I clearly remember when Dave was the biggest thing in the world, as well as how the media portrayed him as a lunatic when he walked away from Chappelle's Show. Always bothered me how they went (and still go) after him. Love Dave and his work. He reminds me of a modern-day George Carlin, with his social commentary-laced comedy and his willingness to tackle and joke about current topics, no matter how sensitive they are. The praise he gets from Joe Rogan and other comics is well-deserved.
Easy to say now that he has talked about it. At the time anybody turning down 50mil like he did and walking away like that seemed crazy AF. I didn't need media to make me feel he lost it. I don't agree with the shit the media made up to make him seem crazy but I definitely thought he had lost his shit by his actions. When he talked about it I understood.

Yup! They may not have the popularity as Kevin Hart, but they will always be remembered for being hilarious and being knowledgeable of the business. No one's going to forget Chappelle and Kat. They've made too many contributions to comedy to be forgotten.
Except Kat is a horrible human, who can’t keep himself out of stupid situations. How’s he stayed out of jail for so long, after so many arrests? Money. He talks about things, as if there is a conspiracy. That’s just an industry, and once one burns enough bridges, no one is going to put you in movies anymore. Katt Williams made a career pretending to be a pimp. As Chris Rock once joked, and I’m paraphrasing, “he may not be a pimp, but he was wearing the uniform.”

Yeah even in acting. If you're a nobody and you want to be somebody, you either cultivate it over years like Dave did or you just gotta accept roles you wouldn't want to do but need the cash cause you're broke. And even then it can take years. I don't even believe everyone that "sells out" even ends up getting big money/success, only the ones most loyal and who knows whatever else they're looking for (ie good looking, actually truly is funny/talented at their craft etc)
With all due respect it is so important that we don't slide into this sense of victimization. Boundaries are important. Nobody HAS to do something they don't want to do. You can want to do something unpleasant becuase it is "the right thing" or because it brings personal gain. And in an unjust society, a refusal to do something you don't want to do may incite reprisal and unwanted reaction, but it is still a choice. In this case, Dave does not want to be a pawn to Hollywood culture, even if that means missing out on opportunities, because he sees the destruction that the elitist mindset has on communities of color and young minds. Kevin Hart does want to be a pawn to Hollywood culture because he cares more about personal gain than the issues brought up by Dave. Values underlie will. Will dictates want/choice.
Hardly. You have no idea what you're talking about. When you sign in blood on the dotted line for fame, you owe your soul. And that thing parading around as Dave Chappelle (because the REAL dave chappelle is DEAD) is a satan-worshipping, human-sacrificing demon.

I'm not trying to hate on Dave, but I'm hating on the fact that he's acting like he never said yes to being a lil' extra in a role that he was already hilarious as hell in.
Exactly the comment I was going to make. Kevin never said wearing a dress was a boundary he wouldn't cross. He said he can understand the need to set boundaries and that so far in his career he had never been put in a position to be asked to cross any of his own personal boundaries. Maybe he just didn't care about the dress thing.

It’s a non-verbal agreement where they’re basically telling you “we own you boy” Touché, when I think about the American history
Indeed , it is easy to see why he was offered 50 millions for dressing like a prostitute girl. IT was not for "comedy" at all they wanted him to do that ,Instead it was because he is a major influential leader -comedian figure , that was highly respected by african black community. And so those very wealthy behind hollywood are on a mission to create and speed up a Far Left Liberal culture ,and so they recruit most influential celebrities ,to help them with that. It is also possible that they see David Chappel popularity and influence as something very dangerous for them , if for example he choose to join politics. So those 50 millions offer was the start of a long recruitment campaign ,to keep him out of politics and move him towards the far left fake culture movement. That's what is all about . The 1% of Elite in America are all the time seeking to influence society way of thinking ,for greater control of them.
The writers and directors of a lot of these movies mentioned were black men, but black people keep blaming white people instead of the real culprit, the far left and their agenda to destroy masculinity. ALL masculinity.
lol. Thats not it! The pronouns have been subconsciously manipulating people into promoting what they are today by having the celebrities play the opposite gender . In peoples minds its all about the entertainment value but under the surface of the viewer subconscious minds, its reprogramming people to normalize the gay , lgbtqrs, homo, queer, pronouns agenda... There is a saying that even bad press becomes good because the message becomes tone def and normalized that what was once bad is now understood and accepted.. Its almost like, never hearing a gun shot in your neighborhood to over time hearing it everyday . at first, its frightening but as times goes by, the once frightening sound becomes less troublesome... This is why kids are now thinking that they are pronouns because they used their favorite entertainers to brainwash them

He said it in no uncertain terms… I don’t get why people are so shocked! When a person openly refers to themselves as “a brand”, that should tell you everything you need to know about where they “draw the line” when it relates to money. Hint: There is no line. My father worked in the entertainment industry (contract law) for over 4 decades and something he told me when I was young still sticks with me. He said that “Nobody in the industry is the person you see in movies, on tv, in the media, etc. You’re seeing the image that they pay dozens, sometimes hundreds, of people to craft for them. The clothes they wear, their haircut, the words that come out of their mouth, etc. are what their staff have determined will sit well with the largest segment of their audience.” In my experience with celebrities, he isn’t wrong. I have met a few celebrities that don’t fall under that umbrella, but I have met far more that absolutely do. That’s just the nature of “the industry”, you want fame and money and clout? “Play the game the way we tell you” is the industry’s response. Far too many people don’t possess the fortitude to push back, so they follow along.
Yeah it's called acting for a reason it's not called doing what-ever you want. I think having a good background in theater arts helps with acting because in theater arts you are given all the tools you can write your own script, you can direct your own scenes, you can improv, you can do your own set design and costumes. When you get the power to create a story as you see it. Script writers create a trail to be followed, directors set the pacing, and actors follow the trail at the directors pace. The producers make it all possible and the audience decides whether or not it was all worth it.
truth, I rose to regional status and got to meet a lot of up and comers and higher ups in the music industry....pretty much the same deal as hollywood though sometimes I feel darker. It's crazy how deep the rabbit hole goes. I eventually got to a point where all the things I knew were happening behind the scenes were being verified so I decided to step back and not associate with any of the scenes or those I met along the way. I completely isolated myself, continued my projects by myself and now I'm just staying completely independent and helping new artists gravitate the ropes. I was blacklisted, shadow banned, everything you can think of but in the end I touched enough people positively enough throughout my journey the last 20 years that I've been able to to maintain my loyal friends/fans to rebuild what they tried to tear down. I am lucky to know exactly the type of people I was dealing with so it was not hard for me to recognize their traits by their actions. Stay bless and keep on fighting the good fight.
@marcel perez Thanks for sharing your experiences! I am shocked at how many people actually buy into the images being shown to the public by celebrities… I have had similar conversations with countless individuals and I never once thought that even people I respect would fall for this scam. I have met many celebrities during my lifetime (because of my father’s work) and I can maybe think a 2 or 3 that were completely genuine. Everyone else was almost the opposite of the image the public sees. I would LOVE to be able to name names and give examples, but I don’t believe it would be in my best interest to do so considering that my dad still has close personal relationships with some of the individuals who would be on the list.

To me his greatest feat was when he said I will tell you the punchline first and then the joke and you will still laugh. Greatness!
This is true, there is some dark shit behind the scenes. Kevin interviewed Kelly Clarkson on his podcast and asked her why she stepped away from fame. And she said because people wanted her to do things she didn't agree with. And kevin jokingly signaled her to stop talking and kelly laughs and says oh they are listening right now?
Yea it's not just black actors, it's most celebrities. Lots of white actors did this too, Dustin Hoffman, Patrick Swayze, Robin Williams just to name a few...and like Kelly implied it's not just wearing a dress either
Jim Carey said on the Jimmy Kimmel show back in ‘14 that all mainstream comedians and entertainers are apart of the Illuminati and they get paid a lot of money to push agendas. It’s crazy how they literally tell us what happening and we still choose to call it conspiracy theories
Instead of death by 1000 cuts, it's fame by 1000 cuts. Kevin Hart claimed he had boundaries, but really his boundaries just had a price tag, and the industry found his breaking point.
Mostly black folks never found Dave funny. A matter of fact, blacks were saying that Dave was a "sellout" because he performed for whites and was with a Asian woman. Until Dave lowered his standards and started doing comedy for blacks, being "pro black"/hanging with "pro black" music artist, and having these black "victim" speeches. Black folks have done the same thing to Charles Barkley being a republican and have made comments that blacks didn't like and with Stephen A. Smith in the past for having opinions on black players that they didn't like and look at what they had to do to get blacks on their side.
I like Chappelle but I just prefer not watching someone destroy their health onstage each time he puffs a cigarette. Not only that constantly promoting weed(which lowers testosterone) but at the same time taking steroids . I'm all for medical cannabis but this ain't it.
Kevin Hart said he agreed with Dave Chappelle on having boundaries. But Hart never said that refusing to wear a dress was one of his personal boundaries.
Exactly, he said is was all about what brand u have and if it works for it. Seems like it works for his brand, he was always goofy and out there and pretty sure it fits
The fact that Dave was figuring all this out, and answering (Hollywood handler) Oprah's questions reveling he knows the truth, is a BIG risk to take in itself...
Right? When I found out she was a "handler" for the elite I saw that interview very differently. Dave, whether he knew it at the time, was risking everything.
As an older white dude, I ask myself is this the litmus test for black actor/comedians to see if they are going to play ball in Hollywood? That said, I have seen many white stars and comedians put on a dress for a part, Gene Hackman, Milton Beryl from way back, Jim Carry, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, David Duchovny, John Travolta, Billy Crystal. Maybe I missed it but did Denzel Washington, James Earl Jones, Sidney Poitier, Morgan Freeman, Forest Whittaker, Danny Glover, Samuel L. Jackson ever put on a dress?
Yeah, the way this video say, it's like only black people are forced into this.. are you kidding me? I mean I get having integrity and all that shit, but stop talking like only black comedians have to do this dit

Good for Dave for achieving a level of success where he can pick and choose his jobs. Most of us have to do things we dont want to do in our day jobs.

They put alot of all races of male actors in dresses. Not just black males. Christ Farley, Robin Williams, Kurt Russell, David spade, Jared Leto, Gerald Butler, vin diesel. None of those are black all wore dresses. Tons more. It's not some magical conspiracy to only make black males wear dresses. They try to get alot of males to wear dresses. Mostly because it's funny. I'm not trying to hate on Dave, but I'm hating on the fact that he's acting like he never said yes to being a lil' extra in a role that he was already hilarious as hell in.
Kevin didn't say it was his boundary, he was very careful with his words. In hindsight you can see he knew it was coming.
He did leave himself a hole to crawl into, yes.
maybe i dont follow kevin that closely to "see he knew it was coming" but i'll take your word for it.

Touché, when I think about the American history
Absolutely correct
Hollywood is no different than Prison, who has the power to make you bend over and dance like a circus clown, has the power
This is why kids are now thinking that they are pronouns because they used their favorite entertainers to brainwash them
I've seen many great comedians but Chappelle is my all time fav. He did things other comedians couldn't & he's always kept it real
