Thanks so much for this. I just found your stuff and I like MOTU which is cool. I enjoyed the Netflix show a lot and didn't know there were books, and I am also from Ontario, but anyways back to the topic at hand. I find Save the Cat helpful yet confusing at the same time. There needed to be more examples in it and more explanation. I found the author was just kind of repeating the same thing that things have to get worse for the character. The midpoint is almost just another catalyst I guess and then Bad Guys Close in is just what happens after that catalyst again. Am i right?

Yay I’m glad you liked the Netflix show! And yup, there are three books. I don’t know if they’re doing more though?
I think the midpoint is a bit different from the catalyst because the catalyst is supposed to catapult them into this new world, but the midpoint keeps them in the same world and just kind of shifts their perspective/pushes the character journey. But yeah bad guys close in, is a bit more vague tbh 😅 I basically just use it as a continuation of fun and games. But it’s more like the downturn period between the midpoint and the super bad stuff as I understand it in the book.
I feel like that’s why I just kind of developed my own ways of doing beats. And then once you have you own system, it’s easier to work within
