Hey everyone, I will have to slow down on videos because university is starting again.
Thank you all for watching and re-living the Outer Wilds experience with me,
it has been very nice to read your comments and click and your timestamps ::D
Hi Eelis when you are freer from studying, could you make a supercut using @LukaelPlays Outer Wilds - Blind Playthrough?
He recently started playing “Return of the Obra Dinn” and I remembered that this is also a popular game here.
ruclips.net/p/PLeQYhJsGN6H7dgFlBzXZ5xPaqLZkBSNSl 👍
Thank you Eelis. Your work has helped to fill the void in all of us who have completed the game. I get teary eyed every time. Thank you.
What are you studying? Your videos are helping me through uni too lol
The only two reactions anyone has to meeting an Owlk in the darkworld for the first time:
1. "OH JESUS CHRIST!"
2. "Hello, are you a friend? OH JESUS CHRIST!"
Indeed! I was #2 but I was so scared that I thought it would help my fear to see how they killed you so I just purposefully let him kill me at the swamp area. But then! Later on, when you blow out all the lights at the lodge, which happened to be the first location I attempted the puzzle, I had gotten so confident with the area and never thought that they would be just roaming around freely… My brother in christ I ran head on into the one at the bottom of the stairs next to the projector and it genuinely scared the crap out of me. That was probably the highlight of my playthrough.
One incredibly subtle detail I noticed recently, prompted by lil indigestion's comment that "they definitely don't want me to solve this," is that the seal placed by each clan is secure against the glitch that is documented in that clan's forbidden archive. Instead, each seal is "hacked" by using the glitch from ANOTHER clan's archive. So they each developed their seals in secret so that no single clan would have the knowledge to get through all of them. But in the process, they didn't communicate about the glitches and accidentally made their locks vulnerable to glitches known to the other clans.
I love how he calls a telescope a “reverse microscope” 6:45
its true though
I was coming here specifically because of this. That cracked me up so much
Wanna know the best part? It's not a "reverse microscope", it's actually just a microscope. They are optically identical. Both just magnify the thing on one end, we just point the small boi at the microbes and the big boi at the stars.
@@naturallyinterested7569 lmao that’s actually so true, I didn’t even think about that. Actually hilarious
They should be called macroscopes for real though
I love him calling them the "unknownians" it feels so real
I really like this guy, he may not be the best at puzzles and figuring out some game mechanics, but he has enough curiosity, attention to detail and connection to the characters to piece all the information together in a satisfying way
One of my favourite parts of Outer Wilds is that the Nomai as characters are consistent, and you can piece together their relationships and even follow some of them as they grow up through the dialogue you find of them.
But I think because there's a lot of names to remember, most people I watch play through it either don't pick up on it, or don't make the attempt to keep them all straight.
So I was really pleased in this playtrhough how he kept recognizing Nomai names as they game up.
That final loop was amazing with trying to get gabbro to join in and then escaping from the anglerfish by abandoning ship
The canon ending as far as im concerned
I bashed the cockpit off just entering Dark Bramble. Has to jetpack the whole way, was burning air by the time I got to the mothership but I made it! Losing your ship in the final loop is great.
im so glad you cut the whole 2 episodes where he couldnt understand how the projector worked, i was so frustrated🤣
he would get stuck because he tunnel visioned on whatever thing was in front of him, instead of looking around for everything in the area (the slide reels that are in the literal same building 🤦♂). There were definitely parts of his playthrough that were frustrating to watch, but he did discover everything in a satisfying order.
Yeah I didn’t make the connection in my play through that you put lanterns in the projectors to view the slide reels for like my first 3 or 4 loops
@@McGoobly when i first tried to use a projector i plopped the scout on top of it to let me see the bottom half of the reels, took me way too long to figure out you could place the lanterns in there.
Which otherwise he played pretty well, much better than the other 'men' featured on this channel.. ..usually they can't even go the way they're supposed to go next because they're 'scared to die' ..every loop, forgetting about the loop.. then again, "I shoulda turned on reduced frights!" .. nevermind, he's a huge puss 46:20
I posit this will only become a more regular ocurrence as more and more people grow up never having seen a slide projector before 😅
This guy went back for Gabbro ! It broke my heart !
Was this my favorite playthrough so far??
Its crazy how ive never considered that a new player wouldn't know what the eye of the universe is while watching the owlks things discover its secrets...
Also, how tf did he find so much accidentally lmaoo
55:05 shoutout to the first time someone witnessed a stranger fucking DIE on camera
Without the fall damage in the Hidden Gorge he would've cheesed the entirety of EOTE without knowing it, what a great playtrough.
oh my god you're right
I don’t understand, how would he have stumbled his way through it just by not having fall damage?
Maybe he would’ve been at an advantage, but I doubt he would’ve cheesed the whole thing just because of that.
@@Nilon2012 He jumped straight to the invisible bridge that takes you to the Hidden Archives, if fall damage didn't wake him up he would've reached all 3 archives without even seeing the vault vision.
@@Nilon2012 He never would've found out that someone inside the vault is trying to give instructions on how to access the passwords to it. He never would've done the tower puzzle. He never would've seen that the 3 passwords were burnt in the real world. He never would've found the basement of the cliff eye temple - and thus never found the 3 hidden reels that contained the methods to access the secret archives which carry a lot of the narrative because some of the Elks set up traps because this information was so forbidden. They also create a feeling of depth like "there's so much more to find in areas I've passed by hundreds of times!"
You're supposed to wander around in the 3 dream world areas but not know the insider secrets to navigate them and reach the archives the very first time you're there - you're supposed to feel like an intruder!
@@franmaniliait reminds me of how I accidentally found out that dying makes the bells not wake me when I wanted to die to reset the loop. I thought it was a legitimate bug because the game had no where to wake me up to.
ok so much of this was incredibly funny but the distressed "i feel like i disappointed my dad!" had me HOWLING
bruh that run inside Dark Bramble was so magically stressful
What's most heartbreaking about the prisoner is that they weren't just sentenced for life, they were put inside the simulation along with everyone else for eternity. Even death couldn't free them.
They were imprisoned for longer than humanity existed.
couldn't he blow out his candle
@@megafrodo100 good question
@@megafrodo100he could, but people theorise he didnt because of the small chance that what happens in the dlc does, and someone comes to tell him his actions werent all in vain
I will never not cry at the ending of this game.
This might be one of my favourite playthroughs. He follows the sequence, understands most of what's happening the right way, doesn't make ridiculous conclusions with a smart face, i like the way he reacts and comments, he isn't steaming so no backseating or interruptions, and finally he finds and plays the dlc before finishing the main story, which i believe is the right sequence, though a rare sight
I think the funniest thing about the "loading screens" is that Outer Wilds itself probably doesn't even treat them as loading screens. If I had to guess, the whole simulation is fully loaded in the entire time.
If I remember correctly, they actually asked this exact question to the devs in the NoClip podcast episode about EOTE. And yep, the "loading screens" are not actually loading anything. ::)
I love the details about making them fake loading screens for the simulation. As someone who fell in love with Outer Wilds when it first came out, and having watched some documentaries on its creation and seeing all of the cool optimization tricks they used so the game ran smoothly in space, when I first played the DLC, going through the "loading screen" that was so obviously a "loading screen" actually made me do a double take. It was more of a gut feeling reaction than anything else, because after knowing how well the rest of the game ran, I KNEW something was off. Discovering it was an intentional fake loading screen was really gratifying and reassuring.
Yep, once you hit the trigger for it the entire thing is just loaded as a flat plane in a corner of the solar system, kinda like the Bramble.
Not a fake loading screen, but an in universe loading screen. Just like the memory playback doesn't represent a lies of p style game time rewind, but actual in universe time travel.
29:17 i love the timing that his first time there he hears all of them screaming
There are a few moments in the base game that tend to make players ask "was that because of something I did" and it makes them paranoid for a while. I suspect that the designers of EotE deliberately put more of those in to amp up the paranoia level.
the perspective of not really knowing what the eye is and playing this is pretty interesting, your in a sense in the exact same shoes as the strangers
55:10 now THAT is an animation I haven't seen before!!
amazing that he found the hidden hand by accident. i just finished watching BDG's EOTE supercut YESTERDAY where he points out that someone could have found that by chance
not just that, but the fire too, its crazy
@@silastopole ive seen a fair few amount of people find that fire archive without any help, theres another building behind the main one if you look hard enough from the balconies (also all the symbols on the back wall around the fire make people curious about going into it)
@@fuwe also it's the only fire (afaik) in their world that is orange, not blue, which I think is because it's not a "real" fire
@@benpmoon fire color depends on its fuel. Church burns orange in main story reel 2. Marshmallow also burns orange.
I NEVER NOTICED the vision had animated fuzzy borders before 1:23:01
he describes exactly how I felt about the game at the end and why outer wilds is also easily my favorite game, everything about it just spoke to me like no other game has and I’m glad to see it did the same for someone else
his first encounter with an Owlk he reacted like it grabbed him in real life
46:20 might be the best timing of a scare I've seen from this game, first the reveal then the pursuit
I call it "the double tap"
One of the many things I love about the DLC is how all the glitches you exploit to break the seals are similar to real glitches seen in games (and often abused in speedruns)
Especially the one where you die to play the game ::)
One of the best playthroughs I've seen. His thoughts on whether to do the DLC first (seen more in his full episodes) reflected exactly the way i imagine the Hatchling's thoughts.
Hey Eelis, I am very grateful for your hard work and dedication to sharing all these playthroughs in an easy format. I've loved every single one. Thank you so much.
My favorite section is when he first learned about the "no lantern thing" and proceeded to ignore it and drown ina lake.
That may have been one of the most terrifying first encounters with the strangers I've seen...damn
Man got straight up double tapped. Abject terror, then illusory recovery, then more abject terror.
@@FadkinsDiet This is the funniest description one could think of
I've found several RUclipsrs through this channel I wouldn't have found otherwise. Thank you for putting these together!
Reaching two archives before discovering anything with the slide burning rooms is a first for me… impressive
i absolutely love these supercuts!! thank you for all you do! i now regularly watch about oliver and these past couple of days i have checked out lil indigestion's stuff because of your work :)
Not only did this man accidentally discover the Stranger by sheer chance last time but he referred to a telescope as a backwards microscope dude is on a different level
The only moment in this game that made me feel super smart is the sails.
I dropped into the Stranger, saw them and said “omg it’s solar sails!”
Usually I’m the one watching in awe as people figure things out much quicker than I did.
It was nice to finally have a moment where I felt smarter than everyone else 😂
7:02 when Eelis drops a new supercut
😂
I GOTTA GO TELL BOB
The craziest part isIt's so crazy that he
1. Made it to the room from where you access the code room (even though he didn't enter it)
2. Made it into the fireplace
3. Made it into the well
All without ANYONE telling him how
I loved this playthrough. His thoughtful approach fits the game perfectly! Watched the whole dlc playthrough after your first supercut, can’t wait to see how you cut this one
I just had a thought while watching this, is the reason why the owlks are all strapped into their sleeping quarters is to prevent any other prisoner incident. Because they dont look like they are strapped in the earlier slide reels that tell the original stories.
I've always assumed that it's so they don't tumble forward in the real world and drop the lantern or otherwise be removed from the simulation.
In earlier slide reels, they were still alive on the surface, but eventually they knew they were going to die there while remaining in the simulation. For the vast majority of the time they've been inside, leaving's not an option because they're already dead.
As for the prisoner incident... Well, they burned the control column for the signal blocking probe
You tried.
thanks for your service to us psychos who need to relive this experience a million times over! the slow down will be understandable, but if you keep doing these do you think you could do jerma at some point?
Im curious if eelis has played TUNIC.
If not, that game was the game that brought me out of the post outer wilds game funk. Would definitely recommend. Has a lot of revelatory moments like in outer wilds with its knowledge based checkpoints so don't do too much research.
Also, thank you for making these! I've been binging them to relive the outer wilds experience and I'm loving them.
Agree! Obviously it doesn't work quite the same, but I love TUNIC for this reason
What a fun run. thanks for the supercut, the streamer was super nice to follow his journey.
please tell me he cooks a single marshmallow correctly
It's what felfspar would do. You can't blame him
Oh my god your scout can measure surface integrity???
yes, riebeck mentions it and it pops up anywhere you shoot your scout on brittle hollow
I will never get tired of 46:20
Something i didn't realize until this supercut, is the stark difference in expression from the first time the prisoner looks down at at his lantern ( 1:22:05 ) and the last ( 1:25:32 )
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched Outer Wild’s end but I never fail at crying at all of them🥲
Yay! Been waiting for this since last week! ❤
What a beautiful playthrough, lending such wonderful perspective
Great job, as always!
I just found your channel but I have been binging it from there because I LOVE this game! Please keep it up your channel is very nice!
thank you for all that you do with these videos
this was such an amazing supercut and playthrough omfg
Thank you Eelis for another wonderful supercut !!
Woohoo! Just finished the previous one.
Loving the commentary edits by the way, would enjoy seeing more of those in the future.
man i just found your channel recently and ive been binging all your outer wilds supercuts. thanks for these:))
Whoaaaa, that was so quick!! Just finished watching the normal supercut and tada, you finished the dlc?! Thank you Eelis! 😊
this might be my new favourite playthrough!
great playthrough!
I love these supercuts. Truly admire the effort. I can only imagine how much time it took.
my birthday gift... 💙
Happy B day ^^
I think this might be the best one yet
So I finally got the nerve to beat this DLC myself so now I can watch all these play throughs. So happy to watch this one though, he's my favorite for both the DLC and the main game :)
This was one of my favorites Eelis
Thank you.
Whats your favorite that youve cut so far?
love his gameplay so much, hate his marshmallow roasting so much more
The OW thanks you AGAIN for your hard work Eelis! Your supercut always make me stop my day to watch new creators experience this beautiful game yet again.🤭
Also, i hate to ask, but i would love you to edit a new playthrough from a Vtuber called Pomu Rainpuff from Nijisanji EN! While she's still combing through the game rn, i cant wait whenever you have the time to edit her stream eventually!
Love from me and every1 watching ur edits, Thank you!
YESSS, thankyouuuu so muchhh, i was about to go to sleep
Crazy he found the archives before even getting the vision from the vault.
this is the most scared ive ever seen someone be about the owlks, and you know, ive seen myself
Elks* The correct name is listed in the game's own credits for reference.
@@MilktubeFirst I've heard of that. Fans have called them owlks (owl+elk) since I can remember though
@@piotr78 the credits say "elk choir" but that's referring to the owlk's "voice actors" (elk from a zoo) and the guy above misunderstood that
I'm surprised you don't have a patreon yet.
With the Amount of conten and Viewrs you generate, you really should consider it.
LETS GOOO!
Nice video 🧐🍷
Here it is boys!
Bro forgot hollow's lantern😔
46:48 the scream lololol
46:21 manliest scream ever
Where can I watch this guy playing the other endings?
45:28 it seems everyone find something in this game accidentally, lmao. 56:53 ... oh okay then.
46:21 holy shit lmao
"Thank you for wathcing". No Eelis, thank *you* for making these, even if your spelling could use a little work. ::)
Would love to see a Vaush supercut! Don’t think he uploaded it but I’m sure stream VODs are around
Why did you cut some of the moments at the end of dlc and main game endings? Kinda feels weird at those specific moments to cut it and make music hiccups
This was fast
