@@squidwardtentacles578 .....yes.....she left...... . The Radiohead frontman met Rachel Owen, an artist and Oxford University lecturer, as art students at Exeter University. The couple were partners for 23 years and had two children together, Noah and Agnes, before separating in 2015. Owen died aged 48, in 2016, after suffering from cancer. She had been in poor health that year but continued to teach Italian into her final months. Asked about being a father to the two teenagers, Yorke told Lauren Laverne, presenter of the BBC Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs: “I can’t hope to be their mum but we’re all right. I’m just really proud of them both. It stuns me most days. I can’t believe they’re anything to do with me. They’re just such great people.” Owen was an internationally renowned artist, mixing photography and printmaking. Her academic work focused on Italian medieval literature. Yorke said: “When the kids’ mum died, it was a very difficult period and we went through a lot. It was very hard. She suffered a great deal and my ambition is to make sure that we have come out of it all right, and I hope that’s what’s happening.
His voice is so fucking beautiful. . . . . . No one else sounds like Thom. I'm sitting here with goosebumps listening to this song and at the same time a little nauseous waiting for LP9. . . . . . I wish it would just come out already!!!!
I'm laughing, crying, losing consiousness, being hyperactive, all at the same time. Seriously, whenever I listen to Him and Them, I feel like I'm in a super safe place, where I am myself. Thank You, Thom. Thank You, Radiohead, for making me feel safe.
Dude, same. This song is deceptively simple- I learned it in 5 minutes, but after 5 years, I still can’t get the phrasing and rhythm to sound like Thom. Oh well, I guess that’s another testament to his genius. Keep it up! :)
I've gotta listen to this song every now and then just to hear another human being say to me.. "just.. don't leave.." I guess pathetic has met a new limit.. I'm just the lucky one to find it.. it's a great song that I'm happy to say I found by accident.. Everything happens for a reason..
I saw them live in 2009 and yeees, so far from here.... I was 16 back then, so many things happend in my life in those 7 years... Yet, the day I saw them live (for the very first time, and - so far - the very last) was one of the best I can remember.
Definite the highlight of my year seeing Thom Yorke play, felt such an honor to be there. Such clever lyrics in this song, but then so are most of their songs, and as for his voice, sigh,, just beautiful
I WAS THERE!! I love that I can say that, I can NEVER say that. I know why he smiled and who he smiled at, I know ALL OF THIS!! The butterfly that drifts by in the middle of this, it landed on my friend in the crowd just before. Man... If I hadn't been coming down quite so hard, I'd have said it was the best moment of my ENTIRE LIFE... maybe that's an overstatement but I DON'T CARE!! I WAS THERE!! ME!! AND I'm a MASSIVE GEEK!! Screw you, world!!
I've had a really reallly bad day, been in too much doubt about stuff. Yet he only needs 2 seconds to bring me back. Thank you Thom, and thank you Tanja for uploading this.
thank you so much for letting me relive probably the most perfect moment of my life. im man enough to admit i started weeping like a baby when the butterfly started flying round him.
Holy crap! I saw that - weirdly my primary school Butterfly knowledge kicked in. It was a British Swallow Tail. I could just about watch it through my snot bubble weeping and memories of break-ups, first kisses, being seven and learning where Butterflies came from...oh god...
@spencerdudd this is WAY over the top. Thom is just a human. Yes, he has the ability to enchant us with his beautiful tunes and amazing lyrics. But, he is just a human. Would you feel unworthy of being in the same room with let's say, Michael Jordan? Probably not. But he is like, the same caliber of a different skill.
It looked like he was singing to someone standing in the audience in the first half bit of the song, despite the niece giggles, he was staring at someone. And what's with the "i'm not living, i'm just wasting time"? this is the first time i hear him singing it this way. pretty awesome, though.
i was so unwell at this festival nothing was going to stop me from leaving performers camping and crawling to see this. he was hilarious between songs doing Simpsons And South park impressions. lovelovelove
@TooCooLFoRYou123 yeah. he did make a mistake thats why he said it. But I actually thought it added to the song in a positive manner. I really liked it, because now when i listen to True Love Waits whenever i hear that part and am following along in my head, i always hear the second "not living" even though its not in the recorded version.
the version with Jonny was done once in 1995! It's barely even classifiable as an "old part" really. More an idea at the time. I dare say a studio version could feature strings doing the same thing. That is assuming they ever do this song properly for a new album. At least Thom is singing it like the 1995 version again (much better less over emotive)
has anyone seen the MTV live version where he says "Im not living, not livinggggg" it actually makes that part sound better saying it twice I reckon, even though it was a mistake :P.
What kind of music do you listen to? I personally think Radiohead is underrated for what they have achieved. Kid A was a style of music that is so original that you can't find anything like it that has had even half the success. Thom's lyrics are incredible. Maybe he doesn't spoon feed you the meaning, but he certainly is incredible at developing a powerful metaphor that, in my opinion, has a stronger effect than direct lyrics. Go listen to country music
Thom always smiles while playing this song. Wish I knew what he was thinking about
his wife, though he's probably not smiling about it anymore
"dress like your niece" "lollipops and crisps".... slightly comedic ?!

About the king of limbs
this gets better meaning the longer thom lives. now he has second wife and MAYBE now its a true true love and he had to wait for that love 20years

Words cant describe how beautiful this song is. This is lyrical genius in all sense. Thom Yorke will go down as top 5 artists of all time.
Do you still feel that way? If so who are the other 4?
Yes, i know how unlikely it is that you'd answer after 9 years.
Top one
My infatuation with this song is scary. Also learning to play it myself now. Can't believe how hard it is to sing and play at the same time lol.
Practice practice practice. I'm sure you'll get it, boss.

Matt Heesakkers Don't leave, my brother
Matt Heesakkers Don't leave man, just don't leave
Don't leave, yo!
Matt Heesakkers please don't leave
The song's supposed to connect with you like that. It's raw and honest. It's not pathetic at all :)
2009 seems so far from here.

This would have been great to see live! My luck it would have rained, has 2 out of 3 times seeing Radiohead in the past... hate rain.
wonder what he's staring at
what was the audience up to. seemed to be entertaining thom just as much as he was them. good to see him in a good mood anyway

this song is in their "live records" album
I wanna be like Thom :(
He's going for that "there's an animal sleeping on my head" look
I hate when people cut out the applauds on videos...
do you have the audio setlist????
what bands are u into that have such structural musical superiority over radiohead? id seriously like to know, cuz id probly be real into them
