More ships should be nuclear, it would save so much fuel and help the environment. Realistically the only reason why there arent more ships with nuclear propulsion is due to fear of the public and cost. However the upfront cost of a nuclear propulsion system could easily pay itself off since it basically would never need to be refueled (we have nuclear subs now that cant be refueled because they where designed to go their entire lifespan without nuclear refueling). As for the fear aspect, people just need to do some research and theyd realize how safe it actually is. Fossil fuel polition has actually caused MANY more deaths than nuclear ever has.

That engine would take a lot space than a nuclear one plus it will require constant maintenance which is not really a factor for nuclear engines. Plus it can go on for at least a decade without refuelling making it best for exploration vessels like these icebreakers. Also diesel engine are prone to jamming and damage in conditions like Canada let alone their survival in Arctic.

It has to be crazy to be on that ship! Can you imagine the sound it must make and how it feels throughout the entire ship? Not to mention if something happened to you out there.... There is basically no chance to be rescued because what else could break the ice to get to you? I guess it would still run with heat for basically forever because of its nuclear reactors. If it sank you would most likely die regardless because something crazy would have to happen and I'm not sure what happens when a ship with a active nuclear reactor sinks... Much less two nuclear reactors
