don't even need any converter or adaptater :)

For some reason. Sometimes dolphin connects and disconnects the controllers for a split second but connects back up again. It isnt that annoying, but it is an inconvenience. Any way to fix it?

Hey can you please help? when I try configure the button mapping, the buttons on my gc controller doesn't work, I have the adapter set to pc mode because if I set it to switch/wiiu mode it cant detect the ports bt with pc mode it can detect the ports
I managed to get the buttons to work by selecting "all devices" rather than port 0 but I still cant calibrate the sticks because the computer wont detect any input from the sticks I hope you can help
@@__Nicholas__ I used zadig, but it still won't detect my controller, despite it being set to Wii U mode, and the dolphin even claiming that the adapter is detected.

@@TutorialClan It's a USB controller, it plugs directly in to the PC without the need of an adapter.
@@YellowNBlue have you tried to go into Dolphins configuration buttons and remap the buttons
@@TutorialClan I did, the D-Pad and Control Stick work the exact same way, they're not independant buttons, I think it's the controller itself.

the only way that I can think of is to pull back the graphics in the game or switch it to opengl or DirectX depending on which graphics card you have

David Maya figured it out. Make sure you download the 5.0 latest dolphin and make sure your using a GameCube controller adapter any kind. I have a knock off adapter I got at my nearest retro game store. In the configure settings put that it’s a standard controller and then configure it. In the settings where your programming the buttons and sticks at the top left selection select the one that’s popping up on the input. And make sure your GameCube controller is plugged in the far left input on the adapter. That’s input 1

Should be the exact same process. Get a GameCube adapter then plug your wavebird into that and it should work.

@@TutorialClan exact same I switched to wii u mode just to see if that help and changed driver to Winusb but dolphin says its detected but then when I boot a game keeps switching back and forth
If you have the one with pc and Wii U/Nintendo Switch switch on the back use this video because dolphin can take advantage of the wii u mode better like for rumble support and automatically controller configuration
