I was told last night that Gene and Paul did vocal session work at Electric Lady Studios to accumulate the demo time.. Just to be a little more specific.
@@sambekins Well....let Jordan KNOW what specific areas he was WRONG. To just throw out what you wrote....not helpful, and, at a point....irresponsible.
I was given the name Kiss Freak back in 76 in Jr high and wore it proudly 😜Thanks so much for taking us all to these places! It’s so cool to see the younger generations interested in this stuff! It’s like a trip down memory lane and the future at the same time... ha ha ha.👍👍👍
Thanks for the cool vlog! Glad Gene and Paul, as different as they were, pushed forward to form and maintain such an iconic band. I appreciate your including the Jimi Hendrix connection.
Who knew!! All these years that I have walked on 23rd and 8th ave to cross the street. Kiss stood there. Will go back there this weekend and take some pictures. Awesome vlog!!
I love an origins vlog! I grew up being terrified of my much older brother’s KISS posters to really enjoying them as the years went on. This was so well put together! Enjoyed all of the extra little tidbits in this vlog too.
Hey Jordan! I'm a new subscriber. I just found your channel this past week and i've been watching a ton of your videos! They're all so interesting! Love your channel. 🙂
Awesome man, thank you soo much Jordan for doing this vlog. I've been waiting for a long time to see those sites, been a fan of KISS since 76 simply can't thank you enough
76 will always be a iconic standout year in my memory. I turned13 that year. Heard Detroit Rock City on the radio for the first time and was totally mesmerized by the Destroyer album!!! Been a lifelong KISS fan since.
Now that was a very interesting KISS tour! Although I'm not a KISS fan, this was interesting to know of how & when they got started, and of how hard they worked just to get their foot in the door! Very good Vlog, Jordan!
Get up...and get your grandma out a here.....i was a kiss fanatic back in the day, still love the band..loved their early album covers too..another great vlog jordan, give the Jahster a kiss on the head for me💛
Jordan. Great episode for KISS fanatics....like me. Thank you. Unfortunately, Conventry is now a Redwings shoe store. My Wife went to that location years ago.
Great vlog Jordan, the first concert l ever went to was Kiss. Back in 1977 at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was quite the experience for a then shy nineteen year old, lol. Thanks again for sharing. Safe Travels.
Fantastic vlog!! I loved this vlog... and I have always loved “KISS” such fun fun fun to walk around Manhattan to see their humble beginnings I appreciate your effort, Jordan for putting this travel vlog together, take care ❤️🌸🎸🎶🌹🌼🌷🌻🌻👩🏻💻
This was an awesome vlog on the history of KiSS!! I never knew they were from NYC! I knew nothing about thier history...thank you for another kick-ass vlog Jordan!!
Definitely Loved this Vlog !! Your so Amazing at how you hold all that knowledge!! I just really enjoy all your Vlogs Jordan . In a low day and ( especially this week , I’ve been really sick) You sure Cheer me up !! Your the Best !! Loves to the Jahster 😘💋💋💋💋 for him sharing you with us !! 🌹
Yay Queens. Loved KISS, especially growing up since they were formed where I grew up. I don't know about Twisted Sister wearing more makeup than KISS though. KISS had their whole faces covered.
@@DazewithJordantheLion I guess you'll do whatever works lol Probably a mistake on French's part. TS was pretty popular as well, but not as iconic as KISS.
Hi Jordan, really like the street art. Interesting hearing how Kiss started out. It really is nice just having a look around NY. I still have my Kiss badge from the 70s. Great vlog Jordan.
What a wonderful vlog!!! Your so informative and your enthusiasm for what you do is contagious. Kiss is such an iconic band. Funny how Gene (the king. ..lol) didnt want to wear makeup. Thank you so much Jordan. You really make my day with your fantastic vlogs. Much love to you and Jah ❤❤❤🦁. Be safe
So interesting and informative. Years ago I remember looking at a Playboy magazine and they always reviewed new albums and there was an album by this band called KISS that looked interesting so I bought it and the first song I heard on it was "Strutter" and I was hooked.
This VLOG is one of your best researched ones and presentations. From editing to storyline this really had my attention. Having met the band members earlier and getting first hand stories from them for this helped you out a lot too. You really had your details down even with a post scrip too. The first time I ever heard about KISS, was the summer of 1975, just before my sophomore year in high school in Huntington Beach California. It took me a long time to warm up to them but I did. Give Jahster a ear scratch for me.
History of Kiss.. Crazy Man.. I never knew anything about these guys I always thought they met and formed in Los Angeles and had something to do with LA Guns.. but what do I know?! I was so young couch hopping to grateful dead gigs and digging the sounds the radio was playing .
I’m 99% sure the building on Queens Blvd where Kiss had their first gig is still standing. I forget the address, but I did scope it out a few years ago. (Im a train operator for the elevated 7 train that runs along Queens Blvd) hope you enjoyed NYC. If I could be of service to you, whenever your in NY, let me know.
Great vlog as usual. Nice to see electric lady in there. My band recorded our album there in 96 and our producer was someone you mentioned in the vlog today - ric ocasek. Back then the outside wasn’t as fancy and the neighborhood was definitely more sketchy but it was a fun time. Eddie Kramer - another mentioned in today’s vlog - stopped by our sessions several times, was a great guy. And of course finally... later that year in 96 we toured with KISS. So a great vlog... brought back a lot of memories!
I thought I was familiar enough with KISS's origins, but your on-site retelling brings it to life. You ain't like no documentarian or tour guide. You're like a cultured cool buddy sayin', "hey, hop in the car, lemme show y'all somethin' with a cool story."
Thanks man, that's kind of always what I'm striving for.. I'm glad you get it.. I've never claimed to be a documentarian.. Just trying to peak peoples interest a little for them to go find out more hope all is well, Jeff!
WOW! A lot of great information on KISS in this vlog. You really did a lot of research on this one. That sidewalk chalk drawing was just awesome. I'm enjoying these NY vlogs. Thanks for taking us along with you today. Safe Travels and Take Care
Thanks so much for posting. I'm not a big KISS fan...Ace Frehley lived just a few blocks, in the north Bronx...where I type now. I know several people who know Ace...and he's ocassionally seen in our Kingsbridge neighborhood. I know the geography of where you were on this vlog...Eigth Street used to be a fun place to walk, shop, hang-out, get something t eat....now so many shoe stores...and NYU buildings taking over...since early 1990s. Your enthusiasm is very refreshing.
Many things that I never thought about when it comes to the history of KISS. Very interesting. But I knew that when you were going to that location for the end of your blog, it would be the photo shoot for the DRESSED TO KILL album cover. Is it true that Peter Criss was the only member at the time of the photo to own his suit of all of the members? What I really found interesting is that Bruce Kulick played guitar later, but Ace was the one that was chosen in the beginning! But looking back, it was a wise decision based on their success as a band.
VERY cool vlog! My first concert was KISS in 1976, Evansville, IN. (I wrote a book on it on another Kiss vlog of yours so won't go into that again. haha) That guy and the Gene tongue thing... lol. Loving these NYC vlogs! :D
Good work Jordan I have to say your the best vlogger I watch I like how you are at the place and you actually give some history of what your talking about keep up the good work
I was a KISS fan when Hotter than Hell came out ( I just started junior high) saw them twice - '77 ( in fact it was on the day that Elvis died, I saw them in San Francisco at the Cow Palace) and then in '79 in San Diego ( yeah I'm showing my age - 59 )
Some artist needs to paint exactly where each members footprints would have been like the album cover on the “Dressed to Kill” street corner. One of Ace’s would of coarse be on the traffic light pole. 🤘🏼
Nice job; enjoyed the Kistory; seriously enjoyed seeing all the sites in context. Friendly FYI (not that it matters) that was a Marimba, not a Xylophone. 🙂
I was told last night that Gene and Paul did vocal session work at Electric Lady Studios to accumulate the demo time.. Just to be a little more specific.
Daze with Jordan the Lion yes, Lynn Christopher was the artist.

Paul and Gene definitely knew they had something indeed. They moved fast on it too. Smart, very Smart!.....
KISS is as iconic as they come. They were genius with their marketing and their music rocks! Jordan these New York vlogs are fantastic!
The DTK album location was actually done for Creem magazine but Kiss decided to use a photo from that session as the cover.
KISS paid their dues, worked very hard, and didn't have anything "handed" to them....respect.
As a MASSIVE KISS fan, this was awesome 👍🏻🤘🏻
I loved this. I've been a kiss fan all my life.

76 will always be a iconic standout year in my memory. I turned13 that year. Heard Detroit Rock City on the radio for the first time and was totally mesmerized by the Destroyer album!!! Been a lifelong KISS fan since.
Because of the tepid reaction ( sales wise ) to The New York Dolls & The Dictatators , Kiss had a problem securing a record deal.
Hey Jordan! A most EXCELLENT Vlog on KISS!! These NYC vlogs are so good!
Because NY is awesome
Kiss is just one of the top Iconic bands there are Kiss rocks.
Great job on the history of Kiss!
I can't say I have seen a street busker with a xylophone. Not the easiest thing to tote around.
"Where ya headed Curly?" -Ace Frehley, cab driver 1973
