My grandmother passed away last year in her 80’s. One of the last stories she told me was about how she love to go to Coney Island. Her father would take her in to Manhattan for work and then afterwards they would go to Coney Island. Thanks Jordan!
Sending you condolences for losing your Gramma. Mine was my very best friend. And she tragically lost her life 4 year's ago. At the age of 94. Thank you for sharing her memory.
I was visiting my daughters family in Manhattan. She said we were going to some aquarium for the day. I had no idea where we were driving. We went through this aquarium place and walked into another part and I was standing there on the deck, looking down the long deck along the beach and realized I was at Coney Island. I was beside myself. I came up very poor and as a child Coney Island was a dream place. I grew out of it of course and never gave it any thoughts as an adult. Then without notice I was standing there. It was a overwhelming personal moment in life, in such a wonderful way. My childhood dream rose within me with excitement and watery eyes of joy. I spoiled my Grandson rotten that day on Coney Island.

First a BIG THANK YOU to Jordan’s friend James for driving 🚗 us around today, it’s good to have friends... and thanks Jordan for braving the heat to create today’s VLOG. Wow what a fun day @ Coney Island, 🎠🎪🎢🎢 a view of the beach gee not packed as I had anticipated. Then off to Brooklyn to visit the HARRY HOUDINI FAMILY PLOT & it’s very nicely kept up and to some great pizza 🍕& then the filming site of “COMING TO AMERICA” which is by the way a great movie... so thank you Jordan 🧔for an exciting vlog so take care🌼🌸🎪🌺🌹🏝🚗🎪🌹🌺 🌻🌻👩🏻💻
Jordan, please tell James thank you from all of us who were able to see even MORE of your trip to NY because of him. What a nice guy! I am very grateful for today's vlog, and even MORE grateful that you didn't take us on the Cyclone while I was eating breakfast. A wondeful, funfilled vlog and you are so kind to do this for all of us. Have a great weekend, WHEREVER you are today.
Many years ago my daughter rode an hour in the subway to Coney Island. Of course we went to the original Nathan’s. At that time there was talk of closing Coney Island and am glad that did not happen. Such a New York tradition. Thanks for another great vlog.
Jordan how I wish I can take you back in time to 1966. I was living there on west 25 st. My cousin worked at Coney Island. So I rode the rides for free. A different Coney Island back then. I used to skip school and hung out at the arcades with my friends. Lol arcades, sides shows etc. You would of loved it!! I went back a few years ago. I was very dissappointed. Of course everything changes yet it brought back a lot of memories of me and my dad having fun. Miss you dad!! And I was shocked to see tourist. Back in the day was mostly locals.
One of my nicest NY memories was the day I decided to finally see Coney Island. It was a beautiful day and I ended up spending the whole afternoon at the park and the museum, followed by a Cyclones game at that beautiful ball park. Their score board was shaped like the roller coaster and you could look past it and see the real Cyclone running in the distance. It was a beautiful, perfect day! Even the subway ride was fun. A really great day!
Wow!! Can I be you just for a day?! Awesome vlog! Didnt know Coney island was so big! Is that where Tom Hanks' character found the Zoltan machine in Big....anyone know? Houdini's family plot is beautiful, and that pizza...yum!! What a great friend James is, to drive all around NYC for you! Thanks, Jordan!!
Houdini lived at 79th and Second until age 21--close to where I am. There is a seance in the restaurant at bottom floor of building every year on his birthday.
Interesting note, Coney Island was originally 3 small islands just off shore and at the time of the land purchase with the Dutch and Indian nation of Manhattan the islands where given to Gysbert Updyke for his work in the negotiations. Manhattan was a fort for the Dutch Trading Company until later conquered by the British. Gysbert’s main home was near Battery Park on Stone Street, called such because it was paved in stones and Battery Park was the fort set up with cannons to defend the settlers.
As always, a terrific vlog!!! I have never visited the East coast, but you sure are nailing all the places I would like to see Jordan!! Coney Island looks like a total blast & is someplace I've wanted to visit since I was a kid!! Your friend James seems like a cool guy & I am so glad he took you to visit Houdini's grave & of course for pizza!! I'm really happy you two have gotten to hang out! Thanks as always for taking us along for the ride!! ☺
There's a pub in the East Village (near St. Mark's Place) called McSorley's (since 1850). Rumor is that Houdini entered and there was an NYC cop there, who wanted to see if Houdini could really escape handcuffs. He did. There is a pair of them attached to the bar and the story goes that those are the same handcuffs.
Thanks Jordan for bring back the great memories I have of Coney Island and especially the roller coaster. I haven't been there since I was a little girl. TY
I noticed Houdini's Wife's Death date on the tombstone is NOT incised into the stone ...it has been left blank. She is buried in Hawthorne, NY just as you say Jordan. GREAT video!!
🦁 Jordan, on one of my trips trying to get back to Newark airport, I went the wrong direction and ended up in Coney Island. It was a time when Coney Island was closed down due to the storm destroying the board walk and it was SCARY!!! All I kept on saying, “How the FUDGE do I get the Heck out of here.” It is nice to see that Coney Island no longer looks desolate and it is reopened. Another, Great Video. 👏👍👏
Always a great atmosphere at Cony Island , nice to see Houdini's family grave is well looked after now . That's a great view from the bridge . Nice one Jordan & James !
Last time I was in NYC it was later in the year and I went to Coney Island. Unfortunately the rides were closed up, so all I could do was take pics of them. I'm not a big amusement park kind of guy, but I wanted to ride the Cyclone, if only because of the Mercury Rev song. But I did get a Nathan's hot dog and it was great.
Hi Jordan, WOW, Coney Island looks GREAT, they sure have some great rides there I would go on like the Soarin Eagle. What a lovely grave for Houdini, such a horrible way to go though. I am really loving all the sights of NY that we are seeing it really is such a great trip, some great skyline views aswell. Great vlog Jordan.
Jordan, Coney Island looked like so much fun! And I love Nathan’s hotdogs; they’re my favorite. Thank you for taking us to Houdini’s grave. This was another chock-full vlog of adventures! It was so nice of James to take you where you wanted to go.
Jordan love your vlogs watch them everyday. I would like to point out that "My T Sharp" was on the right side of the building. Man that whole area has changed I would not have known it was that place so I thankyou for the vlogs great information. and as another commenter stated I think of the song "Under the Boardwalk" by I think The Drifters that was a great song!
Nathan's original plain hot dogs were .35 in 1971; today they are $4.75. That is highway robbery. I think it costs over $15 to go on the Wonder Wheel as well!
I’ve always kicked myself for not having enough time for Coney Island, so I’m so happy you vlogged this. I will conquer the Thunderbolt someday. Great vlog! Loved all of it!
That was a fun vlog. We lived in upstate New York for 4 yrs and traveled to Brooklyn & Manhattan once a month either to see a movie, broadway show or eating with friends or family at Windows of the world at Twin Towers. Danny’s Pizza was our favorite pizza as well. Never went to Coney Island & never saw Houdini’s grave so thank you and your childhood friend for making our day. ❤️🙏🏻🎡🏖
They didn't have any of the Mermaid stuff since the 60's. When I grew up in Queens in the 70s Coney Island was pretty much dead, except for the Cyclone / Wonder Wheel if that.
nice to see Coney Island video, my wife is from Brooklyn NY & we use to visit every time we drive from Norfolk Virginia to Brooklyn NY to see her family....however Coney Island is not what it use to be in the 80's and 90's....its not as popular & it doesn't have half the energy that it did back in the 80's or 90's but again that's all of NYC....its just not the same, it's more subdued now & just like any other big city.
That was neat to see Coney Island never would I go on those rides! Yikes lol! Houdini's grave that was interesting.. thanks as always Jordan great vlog. And THANKS for the gift record and CD I'll treasure it and think of you ❤❤❤ God bless!!!
Awesome vlog Jordan...my older daughters and son n law went to Coney Island last year as a college graduation present to my 2nd oldest...i am not a beach person either,I like to watch the people on the beach but don't like sitting on the beach...loved seeing Houdini's grave,my great uncle had actually met him at one time as he too was a musician...loved the movie Coming To America,Eddie Murphy is hilarious
Thanks Jordan, these are three more places I have wanted to visit but have not had the chance to do so yet. I have seen many clips of the Houdini grave, and in each one the whole cemetery looks overgrown. Coming to America is one of those movies that no matter how many time I have seen it, I always laugh. Thanks for the awesome tour of Coney Island!
I am so glad to see that they are finally taking carse of it. He touched so many people in alot or ways! Thank you Jordan and James! Bess is in the other cemetery.
I'd love that, but really, there's not much there from when the Fair was there. Heck, growing up there the hemisphere was there, and the Science center. Not much else.
U are absolutely right about the beach. We have pics of our family in the 60s on the beach there. Wall to wall ppl and towels, no exposed sand dt crowd. My bro took the subway and bus at 8yrs old to Coney Island..mom freaked out
Great vlog. Looks like Coney Island has changed. Beautiful views from it though. The pizza looked good. Great views of NY. I saw a video of Houdini's grave and it was a mess. All over grown and dirt everywhere and someone had stolen Harry's bust. Sounds and looks like it is being taken better care of now. Thanks for taking us around with you today. Safe Travels and Take Care.
Great video! Yes, they do still have arcades and side shows but coney can get a little confusing. There are other things on the street side. The Original tremendous Nathan's is on surf ave . And that was the parachute jump ride it is now a NYC Landmark on the national register of historic places. It was originally made for the1939 worlds fair. The only existing thing left from Steeplechase park.
My families funeral home in Detroit handled his remains and enbalming before sending home on a train in his prop bronze coffin. Wm.R Hamilton Funeral Home. Building is still there on Cass Ave. They also handled Henry Ford and many other prominent Detroiters. Excellent vlog Jordan
That “famous ride” is the parachute jump from the 1939/40 world’s fair in Flushing Queens. It was originally sponsored by LifeSavers candy. It was moved to Coney Island when the fair closed.
Another great vlog, Jordan! In the past week you have taken me to; The Tower Of London, Henry The Viii's Summer Castle, The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN, and now Coney Island. That's not even all of them either lol! You have inspired me to stop waiting to see the world, and until I can do it myself I so enjoy you taking us along on your adventures. Enjoy all the upcoming events and I can't wait to see where you go next, all the best to you and sweet little Jah! ✌️
Another great vlog, enjoyed it very much. I was always fascinated about Houdini. The pizza looked delicious (one of my favorite foods) and I have to say as far as the rides I'd be scared to death. As a kid I would go on those rides if they had them like that back in the day but as I got older I lost my courage lol. Thank you Jordan and James for taking us on this trip.
Sad thing if you watch documentaries about coney island. ..it's nothing to what it used to be. Progress isn't always for the best. Houdini's wife is buried in a Catholic cemetery. Her family didn't want her buried in a Jewish cemetery
👍😁 Jame's a real trooper and im guessing by the look on his face he didn't care for la much!! 😂 LOVE everything vintage at Coney Island!! Especially the carousel n Nathan's!! The murals are awesome!! LOVE the Houdini family plot and the handcuffs left at his wife's grave is a nice touch!! Gotta go get a greasy slice of pizza now!! YUM!!
Oh hi, my love.... that very tall ride that once rode was a parachute ride. Up and down it went closing and opening for that enjoyment of another. Love ya from Greece!
Just totally awesome tour!! Coney Island, "Coming to America" and the pizza! And how on earth do you keep your energy up, I have no idea! Again, THANK YOU, Jordan!
Great vlog! I was born on Long island but raised in Queens and now live in Ohio so it was good to see home :D Awesome of James to take you around. My favorite pizza was in my neighborhood- Gaby's ;)
Thanks Jordan my Mom was from Brooklyn and I always wondered what it looked like! It was very interesting to see Coney Island also! Thanks for all you do you are great! 😄
What happened was J. Gordon Whitehead walked up to Houdini backstage and without warning hit Houdini in the stomach as hard as he could. Course the guy didn't know that Houdini had to prepare by tightening the muscle structure in advance before the initial blow. How sad. Great Video, Jordan!
My grandmother passed away last year in her 80’s. One of the last stories she told me was about how she love to go to Coney Island. Her father would take her in to Manhattan for work and then afterwards they would go to Coney Island. Thanks Jordan!

Thomas Creamer mcsorleys is a N.Y. institution. A must see !
Difamas pizza in Brooklyn is the best pizza in world.
I never knew that story must go there and check it out!!
History of Brooklyn can’t beat it many a story to be told
Thanks Jordan for bring back the great memories I have of Coney Island and especially the roller coaster. I haven't been there since I was a little girl. TY

I live in Norfolk VA. Mr. Doumar had the first Ice Cream Cone machine there. He discovered it
This was excellent!! Loving every NY vlog. James was a such nice guy taking you around to see so much. Thank you for sharing this with us!
1979 the Movie Boardwalk with Art Carney filmed there. And the warriors. Love it.

Jordan - somebody died on the parachute ride many years ago, that is why it's no longer in Operation
The original Nathan's restaurant stands at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Ave. Not the one on the boardwalk.
Never been there so it was great seeing this. 👍🏻😎
The Beach looks nice, even less crowded than Texas beaches.
Thanks for this one. This was my mother's childhood. This was excellently presented and filmed.

watch 'The Little Fugitive" (1953) to see Coney Island in the 1950's. The tall tower is the parachute ride.
They didn't have any of the Mermaid stuff since the 60's. When I grew up in Queens in the 70s Coney Island was pretty much dead, except for the Cyclone / Wonder Wheel if that.
In Coney island, there is a mermaid avenue.. it's not in a nice section
@@user-ib2kt4oo7i Yeah, plus they have the mermaid parade every year, probably along or near that. My family moved out in the late 70s.
nice to see Coney Island video, my wife is from Brooklyn NY & we use to visit every time we drive from Norfolk Virginia to Brooklyn NY to see her family....however Coney Island is not what it use to be in the 80's and 90's....its not as popular & it doesn't have half the energy that it did back in the 80's or 90's but again that's all of NYC....its just not the same, it's more subdued now & just like any other big city.
Yo before u leave nyc don’t forget to go an see the Fillmore east
Great Vlog, I did feel like I was there.
My old neighborhood. Passed by Houdini's grave often. The bust was missing more often then it was there. Enjoy N.Y.
Your videos of NY are great! I hope to visit NY one day
It’s on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing Coney Island ♥️.
That was neat to see Coney Island never would I go on those rides! Yikes lol! Houdini's grave that was interesting.. thanks as always Jordan great vlog. And THANKS for the gift record and CD I'll treasure it and think of you ❤❤❤ God bless!!!

Never been to Coney Island I can’t believe how cool you bring all things to life ! Thanks Jordan
Ah Jordan you brought back god memory of coney island❤️
Yay Coney Island !! So excited to really see it !! I also have only seen documentaries. Thank you James for making visiting Houdini possible.
How fun..was just in NYC..in April..so happy to re- visit with you..tyfs..ty James!
Thanks Jordan, these are three more places I have wanted to visit but have not had the chance to do so yet. What a fun day in NY. love Coming to America- quote it all the time!! Thanks for sharing
I am so glad to see that they are finally taking carse of it. He touched so many people in alot or ways! Thank you Jordan and James! Bess is in the other cemetery.
Good work Jordan You should go were the 1964 world fair was that would be cool
I'd love that, but really, there's not much there from when the Fair was there. Heck, growing up there the hemisphere was there, and the Science center. Not much else.
Coney Island Heyday was 1890-1911 it was nice after that but declining to 1960 -1970 a dump but today it has returned a bit.
Thanks Jordan, now your talking.. about my city!
I wish there were traces of 1920"s Coney Island, like Steeple Chase, Luna Park, etc.
Pretty cool!! I can remember going on the parachute jump when I was 10, really fun!! Awesome vlog!!! Thanks Jordan!!
U are absolutely right about the beach. We have pics of our family in the 60s on the beach there. Wall to wall ppl and towels, no exposed sand dt crowd. My bro took the subway and bus at 8yrs old to Coney Island..mom freaked out
What a day! Thank you James and Jordan! It still amazes me the amount of people in such a "small area" in New York. Or maybe not so small after all.
Brooklyn is the 4th largest city in this country, just because Manhattan gets all the attention doesn't mean Brooklyn is forgotten
@@user-ib2kt4oo7i wow!
Been to NYC but never Coney Island. I need to go sometime! More for the food and the beach than the rides.
Great place they have fireworks on Fridays in the summer until labor day.
Thanks for sharing Jordan

if you`ll notice on Wilhelmina`s grave the death year has not been completed it reads 1875 - 19xx

I love Coney Island! Great vlog!
Under the boardwalk....down by the sea......
You rock bro! 😎
That houdini was incredibly cool
Yes my grandpa used to work on it when he was a kid
Just totally awesome tour!! Coney Island, "Coming to America" and the pizza! And how on earth do you keep your energy up, I have no idea! Again, THANK YOU, Jordan!
Great vlog! I was born on Long island but raised in Queens and now live in Ohio so it was good to see home :D Awesome of James to take you around. My favorite pizza was in my neighborhood- Gaby's ;)
I like your vlog about Coney Island everything else you did as well

Thanks Jordan my Mom was from Brooklyn and I always wondered what it looked like! It was very interesting to see Coney Island also! Thanks for all you do you are great! 😄
What happened was J. Gordon Whitehead walked up to Houdini backstage and without warning hit Houdini in the stomach as hard as he could. Course the guy didn't know that Houdini had to prepare by tightening the muscle structure in advance before the initial blow. How sad. Great Video, Jordan!
Nice vlog Jordan! Coney Island is fun!
Watch the Great American Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th of July every year. I work with Joey Chestnuts’ sister. Big fun!
